A great place to play when in Lexington area.
Great layout, excellent greens, excellent course conditions, including bunkers. I will be plating it again while visiting the area.
Best bang for $$$ in KY
Travel time to course is only drawback for me. If you play there you will not be disappointed. Always in good shape.
Great public course
Gibson Bay is a great public course that can test your game at various distances. My group was older so we played the white tees, but the course can be long enough for any type of player. If you hit the ball straight and stay in the fairways you will be rewarded, but if you get in the rough it is thick and you pay the consequences. One warning....you don't want to try and walk this course unless you are a marathon runner!!
If is a beautiful course and it has a nice driving range as well as a short 9 hole course if you like to walk. The clubhouse is very nice and the food is good.
A great value!
Great course layout
Second time to play this course and loved it. It is a great course design with lots of risk/reward holes. Both times that I have played, it has been a little cool and dreary. I can't wait to play when it is a little firmer and faster. The greens are very challenging and strategy comes into play on a lot of the holes.
Gibson Bay
Excellent course with fast greens. This course can be very challenging with several risk /reward opportunities.
Gibson Bay...
One of the nicest course en Kentucky...Well maintenance, need to improve ball washer, too dirty. Golf car need renewal; restaurant, cafeteria need varieties...
Great place to play
Excellent greens, lots of challenging long par 4's If playing the blue and especially the black tees. Number 15 is a monstrous par 5 and a par score is a gem when you can get one. You won't be disappointed playing Gibson Bay.
Good golf course
Good golf course. Was very wet when I played but still had a good time
The Bay for the first time
Enjoyed the course even with the wet, sloppy conditions. They had the greens in smooth shape and the layout was fun. I will be back when everything dries out for sure and bring some buddies with me.
in great shape for this late in the season
Played on Nov 30. It was cold and windy so we pretty much had the course to ourselves so we were able to play 18 in about 3 hours. Fairways and greens were still in good shape for this late in the season and we will definetly hit it again soon i hope.
Best Public Course in Central Kentucky
We always look for Hot Deals for this course. For the money it's the most well-kept, challenging, fun course to play in our area, and one of the few with generous markers throughout the fairways.
We've played all seasons, and the greens seem to always be well manicured and fair. The fairways bring into play long drives, left and right doglegs, uphill and downhill approach shots - the complete package of golf shots with only a couple of short water hazards for good measure.
I feel if you play it once you'll want to go back again!!!
Very nice course
Course was great but greens had been punched and were still coming back. A lot of hills! Golf carts were old and didn't have much power. That was a problem due to all the hills. Pro shop and grill staff were pleasant. Had rained a lot prior to round so course was soggy, but this is a definite return trip.
Beautiful Course
I booked this course on GolfNow's Hot Deals. I was excited to try out a new course, and from the few pictures I could see online, I was very excited.
It had been raining for the previous 2 days, so the course was soggy in spots, but not awful by any means. Honestly, there were only soggy places on about half of the holes so the drainage system is working well. The grounds crew was mowing, making great striping patterns on the fairways and improving the course conditions.
This was one of the prettiest courses I've ever played. The rolling hills came into play on several holes and made for an interesting layout. The greens were undulating and very fast, a testament to the care paid by the staff.
From the Blue tees, the par 3s are longer than many other courses I normally play.
A few holes are high risk/reward. Particularly the par 3s. Strategic bunkers and mounds in front of the greens give you the option of risking it and going for the flag or making the conservative play to the broad side of the green. I was forced to make the conservative shot a few times but when I went straight for it (and made the right swing) on the 12th hole, it paid off BIG.
Hole 10 is featured in my photo. Hitting over a beautiful lake at a fairway that is slightly angled right makes for a scenic and interesting way to start the back nine.
I didn't go over to it, but this facility has a short course for beginners to work on their game.
Despite the somewhat challenging course layout and somewhat soggy conditions in spots, I was able to shoot a personal best 78.
Great course
Great course for the money. Fairways are in great condition and really like the speed of the greens, faster than most in this area. Only fault I had with the greens were that people don't repair there ball marks, plentiful on most greens. Overall one of my favorite courses in this area and would recommend everyone give it a try.
Great overall experiencd
Fast greens, beautiful fairways. It's hard for me to find a complaint. If I did, it would be that I had the slowest golf cart EVER. But when that is your complaint, you know it was a great day!
Great Course!
Gibson Bay is in great shape. Greens rolled really well. Tee boxes and fairways are in great shape. All around great experience.
course in greet condition
well maintained greens and fairways. rough was high hard to find balls. stay in fairways that are great and you well do well. I recommend and well return.
Great course
Great course in excellent shape. Play flowed nicely. Will dedefinitely return.
As good as it gets!
Gibson bay is in great shape. Best public course in the state. Hands down. I'm going to purchase a full membership there.
great course
It was a very rainy day, the clubhouse was crowded when we arrived due to lighting. Once the weather broke, pace was of course slow due to everyone starting back up. We had one more storm come through and had to stop for another half hour. It appeared the greens were going to be flooded but the course is so well constructed they drained super quick. The course is in fantastic shape and the layout is great. Rates are awesome, unbelievable for a course of this quality.
