nice course
Beautiful course. Course conditions were very good on my visit
Soggy weather, but perfect green & fairway
It was sprinkling, but the conditions of greens and fairways were perfect. We enjoyed the round there. I will definitely recommend this course to anybody living or visiting the area.
I'll be back
Great shape beuituful course. No houses would like to play the par 3 also the next time I play.
Everything you could ask for in a golf experience.
This course has it all.
Course is challenging , fair , well maintained, variety of holes, not lined with houses on every hole.
Great practice facilities, pro shop and food and beverages. Staff always welcoming.
All this at a very good price.
GREAT VALUE
YOU WON'T BEAT THE PRICE TO PLAY A COURSE IN THIS SHAPE. VERY FRIENDLY STAFF.
Gibson bay 2014
Other than a few wet spots this course was in PGA quality condition. The staff here is fantastic And the food is better than most reasturants. Gibson bay is the best value in all of KY , a must play on anyone's list
Great day.
Nice course. However, the course has to many flowers in the ruff, which make the ball hard to find.
Great course !
A little soggy after torrential rains, but we still had a grest round. Will return soon.
A Must Play
Great course for the price, excellent greens. Staff was very friendly and had a bucket of range balls waiting for me when I was ready to warm up.
The rough was high, stay in the fairway and you'll have a good chance to get on in regulation, once you do that, be careful of the subtle breaks.
I'm a 9 hdc, shot 41 on the front ( 7 pars, dbl, tpl-missed fairways and O.B. ~ 36 on the back ( 7 pars sandwiched between a birdie and a bogey, 14 G.I.R.) You can score if you get off the tee box.
I'll definitely be back!
Enjoy your round:)
Great golf value in southern Kentucky
Rolling hills, well groomed fairways; however, some greens are small so precise approach shots are required.
Greens were quite receptive to well played approach shots.
We enjoyed this course and will play again.
BEST BANG FOR YOUR $
Gibson Bay remains one of the best "bang for your buck" courses in the area.
Pace of play: This is a municipal course, as such the pace of play is generally slower than you would typically expect.
Conditions: Fairways and greens are both in very good shape with the greens a little faster than you would expect. The rough is a little high with balls sitting down and making them difficult to find at times....this could be adding to the pace of play.
Staff: Top notch and friendly. Always willing to accommodate.
Value: The title of this review says it all and it consistently rates that way over the course of a season.
Food: Pepsi products, dogs, chips and such. Not many options, but you shouldn't go hungry.
One of the best
This is by far one of the best courses in the state of Kentucky, highly reccomended
That was fun
The course conditions were excellent considering that I played on the first day of March. The greens were relatively fast and the fairways were not overly soggy (as many tend to be this time of year). Overall this was a relatively forgiving course, but some holes were dangerous. There weren't a lot of sand bunkers in play, but many undulations and swales throughout the course made things interesting. There was a good variety in the design of the holes, with no two playing the same.
Holes 7 and 17 were the most memorable for me. 7 is a short par 5, but I would not recommend hitting driver unless you can hit a controlled fade. The fairway angles to the right from the tee box, with trees to the right. A creek runs along the left side of the fairway and then cuts in front of the green. Anything left of the left fairway bunker off the tee is going in the creek (as my ball did), and anything right of the fairway will be blocked by trees. The fairway gets very narrow in the landing area, so a virtually perfect shot is required to set up a try for the green in 2. Even if you do hit that perfect drive, you'll have to follow it up with another near perfect shot to get on the green. You still have to play a long shot to a shallow green with trees close on the left and that pesky creek in front and to the right of the green. Unless you are really feeling some good vibes, the smart play is a fairway wood or iron short of the bunker, followed by a lay up on the right side of the fairway to take the left trees out of play on the third shot over the creek.
17 is a par 3 over water to an interesting green that wraps around a sand bunker in front. There are a lot of possible pin placements that can change the way this hole plays. A very challenging tee shot on a very well designed hole.
Course in good condition for early November
The course is very well maintained. The bunkers still had adequate sand in them. It was quite wet from rain a couple of days earlier but the fairways had absorbed the precipitation.
The staff was very friendly and well prepared for the day, with plenty of carts cleaned and ready.
The greens were the most challenging with incredible slope and good speed. The ball rolled true.
An excellent value! I'll certainly play there again.
Course always well maintained; excellent staff; fun par 3's and golf course.
Course always well maintained; excellent staff; fun par 3's and golf course.
Fun course, but can be intimidating
Excellent design for a public course. Relatively open, but it typically has areas of dense rough and tall grasses; those areas had been recently mown in preparation for the late fall and winter season. Some tee and fairway shots can be blind, depending on how far one hits the ball. A wayward stroke in these instances can lead to a lost ball. Fairway turf was in decent shape. Greens had been recently aerated. They were playable, although somewhat slow and bouncy. Time for the round was just under 4 hours. Attitude of the staff is excellent. Could very easily be a favorite course.
Good course. Had a lot of fun.
Good course. Had a lot of fun. Would recommend this course to anyone. Well taken care of.
OK
Tee boxes in poor condition, and pace of play to slow,
what about uses a marshall to speed up play.
Great
Great course with super fast greens and a perfect layout. Very challenging. Do not recommend for a bad golfer.
