What GREENS
Course was in the worst shape I have ever seen it. The greens were more brown then green.
not the best shape
There were few other golfers so it was nice not to have better golfers pressing you.
The course has been in better shape in the past.
It doesn't seem like it will be here much longer since the upkeep appears minimal. The price was ok.
Tough layout
Course is fairly tough. Being wet and windy did not help. Grass in areas needed to be cut. Overall well worth money.
Bad shape
The rough was tall and very weedy. This used to be a very good course but over the last couple year they let it go.If you hit your ball anywhere but the fairway good luck finding it! The two pictures I saw are about the way it’s been for a long time,if you don’t mind hitting off the dirt then go for it.
DOWNHILL
Been playing this course since inception. Course gets worse every year. Used to be beautiful. Spent most of the round hunting for our golf balls due to the abundance of daisies. Traps are horrible as usual. Staff is very friendly. Not near enough maintenance on course.
Poor Conditions
Didn’t believe the previous reviews. Probably the worst conditions I’ve played in the tristate area. Fairways very patchy. Greens were very sanded but would not have rolled otherwise. Many other courses in the area, no reason for me to go back to this one.
Spent a lot of time fixing this course up and it’s well worth it!
bad shap
The tee boxes had little to no grass on them. Fairways have not been maintained, no seeding or fertilizer. Patchy and bare throughout the course. Weeds in fairways were taller than grass. Greens are a mix of yellow and green obviously have not been fertilized in late winter/early spring. They seem to have let course go to natural state. Highly disappointed in the appearance and condition. Kenton County obviously is planning on selling property off, what a shame.
A Beautiful Day For Golf!
The course is in good shape and the layout is challenging. The trees changing for Fall made the day even more enjoyable.
I love playing this course!
Challenging course
The course was in good shape. The greens were consistent and speed was fast but held iron shots. Biggest issue was slow play on back nine. It was apparent that with no ranger this time of year, players were hoping on the course and creating very slow play. I saw several carts alternating on different holes and not following the course. Carts jumped from hole 16 and went to 3 tee box jumping in front of golfers on 2nd fairway. Also holes 17 and 18 were under repair.
Fox Run is in horrible condition!
All I can say is WOW! This course is is sad shape! There are large, very large sections of the fairways that resemble the infield of a baseball field. Many of the tee boxes are nothing but crab grass. We got a "Hot Deal" for $10 and I wish I spent more and traveled further to play a nicer course. I shot a good score and would normally be happy, but the experience due to the conditions made this round not enjoyable! Sorry, but it is what it is.... Horrible course conditions!
great course needs attention
The fairways are in need of attention. Not at its usual level, however the greens and tees were outstanding. Well worth a trip to play the best course in nky.
Reduced rates please!
I have played this course numerous times. I used to play in a league on this course and the conditions were always good. I had heard about them losing the fairways a couple of years ago but I played it earlier this year and everything was fine. Unfortunately, that was not the case yesterday. The tee boxes were very rough, the fairways had been aerated, bunkers were horrible and many of the greens had burnt patches.
I understand that things happen, budget or staff cuts, bad weather but what I don't understand is when a course is in such bad shape, how they can still charge full price. This course is as much a $50+ dollar course as I am a scratch golfer.
Challenging but fun
Need length for this course. Lots of carries over ravines. Course layout is good. Fairways are in need of some love but roll it and no problems. Stays wet after rain so very soft which makes the long course longer.
What Happened?
A few years ago Fox Run was in great condition and offered a challenging, but fair golf experience. Unfortunately, that is not the case today. It seems as if course management had decided to let this great track go. The greens were in good condition, but not the rest of the course. The fairways were burned out, the rough was a mixture of crabb grass and weeds. The bunkers have not been maintained or even racked with some filled completely with water. The worst was seeing weeds growing around the edges of numerous bunkers. It is basically a course maintainable issue or lack there of. I would say that the staff when checking in was honest when they told me the fairways had some issues, but nothing was said about the rest of the poor conditions. What happened? I'm very sad to see this once great piece of property turn into a joke. I hope that the course superintendent reads this and takes it to heart or better yet, go rack the bunkers, kill the crabb grass, and make this a golf course once again.
Course needs help!
Played Fox Run on 8/14/16 and was blown away by how the course has deteriorated in just 4 months. I haven't pulled more balls out of the fairway to hit from the rough just so I didn't dig into straight dirt. I played this round at a very great price but I don't think I would pay to go back until I know they have properly maintained the fairways. I hope whoever is managing the course can get it back to how great it once was.
Letting go!
Maybe it's just me, but it seems they're just letting this course go. There are some areas still in great conditions. Others seem like they don't even pay attention too. It's sad. It's a nice layout. If it was in top condition it be an excellent course.
Great Potential and awesome layout but fairways are in poor condition
Great course layout, Very scenic, great potential to be worth every dime you spend for a round. But the rough is in much better shape than the fairways, they seem to be having an issue with keeping grass alive on their fairways. I had to move the ball several times to find a patch of grass to hit from. Willows seemed to be in much better shape when driving by so I'm going to be playing their next week instead. Some of the Holes are in great condition though and make for an enjoyable hole, would be top 5 in the area in my book if course was in better shape.
Course Rating Not Fair
This course is much better than a 2.5 rating, that is from 2 years ago when they lost there fairways. If you are more than a 15handicap it would not be fun it is pretty long.
