Fairway troubles, but at least discounted price.
Due to planting new fairways in the fall and harsh winter, they lost the fairways and they are really rough condition. However, the total price was 50% of what it normally was. We played 18 with a cart for $25 each. It was actually cheaper than the original price I booked on Golfnow.com, so they gave me the better price.
NO GRASS FAIRWAYS
Do not play this course for the rest of the year. If I
had known the fairways were completely dead, I would not have booked this tee time. It had rained the night before my round and hitting a fairway shot was a joke. Blobs of mud flew everywhere. I wanted a refund!
This problem should be disclosed on this site in fairness to customers.
Poor fairways
Fairways were terrible. They were reseeded recently and were mostly mud. Need to shutdown this 18 to let them come in. Dont recommend.
do not play this course ion the current condition
I am absolutely amazed that Golf Now allowed me to make a reservation for a course with burned out fairways, that is currently under fairway reconstruction.... We were the only ones to play this course the entire day...
This used to be a premiere course some years ago, but some disease killed their fairways and rendered this course unplayable until the fairways return to normal in about 45 days? I wish i had taken photos for your review. None of the workers could look at us with a straight face... the 17th hole was completely flooded and described as a swamp by their own people...
I believe we are entitled to a refund!!!!
Bad conditions
I wish I would have know that Fox Run doesn't have any fairways due to recently grown grass not taking. I wouldn't have played this course for $5 let alone $25. This was very disappointing.
Not usual condition
With the conditions of the fairway, having some type of problem and reseeding, the course should actually be shut down for awhile to recondition. This is one of our favorite local courses near Cincinnati, but this puts too much stress on the game.
Poor Maintenance
Tee box's had ground hornets on m any holes, needed watered.
played The Willows
The pro shop attendant recommended Willows instead of Fox Run. He said the harsh cold winter did a number on the Bermuda grass. As for Willows a somewhat challenging course. Some challenging par 3's and a very challenging par 4 on #15 where you have to decide whether to lay up or go for the green. Overall an enjoyable course
Poor fairways
This golf course is usually one of the more premier in NKY. The bad winter really destroyed their Bermuda fairways. It was better hitting out of the rough, no joke! The facility also offers 2 other 18 hole courses which looked in pretty good shape. I wouldn't recommend it right now but after they replace the fairways I'll be back on it.
Lost the fairways
This course has some interesting holes and the greens were in the best shape I have seen them however they have lost all the fairways so it is just mud. It was very disappointing. However I paid 15 bucks so it was still enjoyable enough
HORRIBLE COURSE CONDITIONS !! STAY AWAY !!
Booked a tee-time and showed up to be told, we lost every fairway so you will just need to move your ball around to find grass. Why wasn't this made clear BEFORE booking a tee time and driving an hour to play? Save your money, DO NOT book a tee time here.
Extremely Poor Fairways
The fairways were dead. You actually wanted to hit from the rough they were in such poor condition. Not sure if they used something they weren't supposed to on the fairways or what's going on but I wouldn't recommend this course until they sort that whole mess out. If that issue gets solved then it would probably be a nice course to play on.
This course was under major fairway replacement
Management was very unwilling to discount green fees further due to condition of course. fairways were severely damaged due to winter and were being reseeded. Would not recommend playing this course for 1-2 years.
Fairway
This course needed to be closed until grass grows back.
Bad Winter
The course was in really bad shape. I was told they put in new Bermuda fairways last year but the harsh winter killed them, therefore the fairways on every hole are dead and there is very little grass. Due to this they pretty much stopped the upkeep of the rest of the course. The greens were nice. Only reason I gave three stars is that I actually played well given the conditions. They should close down the course until repaired, unless they would lose profit that way.
Not the same as it used to be
Fox Run used to be a beautiful course. I am not sure what happened, but nearly every fairway was barren, dry, and rocky. The roughs were in better shape than the fairways and the weather here has not been too harsh this spring. Haven't played here in several years, but won't be back anytime soon either.
Horrible condition
The fairways are dead. Fried. You can hit a perfect drive right down the middle and you will be hitting off dirt. It was not worth the $34 we paid. Greens were good. You would be better off playing out of the rough. Very disappointing.
Course was under repair.
The greens were great. The fairways were under repair. There was little grass on the fairways. I would not have played had i known about the fairways. I will call before I go next time. I was disappointed that there was no warning given.
Terrible condition!
You should stop selling this golf course it shouldnt even be open, the fairways are dead!! I love the layout and the greens were good, but sadly the fairways are almost unplayable, such a shame
