The Greens at North Hills Review
The staff was friendly and very helpful. The course was in great shape, the greens were fast and well manicured. However, there were several groups of 5 to six individuals playing together and were betting. This slowed the pace of play to a crawl. This is the only negative I have to say for this course. I have played here before and it is always the same.
A course owned by the City of Sherwood, so…
A course owned by the city of Sherwood, so the way it’s run and the people who play there should be no surprise.
The Greens at North Hills is a golf course that is so redneck, even Jeff Foxworthy himself wouldn't play there. The course features makeshift obstacles like old car parts, tires, and even a moonshine still on the fairway. The clubhouse is a converted barn with a grill serving up fried bologna sandwiches and sweet tea. The fairways are overgrown with patches of wildflowers and the rough is more like a field of burrs. Tee boxes feature fist fights with patrons sporting overalls and straw hats and the greens are stained with tobacco spit. The whole atmosphere is a reflection of the broad culture the city of Sherwood is known for with banjo music playing in the background and taunts from locals during your backswings yelling “you ain’t from ‘round here are you” on nearly every hole.
Thank goodness for threebirdies to figure front 9
I had read the reviews which said the front 9 was a challenge to navigate. I used my app to locate the tees; otherwise, I would have been lost. Fall leaves made finding the ball a challenge but expected for this time of year. An enjoyable, long course to play. Bar/ restaurant on site very good and inexpensive. Will play again.
Nice!! First time at course.
Had a really great experience. Everything top notch. Staff very helpful and friendly. The front 9 is a little confusing for first-timers. Not a big deal. Greens in AWSOME shape. But they will challenge you. Definitely will play again.
Memphis Player
Course greens are challenging to put and greens are in great condition.
Fun course.
Staff is always friendly and helpful. Course is always well maintained. Greens are fast and moderately difficult. Always a fun round.
Pace of Play
I realize it was Saturday morning, but it should not have taken 4 hours 40 minutes to play 18 holes. I don’t know what the solution is to ensure players have a good relaxing time and still maintain a acceptable pace of play.
Needs upkeep
Sony leaves on course we couldn't find some of our balls, and so many balls cut up by mowers it was hard at times to find our balls.
Needs better care
Dead leaves all over the fairways. We lost balls due to not being able to find them in the leaves. Mowers have cut balls all over the course. Needs some upkeep.
Gold white tee day
Great greens......value....carts.....my phone GPS app worked for yardages.... scorecard.....beer Powerade
Decent but Needs some TLC
Public courses always come with their fair share of issues. For the most part thevcourse was in decent shape. The main issue is fallen trees on two to three fairways that create a Happy Gilmore golfing experience. I lost more than enough balls in play due to hazards such as those.
Excellent course for the money!
Great value for the money! Easy to find tee boxes for each hole. Pace of play was normal. Fairways were well kept. The parking lot was extremely small for the amount of people that I assume play regularly at this course. For example, maybe around 35-40 parking spaces but yet well over 50 golf carts still in the building off to the side. I have no clue how this course would ever accommodate that many people with such a limited amount of parking. But overall this was an excellent course for what we payed. I would definitely recommend. Great for beginners also!
