Slow greens/afternoon rates
Like all the state park courses I have played, the greens are always extremely slow. Also, the competition reduces their afternoon rates significantly but you never seem to.
Good southern golfing.
The day I golfed this course happened to be the last day they had a relationship with Golfnow. Great course because it doesn't have houses lining the fairways and the fairways are forgiving. Also, it's int the area of the best seafood restaurants I've found anywhere in the country.
Good Value
Good course for the money. Booked with Golf Now. Your not playing at Augusta National. Just have fun and help out the state park.
All in all
All in all, the course is an economical event. While it is a public course, it is easy, and the staff are very friendly. I’ve played it twice and will return. The cart paths need lots of work. They provided sand for divits but no scoops. The course needs more TLC but the price for the round was worth it.
Popahop
Slow greens, sparse fairways, fun, walkable, little high price for an average course.
Rangers needed on the course
Very few people playing and pace was good until encountering a 4some on hole 11. Refused to let our 2some play through. Ended up going around the 4some and resumed play with all holes in front of us open. Noted three groups jammed up behind this 4some a few holes later. When courtesy fails a ranger is needed.
I'll return
The course is a public course so does not get the attention that the more expensive private courses receive. Cart paths are a bit of a mess. Fairways are OK. Greens are OK. Better than some of the private courses in the area.
While a bit of wear and tear, it is a public course. Overall, it was money well spent.
had a great time. greens a little bit slow, but great people to play with, and couse layout made it a great time.
Give it a try!!!
The course is coming along nicely, keep up the good work and the park course!! See y'all again soon!!
Slow, Slow, Slow
Seems as if they were trying to jam as many golfers as possible on the course. No rangers. Not uncommon for three groups to be on a hole, including par 3s. Well over 5 hours to play round.
Ok course
Greens we're very slow. The starter does not pair twosomes up which some times slows play .
golf
greens slow.
fairways dorment with rough patches. need to move ball out of dirt depressions . good couse for practice. fairways are wide.
Great Course
We enjoyed playing this course in early February and look forward to playing it again while in Gulf Shores during February.
Conditions very good considering the cold winter to date. The course offered tee positions for all levels of play.
Review of State Park Golf Course
I chose this course as I wanted to play different courses while down in GS and this was a fair, but challenging course and I met three other players who were very friendly and fun to play with. I would certainly play this course again if I can fine a value like I did on Golf Now like I had this time.
Player friendly course
Front 9 was fine. Could not play back nine. back nine was closed. We're not told until we got there. Took 45 minutes to play 3 hole. Starter did no pair twosomes up. Twosome on the green and 2 twosomes on tee blocks. Only played 3 hold. Not very happy.
