Was hoping for a better experience
From pulling in at the entrance you can see the course is in rough shape. Everywhere is patchy, tee boxes, greens, fairways. The staff was nice but you could tell they were understaff and you had to wait for everything. We came in the club house at the turn and they were out of beer. One of the guys who was playing with us had issues with his cart and they swap it out twice but it broke down again and he was done playing for the day. Our carts battery died in the middle of the fairway on 18 so we packed our stuff up and headed to the car. I was hoping to have a much better experience but things aren’t great over there right now.
Once a great course now struggling to be mediocre
I was a member here 20 years ago and I loved this course. It’s a pale reflection of its former self. Good layout but essentially a crabgrass farm with mud flats on many holes. I know it’s expensive to keep a course in good shape but $75 to play it is an insult. Won’t be back.
Money going clubhouse but course needs work
They are nearing completion of a $5M renovation of the clubhouse that will certainly make it nice. The marshall (aptly named Marshall) definitely cares about the patrons and makes for a good experience, but at the end of the day, it’s a pricey round for a course that really needs some loving. They recently punched the fairways and tee boxes so hopefully it’ll be better in a few months. But for now, it’s not worth $75 a round for the current course condition.
Tough conditions
The fairways were recently punched but you didn’t notice it because the grass on the fairways was a little sparse. The greens were bumpy and slow. It took almost 3 hrs to play the front nine. I couldn’t take it and quit after #9.
Good value
Great design/layout, but condition could have been improved significantly. I love to go back once they improve thr condition.
Overpriced for conditions
Recently, aerated, and many tee boxes and fairways have little grass. Overall course conditions were very poor, definitely not worth $75
course in poor condition
Aeration on both fairways and tee boxes.
Plus, with excessive rain, the bunkers are in horrible condition.
The staff should be providing price concessions for play.
No businesses charging full price. Do not play.
So I had written this course off for good due to its consistent bad condition. I played it today with friends and the price tag was $70. So I thought “oh maybe they fixed things”… no, no they didn’t. The course has an awesome design fun but challenging. However it’s not maintained well. 90% of the bunkers were holding 1’+ of water. Lost 3 balls to these bunkers. There is also barely any sand in them and the bottom is concrete so if you don’t want to damage your wedges, you’ll have to play from outside of it. The course drains very very poorly. This course goes back on my “Do Not Play” list. Many very very good courses for that price tag around these parts.
Could be much better in the future
Course was in very poor condition, worst i have played in Atlanta area, No grass just mud on some fairways, lots of soil erosion around the course, some bunkers were mud holes. (It has been mostly dry for 3 weeks).
Practice area really overused, hardly any grass.
Golf Carts were very dirty
Course layout is really funky , lots of fairway slopes. Most holes were blind tee shots with big doglegs. Greens were well laid out and in pretty good condition for late February The lady in the pro shop said they were spending money on the course and the clubhouse had certinaley been refurbished so perhaps the course is going through a transition and could be better next year
Fun course
Fun, good coursr. Alice and Fred are great to work with.
Better than the 1 and 2 star reviews you might read!
I was skeptical playing here after reading many negative reviews, but overall this course exceeded my expectations and was a fun round to play.
The course is on the tougher side with many dog legs and lots of uphill and downhill. Greens were inconsistent, but seemed to be in pretty good condition and just need to be dialed in a bit more.
There was not a drink cart so buy your brews at the pro shop when you check in.
The clubhouse is still being renovated and brought into this decade. Hopefully they will soon add a 19th hole for losers to buy their competitors a round of drinks! Plan to eat before or after you play as there were not many options for snacks.
Not worth $10
The fact that there is a charge to play here is a disgrace. We walked in after 9. The place is a wretched condition.
Fun course
Good course you have to place your shots. Never a hassle. Both Fred and Alice are professional, courteous and welcoming. Always a good golfing experience.
