Stop Being So Critical

What's the deal with people hating tee boxes? Yes, we would all prefer to hit from a pretty surface, but you're hitting off a tee for crying out loud. As long as the tee box is level, what's the problem?

The greens here are very good. Yes there are some rough spots, but the vast majority of the greens are really nice. The fairways are also very good-are there weeds? Of course there are, but there is plenty of soft plush grass as well.

I live less than a mile from the course and it's my "go to" when I can get there by 4:30 to get 18 in. I always enjoy it. Not the greatest challenge in the world, but you have to be on your toes.

This course is a solid 3 to 3.5 and the staff is very friendly. I think some people are expecting Baltusrol for under $20. This is a nice course and well worth the price. Quit the belly aching.

Better Than Expected

We teed off shortly after the rain stopped, and finished just before it began again, so we had the course almost completely to ourselves. Traps were raked but beaten down by the rain. Greens were beautiful, although there were some bad spots on many of them-but we just moved the ball around them. Bermuda greens with lots of grain-you had to pay attention. Greens were generally slow, but that was caused by the rain. This course really drains great-I was surprised how few soft spots were out there. Fairways were definitely above average. Some of the tee boxes were in rough shape, but you're hitting off a tee, so it doesn't affect play-calm down folks! There are no homes along the course, so you felt like you were on a real golf course through some beautiful vistas. Greens were receptive to shots, so very few bounced over. Very interesting layout, including some L shaped doglegs. Just one par 5 on each side-but all in all a great day.

Personnel were great, drying out carts, etc. Even though the course was empty, the ranger was still out there giving us some tips because it was our first time there. The lady inside was very friendly and helpful and even pulled up the Bay9 radar reports on the computer for us so we could decide whether to play or not.

I will definitely be back and I highly recommend you give this course a try. I think it is a much better course than some of the negative comments. I had a hot deal, but even without it, the rates are very reasonable.

Nice Condition

My first time playing here. We followed a best ball tournament for the first 9 holes, and it was a little slow, but the second nine was much faster. Fairways were in very good condition, as were most of the greens. I found the greens to be a little slower than some others in the area, but the ball rolled pretty well. Unfortunately 4 or 5 of the greens had some very rough spots, but the rest of the green would be excellent. It may have been some fungus or insect issue. I enjoyed the round and will be back.

I'll be back-often

What a pleasure. Course was in very good condition. Most of the fairways were very nice-just a couple of times I had to improve my lie. Greens were very nice and rolled well-the speed was just right. I played the Blue Tees, which is about 6000 yards.

The first hole is a real challenge. Two separate water carries on a par 4. Not very easy but lots of fun. Some very short par 3's and 4's, but others were much tougher.

Lots of beautiful views on a very well conditioned course. I will be back next week.

A Gem in Odessa. The Eagles Forest Course

Simply-this is a great golf course. We teed off just after 3 on Sunday and there were very few people there-it felt like a private club.

The greens were perfect-rolled beautifully, and I didn't see any blemishes on any of them. The fairways were lush and green. It compares favorably to the TPC course which costs 4 or 5 times as much to play.
The carts have an ice bucket with 4 bottles of water, a ball washer and a club face washer. A scratch player may not face the greatest challenge they ever had, but anyone within a 5 to 20 handicap will love this course. There are a few forced carries over water, but I'd guess that the longest was about 150 to 175 yards-we played everything from the blue tees, about 6200 yards. The course doesn't penalize you drastically on your drives, unless they are very wild, and it's not a ball eater.

The Eagles Forest is a very playable, beautifully conditioned, fun course that I will be returning to often. This is the best course I have played in the Tampa area, especially at the price.

Hot Deal Special

This is run like a private country club. Excellent service, friendly greetings, free practice balls and tees, etc. But the average round is about $120-WAY out of my league. But $20 for 9 holes was just perfect.

I've only played few courses here in Tampa so far, but the fairways were the best I've seen so far, and the greens were right up there. Traps looked good. It didn't play that difficult, but we had a lot of fun. I think I only lost one ball all day.

Fun Layout

The course was in good condition, particularly the fairways. Back tees are just 6500 yards and some holes were quite short. BUT-many greens are shallow or narrow, and there are some extreme doglegs where you really have to drive it long. The par 3's are all medium to long length, and with the wind, we had to drive on a 210 yd par 3. Lots of water, and some of the fairways will roll into them since the course was firm. Looking forward to play again.

Great Public Course

I have played here before and I can honestly say that in season, it is one of the lushest and best kept courses in NC. Unfortunately we had some heavy rain recently which has left the course bare and muddy, but that is very unlike the normal conditions.
