the course needs to do a better job of WARNING customers of the conditions and of routing golfers around the construction.
Greens were in excellent shape

...the layout is so good but the conditions are so poor. In fairness, they did have the sand traps marked as ground under repair and the greens were consistent and in very good shape. If it was easier to get to, then it might have the players to allow them to afford to maintain the fairways. For the price, with a cart, it is a value... just hit the fairway and then move your ball to something that use to be, or wants to be, GRASS, and you'll be fine.

and it is CV and it was over 2 1/2 hours on the front and there is practically no grass on the fairways and for the price it is okay

and it starts with the start being late and then, later, I will be paired with a 3-some, but told to get out of my cart and ride with the third ( as if COVID is not still a threat) because the starter said "WE" (the course) ' don't like having 3 cart together on the course.'
I am recording this now, in case I DO contract COVID, I can sue the course.

otherwise, the greens S___K - no one repairs the ball marks, and the tees are bare and uneven... fairways are fairly covered with grass

Always a great challenge - especially the visual from the blue tee box - not overly long and since I hadn't played here for years, I couldn't remember the carries.
Less than 4 1/2 hours and shooting 80.?Always a great day

Always a challenge off the tee and having acceded to my rapidly arriving 70th birthday, even played the whites (and matched the youngsters, when I hit the fairways)
The drought is taking it's toll and a whole lot of rain would really help all of our local courses, except Torrey, of course.

TROON GOLF - that is what the signs in the club house said but maybe they are new signs, 'cause looking at the course says otherwise. Not long and interesting looks from the blue tees, but the lack of grass on the fairways just make the whole trip meh: start not to care 'cause of the run out on the fairway plus the practice green is way faster the the rest. Doubt I'll go back without a real deal, PLUS - you will not find the place without GPS- there are no signs directing you to the entrance OR through the GATE!

Sporty, at under 6000 yards from the tips, the routing of the front offers challenges from overhanging cypress and the abundant deer, while the back goes old school with it’s links style dunes curving along the Pacific Ocean. A joy to try while passing through and an easy walk. On the back nine, choose brains over brawn, hitting where you can see the grass, as the sand is soft and the grasses grab balls.

have to be honest, currently, my game is good enough that I am so focused on the next shot and avoiding db, that I really have to think about the rating: grass on the fairway - check, grass on the tees - check, patchy, pock-marked greens -check. As one of a hand full of affordable courses in south San Diego, I guess I should be thankful it is still open! They are serving brews adn burgers, which is more than some places, so come on down and keep them in business.

Got out early, worked on some things, done in less than four hours - a beautiful thing! Fairways are dormant and greens bumpy for always a course to test you game against.

what more can you say - they are trying, but too many rounds and too many hacks like me = best value in town for little grass and a longish round

for what they ask, you could ask for more: everything was wet except the slick green - tap the putt and watch it go.
Pace of play was lousy due to an inattentive starter and for the price, you would expect more

We all know what this course is and for all the play it gets, it is getting better, at least the greens are, bare fairways and tee boxes are the norm.

Nice enough course, when the rack rate was $40. Then, with the name change, it went up to $50, turn of the year $60 and now $70: same course and very easy to get on because the higher rate is not fooling anyone into thinking this is on 'par' with the mid-high courses in San DIego county: lots of available tee times, every day, all day.

This is one of my favorite courses: great layout, easy to book, tight fairways and tricky greens. Did I same "fairways"? how about fuzzy dirt? Same with the 'sand traps': gives SAND a bad name - very inconsistent and since I found many, I would know.
Recommend to a friend? YES, because of the course design. Staff? so so: got there early and they could have sent me out early, but didn't... they DID send a 5-some out ahead of my tee time group and they certainly were on the BYOB program.
Still recommend the course and will play it again.
