Kino Springs Golf Course
Played On 10/30/2018OPEN AND READY FOR PLAY!!
Glad to see the course is open again and available for play. Fairways and greens were in great shape, but fairways needed some mowing. Tee boxes were rough. Green speed was good. Course condition has greatly improved and should continue to get better as maintenance crew continues their work.
Tubac Golf Resort - Rancho/Otero
Played On 09/11/2018Rancho/Anza Nines Challenge
These two nine hole layouts are great. However the course seemed very wet and slow, possibly due to the monsoon rains. There was little roll out off the tee and mud on the ball. Fairways also showed some "brown out" areas which may be a result of fungus. Certain tee boxes needed attention and with aeration coming, maybe improvement will be seen. Greens were very soft and holding. Greens looked faster than they actually were which created some frustration on longer putts. Overall playing Tubac Golf Resort is a great experience especially the Rancho nine. And hats off to Tin Cup hole #4 on Rancho!
Kino Springs Golf Course
Played On 08/01/2018WHEN WILL KINO SPRINGS REOPEN???
I was very disappointed a few months ago to hear the course had closed, but may reopen in October...??? This course has a great layout with many various types of shots required. Very sad to about the course closing. If at all possible hopefully Kino Springs will reopen and allow play. And hopefully they will also correct and maintain course maintenance from tee to green. When this course is in good condition, it's a great course!!
HOPE TO SEE KINO SPRINGS OPEN AGAIN!!!!
Kino Springs Golf Course
Played On 05/05/2018Course Showing Lack of Water
One of my favorite courses when course conditions are maintained. Over the last 3-4 months, course was showing very good maintenance tee through greens. As of yesterday, course is showing signs of stress most likely from lack of watering especially tee boxes and fairways. Grass around greens remains watered and greens were in good shape, hard and firm, and rolled well. If the watering issues continue, it will be sad to see the course in a few weeks.
San Pedro Golf Course
Played On 04/14/2018Course Conditions Highly Improved
This course has a great lay out and offers a multitude and variety of shots. Conditions have improved greatly since I played last, and I would recommend the course for all skill levels. Tee boxes and fairways were in good shape. Greens were hard and firm, yet playable with lines and speeds consistent. Speed of play could have been better as threesome in front was slow following many errant shots plus "stops" for the cart lady and some beers & Bloody Mary's. They had a good time.
The 19th Hole had good service and food.
Kino Springs Golf Course
Played On 03/31/2018Kino Springs is well worth playing...!!!
The course continues to be in very good shape with tee boxes and fairways being very green and playable. The greens are firm and rolling well and quick. I would say that golfers should do better in repairing ball marks on the greens. Otherwise I highly recommend playing Kino Springs before the summer arrives and drys out the course.
Kino Springs Golf Course
Played On 03/08/2018Best Condition Ever
Having played Kino Springs for several years, yesterday's course condition was the best I've seen. Tee boxes and fairways were in excellent condition and well maintained. The greens were in good condition, fast and firm, making holding incoming shots proving to be a challenge. The only issue noted was slow play by groups ahead of our group, which was frustrating at times. In any case KIno is well worth playing and enjoying in its current condition.
San Pedro Golf Course
Played On 03/06/2018Excellent Course Layout, but needs help....
I've always considered San Pedro to be an excellent course and layout, but it seems it always needs "attention" in various ways. This course could be one of the best in southern Arizona if the course conditions and facilities could be upgraded. Tee boxes and fairways were good. Bunkers were in need of work with many in bad shape (hard or holding water). Greens were OK with speed, however coot droppings were highly evident on some greens near lakes, ball marks went unnoticed by prior golfers, and shoe scuff marks were evident on many greens.
In any case this course is good to play occasionally as it can be very challenging if you don't know the course. Too bad the course can't acquire a quality owner with sufficient means to make needed improvements.
Turquoise Valley Golf Course & RV Park
Played On 02/03/2018History Repeats
The course is generally fun and certain holes do present challenges. Overall the course was in fair condition with winter showing its effect upon parts of the course. Greens were bumpy with speed consistency a challenge. It was also sad to hear that the course is up for sale again. The restaurant was closed and won't reopen until a new owner is confirmed. The bar was open, so that helped.
Turquoise Valley Golf Course & RV Park
Played On 12/16/2017Diamond in the Rough
Course is out of the way in Naco, AZ, but it's fun to play. Front nine is traditional type layout with the back nine more of a desert layout. Course has had maintenance issues, but seems to be dealing with these issues much better currently. Greens have come back well and fairways are much improved.
The restaurant has some of the best Mexican food around and is worth visiting. Overall a trip to Turquoise Valley is worth the time and should be fun.
San Pedro Golf Course
Played On 11/18/2017Improved Course Conditions
Course showed great improvement over last time I played it, which was about 5 months ago. At that time greens and fairways were hurting. This time tees, fairways and greens were in very good condition. Bunkers need work and some were under renovation. Overall the course has a great layout and will challenge your shot making.
Kino Springs Golf Course
Played On 10/14/2017Course is working to improve conditions.
Kino Springs is challenging as tee shots require accuracy especially #5 through #13. The fairways have recently been over seeded and carts were required on paths or through rough areas on sides of fairways. Tee shots were not getting much roll due to wetness from watering the over seeding. Greens were soft and holding. Greens were in good shape for the most part and looked faster than they actually were. It was good to see that Kino Springs was working to improve overall course conditions. The course is truly great to play and the views from the inner holes is great as well.
Tubac Golf Resort - Rancho/Otero
Played On 09/16/2017Great Resort Course!
The course was in very good condition as we played the Anza/Ranch courses. Tee boxes and fairways were well maintained while greens were very good albeit soft and holding to incoming shots. Greens actually looked faster than they actually were, but rolled well. Only concern noted was Bermuda type rough adjacent to fairways where the rough tended to "hide" ball as balls tended to "sink" down in the rough. You could be standing ten feet from the ball and not see it. This is a great place to enjoy golf and the amenities of the resort.
Kino Springs Golf Course
Played On 09/07/2017Scenic Round of Golf
Course was not busy and allowed our group to play at a good pace. Tee boxes and fairways showed some stress, but overall were in good condition. Greens had been recently punched, so they were with challenge considering line and speed. This course starts out somewhat easy, then goes up into the mountains, which do not allow errant shots. It finishes on relatively flat lands but still maintains its challenge. This is a very enjoyable course to play and enjoy your surroundings.
Kino Springs Golf Course
Played On 03/16/2017Very Good Course Conditions
The staff at Kino have done an excellent job in getting this course back into very good condition. Tee boxes and fairways were in great shape and visually appealing. The greens were in very good condition, firm, and with green speeds average plus. Putting lines held well and not much change on speed from green to green. Only issue I saw was the bunkers having little sand and very firm under what sand was evident. You had to be very careful on bunker shots so as to not hit thin. Overall the course is the best I've seen in long time.
del Lago Golf Club
Played On 02/16/2017Patience and Virtue as a Guide
It was cold and a little windy when we started. The course demands that you play your shots to areas on fairways and greens that will help scoring. Missing these shots can really elevate your score. Fairways were in great shape as were the tee boxes. Greens appeared to have been sanded recently with areas showing continued sand accumulation. Putting lines were hard to hold with greens being a little bumpy. Otherwise a great day at the course.
Pueblo del Sol Golf & Country Club
Played On 02/14/2017On Par with most Public Courses
Golf course is well maintained especially the greens that are quick. Fairways and tee boxes in good condition, however players could be more helpful in filling in their divots. Front nine is more interesting than back nine as holes 9 thru 16 are all par 4's. Course is worth playing.
San Pedro Golf Course
Played On 02/11/2017Great Course to Play
The overall layout of the course is excellent as challenges abound on every hole. Accuracy is a premium for good scoring as any scattered shots will cost you. Fairways and greens were in good condition. Areas around greens were firm which made chipping very challenging as balls tended to bounce forward instead of checking on green. Also when the course has wind the challenge factor rises considerably to maintain your shots accurately. Overall a course well worth playing.
Kino Springs Golf Course
Played On 02/04/2017Hidden Gem
It had been a few months since playing Kino, so I was looking forward to seeing the conditions of the course. The fairways were in excellent shape while greens were great and not overly fast except for downhill putts. I was impressed with course conditions since Kino conditions can change given the weather...hot or cold. I highly recommend getting out to play the course.
del Lago Golf Club
Played On 12/10/2016Course Design is Great!
I've played del Lago many times and I have experienced many levels of "course conditions" there. Saturday the tee boxes and fairways were in very good condition, however the greens were at best "suspect". They were very patchy and bumpy making any putt questionable as to line and speed. The greens need some attention to get them back to a reasonable level of play. Otherwise the course is well laid out with many challenging shots from tee to green. The course is well worth playing and would get only better with improved greens condition.
