San Pedro Golf Course
Played On 10/02/2014Good course but overall conditions need to improve.
Course recently reopened after Fall maintenance and has not fully recovered. Greens were in good condition, soft and holding, and speed was average. Noticed too many ball marks not repaired. Fairways and tee boxes needed mowing. Sand traps also needed weed cleaning and new sand. Play was slow due to a few groups appearing to have beginner players who appeared to have little knowledge of keeping pace. Also cart paths are some of the most dusty that I've played at any course. Your bag and gear needs a complete cleaning when you finish the round. I will say that the course layout is great if it could only be maintained consistently.
Tubac Golf Resort - Rancho/Otero
Played On 09/23/2014Resort course and slow play.
Played Otero and Anza courses. The Otero was somewhat soggy in fairways but playable. Greens were soft and appeared not to have been mowed for a couple of days, thus slow. Anza course was in good shape and played well. Greens were in good condition.
Biggest problem was slow play. When we finished the first hole on Otero and proceeded to #2, there were four groups on the tee and a group down the fairway. The pace did pick up somewhat, but the par 3's had 3-4 groups waiting to hit. This was the slowest I've ever seen on a nine hole stretch. The Anza pace was good as apparently the ranger "prompted" a couple groups that were five or six groups ahead. Overall Tubac is a great place to play and this may have been an exception.
del Lago Golf Club
Played On 09/13/2014Windy and Challenging
Although the wind was blowing quite strong, the round was fun and challenging. The tee boxes, fairways and greens were in good condition. The greens were grainy and somewhat slower than normal, which made longer putts very hard to judge speed. The bunkers need some work as many had need of sand and removal of weed growth. The lakes and water areas show excessive growth of reeds, which detracts from the visual appearance. I am presuming that when the course begins its fall/winter aeration and course maintenance work, the traps and lake areas will receive attention. This course continues to be one of my favorites and I recommend it highly.
Kino Springs Golf Course
Played On 08/23/2014Monsoon Green and Lush
The course was in very good shape reflecting the monsoon rains recently received. Tee boxes and fairways were in good shape except for a few spots where due to wetness they could not mow. The greens were in great shape, but were putting much slower than the last time I played. Sand traps were not in good shape with very little sand and mostly hard pan causing great difficulty in playing a sand shot. Overall the course played very well and reward good shots.
del Lago Golf Club
Played On 08/16/2014Hot and Muggy
The course is in good condition although some of the fairways did show signs of heat stress and brown patches. The greens were very grainy and bumpy which affected putting speeds and lines. Course had a lot of groups which dictated speed of play.
Tubac Golf Resort - Rancho/Otero
Played On 07/24/2014Resort course and dealing with the heat & humidity.
Played the Otero and Anza nines as the Ranch was closed. Went out as a single and play was fast. Hardly no one was on the course except for some very tee time players (my tee time was 9:00 am). The greens were in good condition, but very soft with relative slow green speeds. Fairways did show some heat stress (brown and patchy) in areas which made some lies "iffy" at best. Given pace of play that was excellent, I thought the course was well worth playing.
Kino Springs Golf Course
Played On 07/19/2014After the Monsoons
I've played the course many times and always enjoy it. The monsoon rains really did help the tee boxes and fairways, albeit some are still rough in places. The greens are in excellent shape and putt well although somewhat slower due to the recent rains and softer greens. This is a great value for a golf course that provides varying shot considerations as elevation changes occur.
Kino Springs Golf Course
Played On 06/14/2014Summer Challenge
The course continues to be challenging to all levels of play. The fairways appeared to need water, but played very well and fast. The tee boxes needed water as well, but very playable. The greens were in very good condition and with good speed. Course management is a prime factor in playing this course, especially for holes #6 through #13, where accuracy becomes a premium.
San Pedro Golf Course
Played On 05/24/2014A variety of hole layouts makes it challenging.
Fairways and greens in very good condition with greens running at a good pace. Tee boxes were a little rough and need attention. Watch out for the rough areas as some places are very "rough" and should be addressed by staff. Course layout is very good and poses a challenge at any level.
San Ignacio Golf Club
Played On 04/05/2014Tight and challenging.
Overall the course was in good condition. Fairway rough grass was a little spotty. Greens held, but speed was slower than they looked. A real issue is many of the greens are protected on sides and back with deep "grass bunkers". However many of these had little to no grass and were over watered, which created mud lies and very difficult to hit any kind of recovery shot. The course is challenging and requires a premium on accuracy, but is fair.
Kino Springs Golf Course
Played On 03/25/2014Changing elevations
The course has been well maintained and plays very well.
Enjoy the views, especially during the middle holes, but keep it in
the fairway. I continue to enjoy the variety of holes and how the course challenges all of your game. Greens putt very well and may vary in speed, so beware.
Kino Springs Golf Course
Played On 03/04/2014A great venue to play!
Course is being maintained in great shape. Greens are running with good speed and holding shots. Fairways are maintained very well and bunkers have shown improvement with added sand. Well worth playing and enjoying the view from the middle ten holes.
Still no restaurant/bar open for 19th Hole sessions.
del Lago Golf Club
Played On 02/19/2014Challenging and Fair Course
Course is in good condition and very playable. Tees and fairways were in good shape and maintained. Greens were running at a good speed, yet very bumpy. Careful if you get into sand traps as some have deep wet sand while others have little sand and plenty of rocks. Traps could use some maintenance. Pace of play was somewhat slow due to foursome ahead of our group. They appeared to be beginners and very slow due to poor shot making through the greens. And they did not offer to let our group through even though no groups could be seen in front of them. Otherwise a great day of golf.
San Pedro Golf Course
Played On 02/15/2014Good visual layout
Overall course was in good shape with fairways and greens maintained. Course seemed to be over watered as fairways were soggy and even rough showed excessive wetness. Greens were running fast and maybe too fast for the recreational and/or "snow bird" type players frequenting the course. Play was very slow and we waited on every hole to hit shots. Also sand and grass bunkers need some attention to improve play. Cart paths need improvement as very dusty.
del Lago Golf Club
Played On 01/11/2014Very well conditioned course.
The entire course was in excellent shape. Greens were very fast on front nine, but less fast on back nine. Great layout with many challenging holes for every level. The only issue I saw was players ahead of our group did not rake their footprints in traps.
Pueblo del Sol Golf & Country Club
Played On 01/07/2014Expect fast greens.
The front nine holes are wide fairways which usually give you open shots into the greens. Greens are somewhat inconsistent as to whether they will hold shots or let them release out. The back nine starts off (#10 & 11) very challenging to make par. However the back nine gives you seven par 4's in a row finishing with a long par 3 and average par 5. Greens are consistent with the front nine. Overall course is challenging and worth playing.
Rio Rico Golf Club
Played On 12/31/2013Course layout is very good.
The course has made some improvements over the last year, however much improvement remains. Tee boxes and fairways were in fairly good shape. The greens need a lot of work and improvement as they are grainy, bumpy and dead in spots. I had thought that a management change of last year would yield the course in much better condition than it presently is showing. This course is a great layout if only maintained in better and/or improved conditions. It is a course worth playing if you can get a discounted green fee and exhibit some patience.
Ventana Canyon - Canyon Course
Played On 12/26/2013Very well conditioned course.
Both the Canyon and Mountain courses were in excellent condition. Greens seemed a bit grainy, but lines were true. Overall a good value for the green fees paid.
San Pedro Golf Course
Played On 11/16/2013Course is well laid out and challenging.
The course has made improvements to the tee boxes, fairways and greens and it shows. Greens were somewhat inconsistent in speed, but overall good. Only negative is cart paths and side travel areas as they are mostly dirt with some gravel covering. Very dusty and after a round your bag will show it. Otherwise a fun course to play and enjoy.
Tubac Golf Resort - Rancho/Otero
Played On 11/02/2013Excellent resort course
Great service and attention to you having a great time playing golf. Course(s) Rancho & Anza) were in great shape through out. I thought greens were running a bit slow most likely to accommodate the guests playing the course. Overall an excellent course and facilities.
