Starts at the BAG DROP...staff on hand to remove and return bag from cart...to check in...then to be directed to the range for included driving/putting/chipping/sand practice...to bottled water at the starter...then the course itself(NICKLAUS) was just right...played a different course earlier in the week, and had 7 of 9 holes plug on drivers...not so here...greens are quick and true...just full of class...even the men's locker room...will have to find time to enjoy it all the next time...well worth the trip from just about anywhere

After all the rain here in MA, that the course even had 9 holes for carts was a testament to its ground crew...the front 9 were soggy and mgmt made a great decision to NOT allow carts, thus protecting it from, what has become a rampant disregard this Fall, in many of the courses played of, not honoring the 90 degree/cart path only rules...really need the Rangers out in force to protect/preserve...

Greens actually saw a few shots create...DIVOTS...that is a testament to the mgmt...

Thanks to mgmt for being the starting place for the 2019 season...great value when all 18 are open...playing back 9, 2x, was just fine...had a blast with the playing partners

If one dressed properly, the day was perfect...a cool breeze...the course, this late in the season was in great shape...just wish folks would stop ruining fairways by driving on them with carts ...not observing cart path or 90 degree protocols...add in, the greens with divots still not being fixed by golfers...wish they could have had a Ranger out there more often...or get carts that are forced to stay on the paths...alas, a municipal course will likely never see that level of tech...too bad...a true gem...tests distance, shot placement and putting...a true gem

After a torrential rain squall hit the area yesterday, did not think the course would be playable but the construction and groundskeepers all did a great job as the sun and a gentle breeze made it a great day...remember, this ia a great MUNICIPAL course and needs our help since there may be budget cuts......you wont be disappointed...

That a public course is in such great shape and has been so for such a long and consistent time is a tribute to its owners...just counting the number of pieces of equipement alone at the storage area will impress, then, add in they are doing things like using blowers to clear leaves, vacuums as well...as they prepare for the coming off season, it was the first time we had to deal with a fairway being aerated...should have grabbed some of the plugs for my back yards bare spots...do check in...wont be disappointed....

Fairways were in good shape...greens need to be rolled...since recent golfers forgot their divot tool...way too many inconsiderate golfers...they should use 2-3 tees to fix their greens divots...

The course benefitted due to another course closing; and Maplegate employed the closed greenskeeper. One of our foursome, chatted up another golfer who stated the course was in great condition. Clearly, after playing today, dont trust what you hear. The tee boxes were a mess, the fairways patchy/burned out, staff all over cutting grass(where they found any would be the question), Our foursome has played this course over the years and found it to be a value when discounted rates via GOLFNOW were available. This year, the rate to play was noticeably higher(again to take advantage of golfers moving from closed course), and we were optimistic the new greenskeeper would have a positive impact. We will need to let the course owners put a lot more monies into it...for now, the extra cash flow is not showing up...and for the price we paid, it is, currently OVER PRICED...may try it again in a year or two...such potential...lots of make up to do to get it to where the pricing is at least reasonable...we play public courses and know what a good course looks like and pricing is also a value proposition...be patient with them for another 1-2 years...there is still a ton of work to be done, i.e., aerating the fairways...and tee boxes, but no fill...lots of pure dirt spots on virtually every fairway...patience is urged, but, do adjust expectations for this course...vs what you pay for it

Best to have someone who plays it regularly...the signage directing to next hole can be improved if, if, you are new...the traps guarding the fairway and greens require precision shots and several holes are blind to the green...hence, the second time thru, the score was back to normal for a 9 hole round(low 40's)...the back 3 holes will be most interesting to say the least and will be gorgeous in the FALL...just wish they would get rid of the bees/hornets nest just off to the left of the 7th tee box...but do play this with a deep GOLFNOW discount...

Great course...awesome shape...always see groundsmen working on something ...

Greens are full of nuance breaks at the last minute...would be nice to see a true roll on a good read without it breaking 3 feet away at the 6 interval(9th hole for one)...

Some pin placements do need to be checked vs the PGA guidelines(pins on hill CRESTS???)

Great place and will continue to play...have master the blaster to putt...LOL

Was the one rider, with three walkers...advised STARTER this was my first time...said to just follow them and they would guide me around the course...problem was, I am Caucasian and they were Asian and other than the initial introductions(and finding a few stray shots) never spoke any English the entire round...but, that aside, there were way too many BLIND SHOTS for someone on site for the first round...even with most electronics, you have HIDDEN GREENS either by elevation or actual rocks(think it was the 10th) or, a dog left with the green below...soggy in a number of places...course well maintained, grounds crew does keep it in great shape...after an hours drive, based on a recommendation from MA...the shots require, more than just PRECISION striking, but outstanding distance control...since there are too many blind shots and the score card is not much help...even the electronics I had struggled...but...the parking lot was jammed when I left, so there is a large and loyal following for sure...but, there are too many other courses nearer, where I can see what and where I have to place my shots...

The greens were hard as a rock...put up a 46 degree wedge on the part 3 16th hole, dropping it 6 feet left of the pin, and it BOUNCE UP about 3 feet...when looking for the divot, could not find one...

With the pin placements, and these rock hard conditions, it makes putting difficult to say the least...do wonder if perhaps they should look at the rule book about placing pins on the crest of greens humps...hole 17 and 6 come to mind...

Once the greens soften, this will be a good course again, for now, be ready to watch your perfect paced putt, that goes 3 feet north of the hole , turn slowly and accelerate 6 past the hole due to the conditions...

Give it a couple of weeks to get some grass growing...say Mid MAY

The entire staff keeps the place just amazing...just a cold Spring day that got warmer as the sun came out...greens still have their funky last 6 inch changes...well worth the monies...and they do a great job with the grounds crew...kudos belong to them for their hard work...look to play their first if I can

...the putter has to be working...the greens are some of the most difficult to read...with last minute breaks ...no rewards for good shots to the green...saw ball roll right off into the water with barely touching it...

Course is being prepared for the coming season with lots of trench work that will definetly pay off later in the season...the loss of one of the courses this year and another in a few years(housing) will make this one of the local courses...they are doing a GREAT job

...at the golf office...started cool, then got drizzles, then steady light rain...and like and golfer at this time of year, played through it...nice course, extreeeeemly well maintained...this course remains a great play for most any level player...enjoy this round since winter has now set in here in the NE...putting practice time!

The WIND was relentless and it was just part of the days expectations...what was not expected(and something we golfers may take for granted), was that the CARTS had NO FRONT SHIELD...for rain, or wind...all the carts SIDES were exposed...and on a day like Sunday...made having a hat and gloves an mandate...course was in great shape...just wish those playing would be alert to the wet spots(cart tracks dug into the fairways) and be courteous enough to fix divots...else, just a good day all around...

Like playing two different courses...the back 9 was aerated, and no notice was posted recently over the past two weeks...I do look almost daily to see if this course IS available...thus, I probably have a better sense...else, the traffic on the course was light and moved along nicely...definetly a good value...play it and challenge yourself...

What a great course ...at this time of year...virtually no leaves anywhere on any hole...kudos to the Super and course staff...will be back...looking forward to the spring and summer season...plays longer than it reads ...need to play SCORING golf vs GRIP/RIP...hard to lose a ball, but it can be done if one does not stay within ones self...

Normal weather delay due to frost backed up the start times as expected, and was handled with all due professionalism...

NOTE TO GOLF NOW THOUGH...the threesome I was matched up with, came via the GOLFNOW website and added an unplanned on 4th to complete their group...if not for the ability of the staff to reroute myself, not sure what would have happened to either side of that potential situation...

As is was, played with three great fellow golfers, got done very quickly since we did not lose too many balls...

Will recommend the entire course and just a good day...

Even though it was quiet on Sunday, the course played well...earlier in the week the greens were very soft with multiple divots needed to be repaired...Sunday saw them turn dry and hard...played with others that hit shots that brought rain down, and were hard pressed to see a divot anywhere...but, the course is just fine...the front 9 plays much easier than the 12th (over massive water hazard) and turtle back, elevated green with horrendous roll(regardless of where the cup is placed)...had a player having the round of his life with a sub 80 in range...and barely broke 90 with the multiple putts and rolls on the 18th...saw the ball make a U turn on a miss...wild...else, just have great time and enjoy...well worth the trip and will look forward to playing here for this year and next...

...nice course, still, one must add in some drying time for the greens, else you will end up using a 7 iron to putt...the 12th hole really should be something the mgmt looks at...having to effectively drive well, then do a small/moderate lay up to get to the front, just so you can clear the water, on a down hill slope, to the elevated green is...well, try it a few times...just use garbage balls...LOL...the 18th green is an elevated turtle back and a beast if you forget to come in on the left side...say putts do an actual U TURN from above...still scoring is fairly easy...have fun, but do look out for the above...will play again for sure
