About
Variety is the spice of life. I enjoy playing new courses and exploring what they have to offer. To date I've played 544 different courses, from Pebble Beach to St. Andrews. I have also played every public course in New Jersey and many in the surrounding states. I'm always looking for somewhere new to play. @aol.com

Blue/Red at Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort

Very enjoyable round. Some great green complexes that were fun to putt. Conditions were good throughout. And $39 for weekday seniors, can't beat that.
The Lynx at River Bend Golf Club
Played On 07/12/2018A.W Tillinghast?
Built 9 hole in 1922. There is very little left that resembles anything he's done. Conditions are terrible throughout. Some greens have bare spots. The routing was very strange also, pay attention to the signs. Local knowledge would help as there are a few blind T shots. Drove an hour and a half to play, certainly not worth that. Very few playing which is why the pace of play was good. Good points, there are a few nice green complexes and they are certainly working on the course. Play it once if you haven't, but certainly not worth a long drive.
Spook Rock Golf Course
Played On 07/09/2018It doesn't get...
...much better than this for public golf. Great layout. Great conditions throughout. This is a must play.
Princeton Country Club
Played On 07/08/2018Fun to play
Greens and tee's were in great shape. There was some drainage problems as several holes were cart path only.
Deerfield Golf & Tennis Club
Played On 07/02/2018Roller Coaster Ride
Very few flat lies on this course. Don't be fooled by the yardage. This course plays long, with many uphill holes, especially most greens were raised up too. And plenty of blind shots. I should be easier next time around
High Bridge Hills Golf Club
Played On 06/29/2018Pick the right tee's
This course plays tougher than the yardage indicates. Check the slope rating, one of the highest around.
Conditions were great throughout. Don't hit it in the long stuff.
A good reminder of the Tee it Forward initiative of the USGA... play what tee is appropriate for your ability! Thank you for playing with us.
South Shore Golf Course
Played On 06/22/2018It was like playing it for the first time...
....because it was 40 years since the last time. To me everything was better. A fun layout without too much trouble. The greens were very good.
The Inn At Pocono Manor - East Course
Played On 06/20/2018Only Once
Some strange holes here with plenty of blind T shots.
Even a down hill par 3 that you can't see the green. Look out for the rocks in the rough. I did like all the inverted grass bunkers. And I really enjoyed the Donald Ross greens.
Bowling Green Golf Club

A very quiet setting with beautiful conditions. 4th hole is silly, other wise a good layout. It's a little pricey too.
Glen Brook Country Club
Played On 06/14/2018Worth the Drive from NJ
Some very interesting holes, that really make you think. Starting with the first, blind tee shot uphill. No.9, stay right on this steeply sloping fairway. I hit it in the left rough and wound up in the right rough. 15th par 5 2nd shot is blind over a creek. 16th par 3, straight up hill.
Conditions were good throughout.
Fairway Mews Golf Club
Played On 06/08/2018Fun Day
A very enjoyable day playing this course which is an easy walk. It is all about the green complexes, that are not easy. This course was built over an old Donald Ross course and I think they may have saved some of the greens.
Country Club of the Poconos Municipal Golf Course
Played On 06/07/2018Certainly Different
Not one hole was near another. 13.1 miles of cart path,
honestly! Very, very hilly with no bail out anywhere. Either fairway or lost ball. Condition were good throughout. And some very scenic holes. Play it and be amazed.
Shark River Golf Course
Played On 06/04/2018Long time...
...since the last time I played here. It is much improved. Conditions were good through even though it was heavy rain the night before. It is also longer, 300+ yard since the last time I played here. 5 Par 4's over 400.
18th hole, par 5 from the white tees 578 yds. Come on!!!
Bella Vista Country Club
Played On 05/30/2018Enjoyable Round!
Don't be fooled by the yardage, this is a challenging course. Fairways are narrow, 25 yds wide, then the heavy rough and then the trees. favorite holes, #8 par 3, 215 yds through a narrow opening in the trees. #18, short par 4 with a sharp dogleg right to a small green fronted by a pond. The greens were small and excellent.
Coakley-Russo Memorial Golf Course
Played On 05/22/2018A Throwback...
...to earlier times, like playing golf 100 years ago.
Rough was deep and will cost you a stroke. There are "NO" bunkers on the course. There is some native areas but are far from the fairway. There are no power carts available. Push/pull carts yes, or you can bring your own. Fairly level, so it is walkable.
The Ridge At Back Brook
Played On 05/21/2018Absolutely Stunning
Incredible architecture throughout on this rolling terrain. The clubhouse is spectacular too. And very, very challenging.
Seaview - The Bay Course
Played On 05/15/2018Don't let...
...the yardage fool you. This is not an easy course. The Donald Ross greens are a challenge. Looking forward to the LPGA playing here in a few weeks
Shore Gate Golf Club
Played On 05/14/2018Played here...
...many years ago when it was ranked very high in the state. Not anymore. Conditions where lacking, especially the bunkers, which there are quite a few.
The course was wet so it was cart path only, which I understand, but is was still very difficult because of the moguls and and bunkers lining most fairways. And there are some long walks from green to next tee.
Architecturally, it is visually exciting.
Mountain View Golf Course
Played On 05/07/2018A Good Challenge
It's been 20+ years since I played it last and it is so much better. Good conditions throughout. It looks like William and David Gordon had something to do with this course. Just could have used a ranger.
Tumblebrook Golf Course
Played On 05/02/2018Just a lot of fun
The Donald Ross greens keep it very interesting.
No. 4/13 is the inverted bowl. Hit from one side it rolls off the other. Really need to approach from the front.
I liked the 6 sets of tees, front, middle, back, they could change the hole dramatically.
Hey U4805245
Most of my reviews (230+)are positive, but I call them as I see them. This course needs a lot of work. I really hesitate on making a negative review. I don't see any other reviews from you.
I travel extensively throughout the US so I rely heavily on reviews for certain things. I just finished 18 holes and I must say, this has to be one of the more misleading reviews that I’ve read in quite some time. In relation to the 5 recent courses that I’ve played, this course has some of the best views and overall scenery out there. It’s clear that the ownership has taken much pride in fixing/updating conditions that were neglected in years past. For the money, $45, one of the best around! Well worth the drive.
