Swing away at the new Pebble Beach Golf Academy & Practice Facility

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. -- The new Pebble Beach Golf Academy & Practice Facility gives golfers the proper place to warm up for one of the game's grandest stages, the Pebble Beach Golf Links.

The smaller old range often felt overcrowded and required hitting off mats. The new facility, located up a hill from the first tee and across the street from the nine-hole par-3 Peter Hay Golf Course, opened in January, 2014. It features plenty of space on a 350-yard, double-ended driving range that can accommodate up to 85 golfers. A luxury shuttle transports golfers to and from the range.

Target greens framed by bunkers mimic the look of approach shots on the course. A 40,000-square-foot short game complex offers bunkers, chipping areas and a large putting green (there's also a putting green near the first tee). The golf academy houses three indoor instruction studios for lessons and golf schools. A date with some cool technology, including a revolutionary robotic swing trainer, 3D motion capture system, HD video analysis, computerized putting stroke analysis and an indoor golf simulator, could help your game.
