VICTOR, N.Y. -- Ravenwood Golf Club might be the public golfer's version of Oak Hill Country Club in greater Rochester.

Located 20 miles southeast of Rochester, Ravenwood, is always in good condition ready to host another quality tournament. Oak Hill is the only club in America to host the PGA Championship, the Ryder Cup, the U.S. Open, the U.S. Amateur, the U.S. Senior Open and the Senior PGA Championship. Ravenwood counters with other USGA and PGA qualifiers and American Junior Golf Association events, and hosted the 2003 and 2009 New York Men's Amateur Golf Championships.

The 7,051-yard Ravenwood, ranked the fifth best new public golf course in the country by Golf Digest in 2003, entertains and challenges golfers with a parade of elevated tees and greens, juicy rough and thick fescue. Water hazards and wetlands guard seven holes, including four of the final five. Three par-4 holes play shorter than 350 yards from the tips, offering higher handicaps a shot at birdie and bombers the chance to drive the green. Thankfully, the shorter 6,080-yard blue tees play pretty forgiving for those of us who aren't ready for tournament golf.
