short but fun
course is not long at all you can maneuver around course fairly easy but bad shots are multiplied danger
Had a great time with my dad and brother. Putting green had not bee mowed and was no where near the course greens. Greens were small. Fairways had clover in them. Overall it was a good time, not too many people were out probably due to the hotter day.
First time playing this course. Good layout for newer golfers; no bunkers, few water hazards, and open fairways. Greens are small and quick. Overall every enjoyable experience and look forward to returning.
Fun course
This was a fun course to play. Most holes, I would recommend leaving your driver in the bag and pull out an iron. The course is short, but don't let it fool you. There are a lot of dogleg holes that challenge your game. While there is not a sand trap on the course, there are several holes that have water. Every green was fast and elevated, making it critical to hit the green in regulation. Overall, I didn't hit the ball well and will be planning a trip back to this little gem. As I said, the course wasn't very long, but will challenge your club discipline and short game. Play smart and you will have a blast.
great fairways and good greens for the money.
Played this course many times and find it to be holding it's own with all other courses in this area. The fairways are in decent shape and greens are good for the Temps we have been having. (90s) Good conditions for the money.
First come Tee
Not a bad course. I reserved 8:15am Tee time and discovered approximately 10 carts in front of me waiting to tee. Granted it was the 4th of July, however they need to honor tee times better.
Play
Nice course. Pace of play needs to go quicker and needs marshals to manage play
Nice course
One of many times playing course. Good greens, fairways nice cut, and also rough areas good. Pace of play good
Very open yet challenging
I heard bad things about this course before i ever played but i was able to secure a great tee time on a great day so i gave it a shot and it was actually one of my favorite course layouts. The course is VERY forgiving yet still challenging. 200 yard par 3. par 4 around a lake, dog leg opportunities to take it over the trees. The club house doesn't look like much, and the greens are very small, but the overall design and condition of the course was great.
Old Style
Old style short course with narrow fairways and small greens. Greens were receptive and rolled pretty nice.
Pretty cool layout, probably a little challenging for the high handicapper. Back nine a little tougher than front. I think the head pro was handling the pro shop desk and you couldn't meet a nicer guy. Great experience overall. Found a deal online, couldn't beat the price!
McCanless great Value Course
A very enjoyable course although it would be nice to have a few sand traps. But if your looking to mock some golf balls around you would not find a better value.
Short course with terrible yardage markers.
I figured I'd give Mccanless a try since it was inexpensive and not too far away. I played at 3:00 and was done by 6:00. That's fast, even for me. I attribute it to the course being so short. I drive it around 250. I played from the tips and was hitting driver and then lob wedge on a lot of holes. The holes have grossly exaggerated yardages from what I could tell. One hole I remember was "360 yards". I hit driver and then a 40 yard pitch shot. Uh... No. I did not drive it 320 yards. So the hole was really 280-290 yards. That's 70-80 yards off! There were a lot of holes like that. I almost drove a "309 yard" par 4. Right. Must have been 260. And it wasn't just the overall posted yardage that was off. I'd be sitting a little past the "100 yard" marker, around 90 yards. Okay, I'll hit a sandwedge that goes about 80-90 yards. Sails over the green. I must have only been 70 yards out, not 90. How can the yardage markers be off by 20%? Every time I looked at a yardage marker or the posted yardage, I felt like it was a complete gamble. There goes another one sailing over the green. Come on! Sometimes I just disregarded the markers and went with what I figured it "really" must be. I really wished I would have had a laser rangefinder for this course. It would have been a lot more fun. But with the course being fairly short and easy, I guess they offset the easiness with crazy-way-off yardage markers. Ridiculous. If I get a laser rangefinder, I may go back... it was cheap.
Other than that... it's a short but narrow course, so you need to drive it fairly accurately. But there's no real trouble out there... no bunkers, not much water. There are some trees and woods and a few OB places that will catch an errant drive, but all in all it was a pretty easy course.
Great Course
Great Saturday morning round of golf. I would recommend to anyone
Recommend you go elsewhere
Overall the course was in poor condition. Fairways were patchy. Some greens were in terrible shape. Pace of play was very slow - almost 5 hours. The worst thing to me was the placement of tee boxes in relation to greens. On at least 6 holes a slightly mishit ball ended up up going into the next set of tee boxes. Tee boxes had little if any protection. Lots of beginner golfers and on 1 hole we had golfers from 2 different parallel fairways playing on our fairway. Fairways were pretty narrow and barriers between were sparsely spaced trees. Guys I was paired up with were told the day before they didn't need tee times and had to wait over an hour to play. I'd recommend you skip this course and try something else in the area.
Short track fun to play.
For a short course it had some teeth. Some narrow fairways that due to lack of rain are hard to hold the course plays hard. Enjoyed scoring on the short holes. VERY good course for older or beginning golfers not a lot of forced carries only two . Great fun will b back.
Hard Greens to hit
This little par 70 is a great challenge for any golfer. The course is not too long but the greens are small and in excellent condition. Fun layout, several difficult teeshots, and great scenery. Some tee boxes and fairways need some water and work but the awesome greens make up for it.
