Audrey/Heathstone good deal @ GolfNow price
First of all, I booked my tee time online and avoided course that had aeration alerts, however for the second straight time I got to the course to find out that the part of the course is closed (there is 36 holes, so I was able to play to different nines). Just frustrating that not all of the courses are updating that information.
Anyway, the course was better than expected. Greens for the most part had a ton of elevation changes making them challenging depending on where you were on the green. Fairways were still in pretty bad shape, lots of spotty areas. Bunkers were brushed, but the sand was "crunchy", hard, and not easy to play.
A/H Course is flat and open for the most part, very forgiving. (I was able to see some of the other 18 while playing and I am interested in coming back to play it another time.)
The pro was nice and friendly.
decent
played by myself on a Sunday morning after rain on Sat. Not heavy rain but course was very wet. Fairway very spotty in places 60/40 grass/mud. Green were nice, not very fast but ran true. Surprised I found a course for this price on a Sunday morning, even in September. St. Andrews/Pine Valley course is wayyyy better than the other 18 here. Not long, but good placement of hills & creeks keeps you focused on the game.
course is in fair condition, good value, 4 nines, not too crowded
course not too crowded, lot of people that don't follow golf etiquite. tee'ing off while you are in the middle of the fairway.
getting better
was good course that went to garbage. however new people doing right things. improving but still need more work which I believe is being done. takes some time, but going in correct direction.
Great Value
I play here frequently via Golf Now. Great value on the Hot Deals. The Pine Valley course needs work. Greens are great, approaches not.
Enjoyable Time
Tees and greens are pretty good. Fairways are rough and lot of bare spots. needs attention but a good value for GOLF NOW price only paid $12. Would play again.
Great Layout - Poor maintenance
The course has a great layout. Holes are difficult. However, the fairway had many mud holes.
I will be back!
Challenging layout (Pine Valley / St. Andrews) with very difficult pin placements
While some of the fairway areas were worn, the majority were green (obviously watered). The greens were well maintained, rolled fairly quick and true, and had very challenging pin placements. The pace of play was okay for a heavily played public course. I'd definitely do it again, especially at the discounted price we got through Golf Now.
IN TERRIBLE CONDITION
COURSE WAS FOR ALL INTENTS AND PURPOSES UNPLAYABLE. GRASS WAS SO LONG IN SOME FAIRWAYS YOU COULDNT FIND YOUR BALL... SOME TEES WERE CLOSED AND GROUND WAS SO HARD A TEE COULD HARDLY BE PLACED IN THE GROUND. A TEE BOX FOR THE WOMEN WAS REPLACED WITH A MAT. I PLAYED HERE A FEW YEARS AGO AND IT WAS NOT IN THIS KIND OF CONDITION. I HOPE THEY JUST HAVE HAD A BAD SEASON OR SOME FLOODING...
okay course
Slow greens!! Bad fairways. Moved my ball from the fairway into the rough to find grass.
Good Course but Needs Work
Emerald Woods has five 9 hole layouts. One is a short, walk only 9. The others are paired Audreys/Heatherstone (easy) and Pine Valley/St Andrews (challenging) - although they sometime let you pair them differently. The Audreys/Heatherstone layout is fairly wide open with only one or two water holes. PV/St A is tight and has more water. I have played here many times and it is a good course. The problem is that the last few times I have been here it has been in rather poor condition on the fairways. Lots of burned out, bare areas. We played "winter rules" and moved the ball to grassy areas to avoid playing out of bare spots or holes in the turf. Greens and tees are in good condition. Maybe the course is in better condition in the spring. It was worth the $$ with the Golfnow heavy discount rate, but I would not pay the full fee until the conditions get better.
Tough to distinguish fairway from the rough. Greens were in good shape though.
Fairways need to be in better condition. Could use more directional markers. Greens were in good shape.
Worst Golf Course in Ohio
Undoubtedly the most under-maintained course anymore. Gone are the days of having brown grass for a typical low-budget course. In are the days of complete and utter course destruction!
Emerald Woods simply has way TOO many holes to maintain. As a result it doesn't look like they maintain a single one of them.
The green's are kept up, but aside form that, there is hardly ANY grass to be found anymore. The fairways are all but gone. Very little money has gone into irrigation of this course. It was bad in the beginning of the year and it has only gotten worse.
I used to think getting a deal for $17 for 18 and a car was worth it, but in reality, it's a waste of time and money for the condition of the course anymore.
I'll be passing on Emerald Woods unless the $9 for 18 and a cart comes along. It's not worth any more than that in my opinion.
I'm sure those of you who have played there know that Emerald Woods is the absolute WORST in the area....
They need to start focusing on Quality and not Quantity anymore.
You will be sorely disappointed if you have never played here before....
You've been warned.
The Worst Course I Have Ever Played
The fairways, cart paths and greens were in horrible shape.
Obviously, the course has been poorly maintained for years. In addition, the layout of most holes resembles an obstacle course, and not a golf course. Truthfully, I will never play this "golf course" again, even if I had a free round.

ive rated this course high today for these reasons i played alone approx. 2.5 hrs was a nice day 11 am tee time for 11 bucks.would play everyday for that . now the course, been playing here for 30+ yrs on the 8/19/2013 greens were smooth but slow ,fairways, sometimes u have to move ball to grassy spot but playable .ussually play here 10 to 20 times a yr this was my 3rd time this yr.1st time took a friend who has never played there they charged 39 . felt that was high for wha we got .2nd time i played alone paid 21 on 8/12/13 was without a doubt the worst greens ive ever seen they where actually unplayable . you had to just slam it and hope.the ball would bounce up and down .it was laughable swore id never play again..but 3rd time 11 bucks. this course is a value at around 18 to 24 on weekends .anything higher is robbery
not worth the $22 bucks
take this review with a grain of salt. i have recently been told that i am becoming a golf snob. i somewhat agree with that name.
i really don't like to find dirt patches all over the fairway. emerald woods fairways are roughly 80 / 20 grass to dirt. the entire first hole fairway was ground under repair roped off with yellow tape. then where it was green, it wasn't always grass. there was clover and weed throughout. i use my own rule that i call a fairway rough rule. if your in the fairway and the lie is dirt or rough - i move it to grass ( never closer though ). i had to use that rule many many times today.
the greens were like carpet. they needed a cut desperately. there was no real first cut or fairway type ring around the green. it went right from rough to green .
in my opinion it's not worth the $22 i payed through golfnow.com. i would rather pay $40 and be hitting off grass. if you and some buddys just want to hack it up....this might be the course for you.
Right price.
Played Audrey and Heatherstone as a single. Starter let me start of the back nine and didn't force me to pair up with anyone, which was appreciated. About 3-4 fairways need some TLC, with several roped off for reseeding.
Overall, played quickly, right price!
Work in Progress
Excellent, well maintained greens. It is clear that management has prioritized the water allocation on the greens. The rest of the course can best be described as a work in progress. A great value and a pleasant course to whack the ball around on a Sunday afternoon.
What a dump!
This was one of the worst courses in North East Ohio. The fairways were bare from all the rain and heat. The back eighteen had not been cut in over a week. The greens were as thick as a shag carpet. Yet the course was still willing to charge full price if we didn't book a tee time through you. We arrived early for our tee time hoping the manager could get us out a little early. But he made us wait until our tee time even though there were several opening or we could have been paired up with another two some. I went because I thought I would give this another chance as I played their five years ago. The place has only got worse.
EMERALD WOODS
The course is in pretty bad shape now; dead grass everywhere, but the price was right.
