Even with high level of rain we have been having , the course was in good shape. Clubhouse staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Average course
Course was average. To have the par 4's be normal and over 600 yard par 5's was odd. Damp course, lots of plugs. Also lost a few balls that should have been in play because there were grass clippings piled up everywhere. Clubhouse had no hot food. just cold sandwiches in ziploc bags. Just average course.
Solid course
Was able to get a great $10 golf now deal 20 min before a last minute noon tee time. Amazing staff, gentleman informed me of a fall 8 man scramble, said I could bounce around to accommodate play, wow. Perfect. After not playing this course for 10 years from a poor experience with prior ownership, I was very happy to see actual fairways, soft quick greens and and overall 150% to the entire course. I also played Louden and will Fostoria CC after knowing the new ownership offers a great membership opportunity to all 3 courses. Looking forward to many more years of growth and improvement. Well on its way. Wish Wayside and Oak Mallet had the same fa

Overall a nice day...On the right track-but not there yet
First...it was a great day playing golf with my daughter at this course! With new ownership this course has massive potential but still needs some work. Renewed clubhouse is very nice and the staff extremely friendly. The course is somewhat long (6900 from the back) and, although being better maintained now, encompasses the same problems it's always had...very dry, very hard, with places in rough with little to no grass. Greens were receptive but not soft and rolled decently true. Front nine is somewhat tight on holes 2-5 but then opens up but if you spray the ball you'll find a pesky tree in the way from time to time. Back nine is pretty straight and gives your mid irons a bit of a workout if you're not a big hitter. If you're playing the back tees their par 3's are the toughest part of the course (one at 200 and one at 221). The course does have some character with the potential course length, in moving tees around - if they can grow some grass and water the fairways a little more it could be a gem. In talking with the staff this course gets a lot of play from seniors in the morning and leagues during the weekday afternoons. For the price and if you're not looking for plush...it's a nice option to the overpriced course on the other side of town.
Pleasantly Surprised
I had not played here in a couple years so I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. The course was in good shape and the changes to the clubhouse looked very nice! The staff greeted me right away and they were very friendly and helpful. Good value for my money.
Great course.
It's under new ownership and making it's way back to the top of list for northwest Ohio. I will play here again for sure. The staff was great as well. Course lay out is easily read and played with a good pace.
Hillcrest is on the right track!
New owner has made major improvements in only 6 months! Doug and Bob are always welcoming and professional inside. The weather this summer has been terrible, so the fairways aren't perfect, but the greens show the effort and desire to return Hillcrest to a "must play" in northwest Ohio.
Hillcrest is a work in progress
Hillcrest used to be one of the premier golf courses in Hancock county. But has fallen off the map the last several years. Now under new ownership I believe the course will make a come back to premier status. A little rough in spots and I see some work being done to there cart paths. Overall a good experience only time will tell how the new owners will shape this course.
