good
I like the course very much.would tell other people.
Blue Course in very sad condition....greens, fairways, & tee boxes have seen much better days.
Course needs tons of work. Most of the greens have bare spots. The fairways had been recently cut..it looked like they were ready to start baling. Many of the tee boxes were totally bare. On the bright side there were some fun, interesting holes. #1 & #18 were risk/reward holes...better to lay up to creek and then hit long uphill 2nd shots. May consider playing next year!
Horrible Conditions
Played this course in the past, was never great, but today was totally awful. Greens had terrible dry spots and were not puttable. I only played the whole round because my partner just asked to finish and not come back. Fairways were about as low as me cutting my lawn. Dry spots everywhere tee box actually had weeds on it. This was by far the worst course I have played. Until they do a complete rehaul, I will not be back. I have photos to prove.
it rained all day didn,t go to course because of rain would like to get money back
rain all day want a rain check
once and done
Blue course - Until this course gets their act together, I will not be back. Supposedly they invested in a new irrigation system but the greens were dead dry with brown/dirt spots on every hole, some had cracks from the dryness that were like putting over the grand canyon. every hole is straight so as long as you hit it in the fairway you should score well. the conditions were just terrible. I wouldn't even call the traps sand traps, more like brown dirt areas.
One and Done
Seems to be a frequent comment, but this was my first and last visit. Other reviewers have accurately portrayed the bad conditions. I paid $10 and feel they should have paid me $10 to play.
Course conditions
1) Overall is good.
2) Summer time ground conditions are not maintained well due to extremely hot and dry conditions.
3) Course management is helpful.
The Blue "Links" Course is a Disappointment.
I am not a fussy golfer, but my first (and last) round on the Highland Park "Links" course was very disappointing. The fairways are full of ruts and bare spots, and the un-mowed rough is full of bigger ruts, grass clumps, goose droppings, branches, and more. My friend and I lost at least 6 balls each in the high rough, despite carefully tracking the line of flight. The greens are VERY fast for lack of water, and whoever is changing the cup locations should be fired immediately. Every plug from "yesterday's hole" was uneven with the surface, and had a large air gap around it. This gap has caused most of the plugs to die, creating a series of 4-inch divots across the green.
The blue course is long, so we played the gold tees at about 5700 yards. The gold "tee boxes" are little more than sort-of mowed areas in the fairway, with lots of debris, bare spots, and uneven ground.
For what it's worth, I have played the Red "Valley" course twice previously, and had a much better impression. The red is also far from country club, but quite adequate for a value round.
The great suburban location of Highland Park has such potential, if only the city of Cleveland would invest some money. C;mon guys . . . You have a potential gem. Take care of it!
Highland park
The greens and fairways were great .. If you went 2 inches off fairway, HAVE FUN LOOKING FOR YOUR BALL !!!!!!!!
Terrible course
The course was torn up beyond belief and trucks were driving on the course when we played. Overall my brother, father and I had a bad experience and do not plan on returning.
Poor Golf course
Debris from trees all over the greens making putting just about impossible. Rough is cut way too thick. Greens in poor condition patch and solid. The cart path and bridges over water hazards are badly kept and dangerous in places. Would not play this course again. I got a deal at $10 usual price is $30 would never pay that much to play here.
Needs lots of care
First time playing the course, will not go back. Stormy weather day before, greens were covered with branches, leaves and everything else you can think of. We saw a worker blowing of 1 of the greens, but that was the only one, all the rest needed to be done. Fairways were cut, but on some holes if you hit into the rough, you were not finding your ball. The holes that they did cut the rough area, our group found over 15 golf balls. The rough was so high, that even after they cut it, the cut grass was still so thick and heavy you had no chance on hitting the ball out. Greens were not in good condition. Will not be back.
People Friendly - Poor Conditions
The people working there were nice and friendly, but the conditions on the blue course were pretty poor. Think they are little behind on the maintenance for the season and there was some awful tall grass and grass clippings all over the place. Made finding the ball tough.
Not worth the money
The course was in terrible condition. The course was in terrible condition.
good solid golf
If you are looking for no frills. conveniently located golf at a good price, the blue 18 is for you...The overall course has been improved w/ the new ownership & the fast greens w/ the subtle breaks remain some of the best around. The white tees remain a good challenge at 6400+ yards & pace of play is usually very good, especially during the week. The new staff is always courteous & friendly as well.
Nice course!
Having not played the Blue Course in 10 years and hearing about the improvements, I wanted to play it. I'm glad I did. I cut through 18 holes in under 3 hours. The course really has come around in the decade since I last played there. The staff was very friendly and took good care of me. I look forward to my next round there!
Loud, slow, bad conditions
Made an 11:15 tee time for the blue course for 2 people. Got there at 5 min to 11 and tried to check in only to stand in the Pro Shop for 10 min while the guy working finished his story with another golfer. He then started telling a story to another employe before finally asking if he could help us. We paid and checked in with the starter. We find out there is an outing going out before us and we'd have to wait to tee off, for 45 min! I didn't make and 11:15 tee time to go out at 12! When we finally did tee off there was a group of about 30 people talking, yelling, carrying on. Needless to say I'm not used to that on the tee box. The rest if the round went okay but very slow. There was no concern for pace if okay or general golf etiquette. The course was in sub par condition. The bunkers were mud and the greens pitted, sandy, and generally not well kept. Save yourself the headache and play one of the areas better courses.
Good Practice
I'm a beginner and just wanted somewhere where my buddies and I could play a round without being a pain to the people behind us. It was a saturday at 1pm and we had maybe 1 person behind us early in the round. It was confusing to see many people basically just driving around the course playing what it seemed like were just random holes. It was no skin off my back. There are some holes that have a bit of difficulty but overall it was just fun.
Nice surprise
I play all over the area, but hadn't really heard about highland. Nice course with a great staff. Only two par 5s on the blue side, but I found this course difficult to score on. Great price for what you get. Will come back...
