Great long course that this late in the season is in great condition. The tee boxes look as if they were just done to start the season
This is one of my favorite courses to play as it is a challenging as it gets. The people here are great and the food/bar has great food and people in there working to make this somewhere to return to over and over again.
Nice course
In great shape, not crowded. pace of place was nice. I always enjoy playing here.
Not as nice as I expected
This is a great course for beginners and ladies. Its not too difficult or long. I was under the impression it was a upper level golf course.
very good bang for the buck!
very nice flat course with minimal elevation. Good greens and good paced round.
Play before they build more houses
It's been 10 years since I played here and, while, the course is still nice, there are a LOT more houses around than I remember.
PROS:
- friendly staff. Ladies at fee shack let go out right away even though I was 30 minutes early.
- good mix of distances
- course seemed in nice shape
- for what I payed on Golf Now it was a GREAT value
- only hole with houses on back 9 is #10. After that you play 8 holes where they don't affect you
CONS
- front 9 is overwhelmed with houses. Hole number 7 is so bad that unless you're EXTREMELY confident and straight, you're very nervous to hit anything as you approach the green.
The course is much improved from a year ago.
The course had almost closed down due to development issues. Now it's almost fully operational. It has a bar again, toilets are available but need some improvement, it has a check-in desk and a reasonable fleet of carts. The course itself is excellent with a variety of level fairways and some with moderate inclines; some reasonably level greens and some that really challenge your putting skills. Grass everywhere is outstanding.
The Hawk Flies On
It's been a few years since I was last at "The Hawk". Since then they've gotten rid of the cart cashier following you around for payment, excessive clover in the fairway and unkempt bunkers. The course on this fine day was in fair shape, well maintained, and its greens rolling smooth. For the price we paid, it was definitiely a steal. I'll be going back.
Very enjoyable round.
Staff is very friendly, greens where in great shape. Groups in front of us didn't rake bunkers.
All holes have character.
The tee boxes and the greens were in excellent shape. Fairways were good. Very nice staff. Challenging but not too hard. Very pretty setting. Great Value!
Greens and fairways are in decent shape
Greens and fairways are in decent shape - this is mainly due to consistent amounts of rain and a lack of very hot temps thus far into the summer. Sand traps are in terrible shape and need more sand - more like hard gritty dirt instead of sand that you can hit through as one would expect. The biggest concern is the complete lack of drinking water on the course anywhere - they force you to buy it or smuggle it in - yesterday was extremely hot with heat index near 100 degrees. They should have at least 4 coolers of water out for their customers as a vital service to them. If not, at least have the young cart girls bring beverages for sale out to the course to help patrons avoid dehydration and possible heat stroke. If you have to pay any more than $25 with a cart to play this course, then it is not worth it. Through golfnow, com and playing later in the day, it is an acceptable value. The holes have some interest and variation. The challenging nature of the greens are what keeps me coming back. It is often easier to chip well here than to putt well. Their difficulty of the greens is subtle and they often have challenging pin placements. They should reposition some tee boxes to freshen things up and change some launch angles and increase some of the challenge and interest on some of the par 3s and a few of the par fours as well.
Best Ever
This is the best shape this course has been in for years! Thanks to all the caring people who have gotten it there.
Excellent Course
Excellent course at a great price and two of us played 18 holes in under 3 1/2 hours on a Sunday afternoon which is great.
Friday late afternoon/evening game
I loved this course. I am a beginner and this course was just enough of a challenge without being to difficult. There were water and dog leg challenges and the area was beautiful. Will definitely go there again.
This course is constantly improving.
The course is well maintained and the staff are polite and friendly.
Worth the drive from Limerick, Pa
A very playable & open course. The staff was very friendly, the course was in great shape! Felt like we were at Ardmore with some of the pin positions. Thoroughly enjoyed the beer, delicious pork sandwich at the bar afterwords!
This course is under new ownership and it really SHOWS!
After a steady 15 yr. decline, the new ownership has brought this course back to being a great playing experience. I've always liked the uniqueness of the layout with lots of water, doglegs left and right, very challenging short par 4's, , difficult par 5s, and "reasonable" par 3s. The fairways were in great shape and the rough was "fair," i.e. not overly long or short. The bunkers have been reconditioned with good quality sand, and I was pleasantly surprised at the quickness of the greens considering it had rained the day before we played. Overall a great experience! We will be back!
Great Course, Great People, Great Price
I played here a decade ago while in college, and kind of forgot it was there. I have played 3 times this year, and the course has always been in good shape; have yet to come across a burnt out area. It is not a challenging layout, but the pin positions make up for it. The rough can get thick, but that adds to the difficulty. I would recommend this course to anyone. The price is awesome, even if you play just once. One hint, KEEP THE BALL BELOW THE PIN!
Great value
Course was in very good condition. Pace was good. Incredible value for the price
The course was interresting.
The course was in Great condition, the greens were airrated about 3 weeks ago and filling in good, but they needed to be rolled. Staff Very friendly, enjoyable golf course. Will play again.
Nice course, great staff, cant beat the value
The staff was super friendly. The course was in great shape. Even without the Hot Deal price, the greens fees are awesome. The only reason I give it 3 stars is because i cant give it 3.75 stars. Course difficulty is the only drawback. I am not saying the course is easy, it is not, especially playing the back tees. The course is nestled far enough away from civilization that you hear no traffic or other loud noises. Small community in and around the course makes you forget about the hectic real world.
