User not too friendly
Course was very muddy from recent rain with strong, gusty winds. The course, itself, wasn't bad, but no course layout, GPS, or pics at tee boxes made a challenge for first-timers.
Greens in transition
Fairways are in good condition but the greens are in transition so pretty rough and inconsistent. Overall in better shape than a lot of courses in the area.
Poor Conditions
Extremely poor conditions. Played behind a 2 some of beginners. We quit after 7 holes. Up to that point it took 2.5 hours!
Traveler
The course was average for this time of year, greens fast, traps maintained, fairways coming back to spring conditions. The starter was great on getting groups off on time. 'll be back when visiting this area again.
Really nice public shot makers course.
Lots of dog legs, right and left. Very interesting course in good shape.
Winter conditions
Tight lies in the fairways. You were better off if your drive was just off the fairway in the dormant bermuda grass.
Some greens were a bit spotty. The recent freeze might have caused some grass kill on the greens.
Rainy
It is been very rainy in Charleston. The day we played it had cleared but the course was very very wet standing water on the fairways difficult to play
excellent overall condition given cart path only conditions.
good variety of hole lay outs. Ample width to fairways. For someone handicapped and 70+, it was good to see 5 distinct tees. An over all good + golf experience. Course conditions were wet and that may account for the absence of a drink cart that day.
Great staff, challenging course. A+
Middle of winter and course looks good. Bartender nice, shop staff great, carts in great condition. Challenging for a scratch golfer, yet forgiven enough for a duffer like me. GolfNow has great hot deals and pricing for Shadowmoss which makes me play here more. Never too crowded and wonderful wild life abounds for all 18 holes.
Nice layout, fun to play.
Challenging, plenty of places to get in trouble. Very nice greens.
Pretty Course
Course does not drain well, do not play after rain
Nice fairways!
Very nice course. Greens could be cut closer, but were very consistant for putting, once you got the feel.
Beautiful landscaping surrounding the course.
Got this course for later in the day at $25. each and was allowed out earlier so we got all 18 holes in. Very welcoming staff, great layout. My wife doesn't play all that much and she loved it.
Good course. Good conditions.
I was pleasantly surprised at the condition of the course. The fairways were spectacular. The greens were very good. Some of the tee boxes were in bad shape. Not always a lot of grass. Overall, I really enjoyed the course.
The course is golfer friendly with some challenging holes.
The course is pretty well maintained, could use some work in the bunkers, has some good holes for shot placement.
Well maintained course, most of the course is lined with homes.
Friendly staff, well maintained semi private golf course. Excellent food and beverage manager!
Decent course, but pricey for its condition
Course is not as well maintained as other courses in the area, especially considering it's more expensive than those better maintained ones. Fairways need work. Range is directly adjacent to 10th tee, with no netting, which makes finding your drive absurdly annoying to find as wayward golfers have sliced dozens of range balls into the fairway/rough. With as many options as there are in Charleston, you're better off trying somewhere else.
Awful conditions
One of the worse places I've played. The fairways were not taken care of. Some of the tee boxes were just dirt. The greens weren't bad but overall I will never play there again unless someone paid for me. The cost is too much. The driving range is small and not even cut the grass.
Worst shape I've seen it in
I've played this course many times, but it's clear that Shadowmoss hasn't been looking after its course well lately. They can't be blamed for all the rain this summer, but there was standing water throughout the course 2 days after any discernible rain, bunkers full of water (and those that weren't had virtually no sand in them), and tee boxes with virtually no grass to tee off of. The driving range looked as if it had been weeks since the last time they mowed it. At the very least they could take care to drain the bunkers and reseed the tee boxes. I got a discounted rate, but I'm not sure even that discount was worth the mess we trudged through.
Good for the GolfNow price
One of the best affordable Charleston courses. I paid $25 and felt I got my money's worth. Any higher may have been pushing it. Green were in pretty good post-punch shape. Some tee boxes and fairways were a little shaggy but nothing terrible.
The course is very fair and good for all skill levels. I could see it backing up a bit on busier days, but overall a good choice to play.
