Only play if you get a reduction in green fees
Some employees were very friendly others not so much.
The course was in pretty good shape considering all the rain the area received over the last week or so. I love this course but would never play if I had to pay their regular greens fee, $70-75
A Hot Round with Two Members
Booked this the night before and was paired with two locals who were members which was great as they knew the course well. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. An enjoyable round on a hot day. Location close to downtown Charleston is a definite plus for a quick round.
Course Ranger Needs to be fired
We had 6 players today pay over $400 to play this course as we were visiting charleston for a family vacation. The course ranger (extremely grumpy old man) ruined our experience by just being flat out nasty to me and my family. He ran up on us with the worst attitude I've ever seen and instead of approching us in a friendly manner he jumped down our throats about our grouping and pace of play. We are friendly people and had no problem following his rules and directions but instead of treating us like paying customers he treated us like we were beneath him. The guy in the clubhouse made us feel like they are constantly getting complaints about this guy but apparently he is politically tied to the owners of the course and no matter how much people complain they won't fire him. Until this guy gets the axe I would steer clear of playing here. I will also say that it's not a $75 course. The last two holes are beautiful and right on the water. We loved those last two
Holes but the rest of the course is pretty boring. Not worth the money combine this with the Attitude of the course ranger I would give this place 2 stars at best. My company is actually having a company golf outing and I was here to scout the place out. I called the owner of the company and told him about our experience and this place was scratched immediately from consideration. If the owner of this course reads this I urge you to fire your grumpy old retired buddy because Today alone he cost you tens of thousands of dollars.
Patriots Point Review
Typical vacation course. Overplayed, overpriced, and undermaintained. The island/marsh hole was cool though.
Pace of play to fast
Played here many times. Reasonable value. Scenic as course has holes along marsh and harbor. Nice Staff. However Tee times are now every 10 minutes and pace of play is expected to be 4:05. For golfers playing at or close to par, this might be reasonable. For the average golfer playing bogey golf or worse this is untenable. We played our round in the expected time but felt rushed and pushed even though we let a pair of better and faster golfers through. Golf is supposed to be a game of leisure but at this pace it is anything but.
Course was in great shape. Greens and fairways were well kept.
Fun and challenging course. No beverage cart available this day on course. Clubhouse closed before we finished. Thought that was a little strange for summertime. Overall, nice experience.
Rough fairways
Patriots Point is a well laid out links course, and I have played there many times, but not recently. The fairways were extremely rough and poorly graded, for reasons unknown. Our golf cart nearly left the ground several times driving over the bumps and dips in the grass. Until that is fixed I won't be going back there to play.
Gerald Thornton
I will definitely play again, next time I'll be ready for the wind, any of my friends that might be the Charleston area give this course a try, you won't be disappointed!!
Make sure you don't have plans
Overall course conditions were good. Course is challenging but forgiving so it's fun for any type of golfer. Great scenery right on the water. Pace of play is supposed to be 4:05 but we were at 4 by hole 13, with no marshalls in sight to help encourage a better pace of play. Overall very disappointed I was not able to finish the round because I really enjoyed the actual course.
Average but unique course
As my title has indicated, is a rather unique course. The course condition is average. Green is slow and fairway were vey bumpy and patchy. But it's a fun course to play. You can see some water and city view but not spectacular as some reviewers have indicated. My guess is every one's standard is different.
Post 5 inches of rain
Despite 5 inches of rain the previous day, the course still played decently. This is a long course and it is pretty much wide open. The holes are parallel to each other back-and-forth without many obstacles. The back 9 are more challenging and much prettier holes. I would play again. Great course to practice long fairway shots.
Nice views
Fun course. Nice course, friendly staff. Very busy
Wonderfull greens
Injoyed playing this place wonderful place to play golf.
Conveniently located close to Charleston. Laid back atmosphere. A number of holes beautifully situated on the ocean. Generous course design - broad fairways and forgiving roughs.
