The Gauntlet Golf Club
About
The Gauntlet is situated along the banks of the lake that is the centerpiece of Curtis Memorial Park. When it first opened in 1995, Golf Digest recognized it as one of the "top ten new courses to play in the U.S." This challenging layout will definitely test your shot making abilities. The golf course begins with a tough front nine that has several sharp doglegs over water and tall grasses. There are also a slew of blind shots. The back nine is a bit gentler since there's less water and it is more open and forgiving, but the large, multi-tiered greens can be tricky. The fourth hole is the golf course's signature. Your tee shot will have to carry a marsh to a narrow landing area on this par 5. After that, you'll be faced with a triple-tiered green with the lake to the left and bunkers to the right.

I hate COVID
Front half of course little slow with extra bodies around who are not at work. Otherwise very enjoyable day. Fairways and greens in good shape.
Bepper
Overcast skies and damp fairways from light morning rain gave way to light course play. I teamed up with another single golfer and had a great time. The clouds cleared some as we played and had a very comfortable and fast round. We both had a couple of birdies each and shot reasonably okay.
Gauntlet
First time playing Gauntlet. The people made a wonderful first impression. The young woman at check in could not have been nicer. She may have been an owner since her dad was rounding up carts. Seemed like she was genuinely happy we were there... refreshing since most golf employees are cranky old men or entitled brats. The course wasn’t in the best condition but will give a pass for early season. The greens were too long & slow but I believe they are doing maintenance. We only played the first 9 holes in the afternoon & weren’t waiting on anyone or had anyone behind us so felt like we had the place to ourselves which was enjoyable. The new bunkers are fantastic. The layout was challenging & interesting. Again it wasn’t pristine but couldn’t ask for more at $25 for 9 holes in the afternoon. It’s a very peaceful setting with no houses & especially enjoyed all the holes by the lake. Had a drink on the patio overlooking the course after. The bartender was equally friendly. We didn’t have any food but enjoyed the scenery. My only complaint was the driving range. It was mostly dirt & half the balls should be thrown out & I don’t think the machine gave me as many balls as I paid for. I will definitely go back based solely on how wonderfully we were treated. And next time hope the course is in a little better shape.
good quality
some of course was under construction, but other than that it was a good day.
I like the Gauntlet
First of all, I like the challenge of this course. It reflect the strengths and flaws of my game. The staff is very friendly. I like that you have a knowledgeable starter managing the flow of golfers. I enjoy playing here. Please improve the grass at the range. I appreciate that you have a follow up system that seeks feedback.
Fun and Challenging
Not a beginners course because you definiely need good drives. Lots of up, down terrain and sloping greens. You definitely find a challenge here. Has a couple of water holes or large hazards. Best to know the course layout 'cause there are blind shots (can't see the ball or the fairway). Good value! You get your money's worth of fun golf.
Dormant but fun
Dormant but still this golf course was a lot of fun to play, it’s got a great layout, challenging, and we had a windy day. I look forward to playing this course again when the grass comes in.
Greens are alittle out of shape right now but kind of expected
First time playing Gauntlet
The course was quite challenging for a bogey golfer. Everyone was wonderful. Food was great too.
Love It As Always
Great place to play golf. Good challenging course while not overly long
Evaluation
I have truly enjoyed the course the last 15 years. In has gotten better each year. What it needs is better drainage of a few holes.(2/7/11/13).
The course itself was in good condition I will be back for the course. As for my experience with the bar staff, I came in expecting Debra but she wasn’t working I got a very friendly elderly lady and a very rude red head lady. I think her name was Raychul? She was very rude she was very self centered and unprofessional. She was in a hoodie and jeans. That isn’t appropriate attire. She also had fake nails with polish on the. Very rude and very disrespectful to the older golfer group.
I will not be back around the bar/restaurant unless Debra is going to be working. Someone I can actually have a conversation with instead of being insulted by someone who considers themselves a manager?
Seems to me like the “management group” has very bad taste in people to make a manager.
The elderly lady was very very nice. I did like her better than the younger red haired girl. She at least had a brain and manners.
Good course, decent shape
Overall, a challenging but player friendly course. The front nine is in immaculate condition, greens were fast for the winter and fairways, although yellowed were not burnt out or overly soggy. The greens on the back nine were hit or miss with two in just terrible conditions (not a smoothie surface to be seen). The back nine has a few more elevation challenges than the front nine. Overall, a great course, good price, and ‘good’ condition for winter/off-season play.
This course has great layout
The Gauntlet’s layout is great - lot’s of doglegs with elevation changes. It really challenges all level of golfers. Now, it’s in the best condition I’ve seen it in many, many years. Tee boxes, fairways and greens are all in great shape. Most of the bunkers have been reconditioned with powdery white sand. It was a real pleasure to play The Gauntlet. I’ll be back, even though it’s a long drive for me. I highly recommend it!
Course is looking great, the work on the bunkers and greens is paying off.
