Old style muni course
The course is typical municipal course. I remember some of the layouts. The rough is not treated right, then it leads to average golfers make slow pace round. The green was reasonable shape considering the weekend price, though more maintenance shall be needed for fairways. The last hole is island green.OK for practice round.
Picked a bad day to play
We had heavy rain during the week and on Sat the course was really wet. Cart path only slowed things down, especially with the wide fairways. I haven't played there in years and the conditions were better than I expected. Same old beat clubhouse though. Go when it's been dry for a week or so.
Great value Much better than some reviews seen
Was pleasantly surprised by this course, which offered the chance to hit at a very reasonable price, and not take all day (on a Saturday) to play. In fact, the round was complete with foursomes ahead of us in under 3 1/2 hours. Par 3's were long, and I wouldn't say there were any "cheap" holes to play. The fairways were rough in some spots, but that was a minor issue for me, particularly considering the price for the round. The staff seemed friendly, and the cafeteria offering were better than my club I belong to. Definitely coming back to play here.
like an old muni, so don't overpay
westpark reminds me of the old muni's i played as a kid, courses in fair shape, indifferent staff, but cheap to play. so if ya need to get in a cheap round to stay loose and you can get a deal here it is worth the drive, but just down the road is goose creek, in better shape and friendlier staff.
Nice Layout
I have played Westpark several times over the years. It is never in great shape, but the greens are in good shape and it is a nice layout. Plus for $17 for 18 holes with cart through Golfnow it was a great deal.
Good value
I played this course on a Sunday afternoon, so play was somewhat slower that I am used to, but still within a 4 1/2 hours.
You must be able to put the ball in the fairway. On most holes there is little room for mistake left or right. For end of March, the course was in excellent condition. The greens are in great shape and fair : not too slow not too fast, just right.
The course is located in the middle of a housing development, but still offers lots of trees and trouble. Will play this course again when I am in the area.
Late Season Bargain
It had been more than 10 yrs since the last time I played at Westpark. My overall assessment is that it's not bad for the Golfnow rate but you'll find better conditions elsewhere. I continue to wonder how this course stays open with the old Westpark Hotel closed but I guess they have a loyal local following. The good news is that my partner and I made it around in only a little over 3.5 hours with essentially no one in front of us. We were OK with the value for the money but I wouldn't go out of my way to play here at full rate.
Great Value
The course was in surprisingly good condition for this time of the year. The rate of play was fantastic especially because I watched about 5 groups go off in front of me, I thought I was in for a 6 hour round, but it turned into a 4 hour round (VERY RARE for this area). The course layout is one of my favorites (not too challenging but interesting).
My only complaint is the staff (and lack of staff). They could certainly be a lot nicer.
This course is well maintained.
This course has some of the nicest and most well maintained greens of any local course. It is pretty open but still presents challenges with a meandering creek, ponds, and well maintained bunkers. While located in the heart of Leesburg, it has a country feel that is both woodsy and very quiet. Be sure to play here if you are in the area-it is a great value for the money.
Price was reasonable.......
I been here couple time coz I live in Leesburg,When the first time I played 18 holes in Westpark Golf Club, such a nice golf course here.....environment was excellent. The people who work here was giving a great service....!The only little comment was some holes has to be maintain more,to improve that.I will be back on next season.
Wonderful experience, Great Location and Great Course
People super nice, course good/great but not immaculate, perfect for the regular golfer, not for the guy used to paying $100 unless in a pinch for value and quality. Marshall doing his job; dogs, burgers, soda, beer, bathrooms in the clubhouse. Super easy on off from the highway and local roads. Thanks, I'll be back over and over.
Nice layout, but fairways really need work
First time playing the course, cart is included in green fee, very long course if you walked. Greens were nice and good condition, but tee boxes were like cement, and the most of the fairways, were really patchy. Good value if you don't mind the fairway conditions.
Fun Course
Fun Course, greens were nice, Sand traps were okay. 18th hole is Tricky, 130 years right over a pond. All in all fun play!!
You get what you pay for
Rolling fairways of crabgrass with many bare spots. More grass in the bunkers than on the fairways. The course has some nice design features. It could be a good venue if management put some money back into it.
This course was not bad.
The course was pretty good. Some of the fairways were a bit rough, but overall the course was playable and maintained. They asked for 42 dollars, even though the golfnow reservation I made was 37. Not sure why, but be cautious with that.
What happened?
I played here on Memorial Day of this year and the place looked perfect, all the fairways were green and the greens were even better. Not so much this past weekend there was more hard pan dirt than green on the fairways. The greens were still really nice except I guess people have forgotten or don't care to repair their marks or divots come on people make it better for all of us. Last thing... I got a 330 teetime online but called and asked to see if there could get us in early he said no way we are booked solid you might even get pushed back. When we got there come to found out that they had been on first come first serve times for half the day. Once we got started early which was cool it took us 5 hours just to play 13 holes!!!!!! Bad day all together
Ok course, but fairways in bad shape
The layout at Westpark is good and it's normally a great value. However, it's been a season or two since I've played there and the fairways were bad. I'm not sure if it was due to some disease or just bad maintenance, but almost as may bare spots as green in the fairways. So, you have to roll the ball to get a good fairway lie, but still an ok course for the money.
