Red/White at Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort
About
Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort is home to three different nines: the Red, the White, and the Blue. They are played in three 18-hole combinations that each offer a different set of challenges. All of the courses share a verdant landscape covered with trees provided by its unique location on an island in the middle of the Delaware River. Across the water, the Poconos Mountains serve as a stunning backdrop. The Red/White Course sprawls across a flat landscape, crisscrossing a few times along the way. Strategically placed bunkers and thick cuts of rough come into play throughout. In addition to the three golf courses, Shawnee Inn also boasts extensive practice facilities that include a driving range and a nine-hole, par-3 course that offers great practice with holes of varying lengths.

This course has good
This course is beautiful
We play and we take lots of pictures too
Great value
You cannot ask for anything more when you golf at Shawnee -- balmy weather, fall colors and helpful staff at a super price.
Avoid
It is great if you like greens slower than a 70's shag carpet, five hour rounds, crab grass rough, and course that is beat up from overplay.
This a great course especially if you can get a good rate.
Play here a lot, can be a little pricey during peak season but they always seem to have deals, especially in the spring and fall. Traditional golf course with just enough trees and water to make it fun and challenging. The Red/Blue are really nice, White is a little funky, three PAR 3's, 5's, and 4's.
Course condition
Course was great! Staff was friendly and helpful. Only problem was because of their crossovers we got pushed to their other 9 instead of what I booked. It wasn't maintained as well as the original 18 and the greens needed to be cut and rolled. Otherwise a very pleasant experience
Great golf course
The Shawnee golf course was a blast. I cannot wait to go back there again. The course is very fair and challenging and was in great condition. We also ate lunch at the restaurant there and the food was very good. Every member of the staff we dealt with were very helpful and courteous. I highly encourage anyone to take a buddies trip to Shawnee, I just wish I lived a little closer so I could go there more often.
Old School, Original A. W. Tillinghast design
Worth the 1 hr drive. I just love playing the 3 nines at Shawnee. Ok it is a little tight with some tee boxes next to each other, but this place takes you back in time..It is truly a classic place to play.. with 24 holes on the island in the middle of the Delaware River it is so peaceful in the early AM. The only problem is since it is a resort course and you have 3 nines. We got stuck behind 2 older couples on the back nine that were 3 groups ahead of us. They were loud and slow..The Ranger had to speak to them twice to quiet down and pick up the pace.. Have played there close to a dozen times and by far that was the slowest back nine i have had.. But it won't deter me from returning.. Just don't eat at the restaurant in the Hotel..Slow and definitely not worth the higher price..
It's a great course
Playing 27 holes (Blue, Red and White) gives you a variety of each hole strategically set. A golf course is well maintained and the staff is very friendly. Great golf course.
Great rate through GolfNow!
We were able to get in only 9 holes due to heavy rains. The staff was extremely helpful in checking the radar and satellite images to help us make our decision whether to start our back nine.
As mentioned we only played nine, but were given a voucher to play nine more holes at a later date of our choice during this season.
Course is in Great Shape
I love the layout of the course. Blue is my favorite 9, But the other 2 are also challenging.
Nice well groomed open course.
Most of the course is located on an island within the Delaware River. Course is well groomed with generally open fairways. The rough is thick making shots tricky. Have a half way house with snacks, drinks and bathrooms that's accessible every 4-5 holes. Played this course twice a year for some 5 years now, always a great round.
Easy Pocono Getaway
This Tilinghast gem is a quick trip for anyone traveling out Rt. 80 and worth a visit if you enjoy classic tree lined North East golf.
Despite getting rain early in the morning, the course was in fantastic shape and drained reasonably well for a course located on an island in the Delaware River.
Regardless of which 18 (of the 27) holes you play, this course is always a fair test and well worth the money.
Great Last minute choice. Nice course for the dollars.
Looking for a deal within 30 mins of home, booked last minute. Staff had my info and was ready for me when we arrived. FIrst time there, gave plenty of instruction on how to get around (actually started on the back or Blue 9 which is in the middle of the property). Got around in 3.5 hours, was in nice shape. Really enjoyed it.
nice course in good cond.
golf now got me a great price. the only thing was the cart had no water in club cleaner or sand in the containers. stater should watch before sending you off.
This course is nice but could be even better!
Overall course is in nice shape. I have been playing here once per year for over 30 years and have see all the ups & downs. It is definitely on the upside now but w a few add-on could be even better. Played ona very hot day yesterday and found almost no water to drink on the course (at one spot the cooler was filled w only ice so no water came out). Sand traps are much better than in past but ones close to river-wooded area are filled w leaves and debris plus are UN-raked! Several traps did not even have a rake!! Other than that we enjoyed our round a lot.
great course
staff is great at this course. coursed set up good and conditions always great. love the whole facility.
The course has a traditional feel. Challenging holes
I like the the 3 nines here. They all are well maintained but each is is different.
Faded glory
Lots of history at the Shawnee. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The setting is gorgeous. Unfortunately the golf course needs attention. The tees are beaten up and there are a lot of dead patches in the rough. The greens were pretty shaggy. The layout was fairly unmemorable for a Mackenzie layout, except for the par 3 7th hole on the blue which is a beautiful shot through trees over the delaware river to a large green.
One of the better kept courses in the area
I've always found Shawnee to be in pretty good condition compared to other courses around the area and this time was no exception. I wouldn't say the course is in pristine condition as the rough played a little higher than it should have, but certainly no problem areas on this course and the greens were very nice as always. My one complaint was about the pace of play - but it was Father's Day and that had more to do with the inexperienced golfers than the course itself.
the course had great scenery. It would have got a pristine condition rating but it had rained the night before the course however played very well
we played blue to red and the course played extremely well after It had been soaked by rain the night before. The scenery was awesome. I only wish I had shot better.
