Timberlane Golf & Recreation
About
When Timberlane Golf & Recreation opened in 1959 as Timerlane Country Club, it was the first private golf club on the west bank of the Mississippi. The oaks planted at that time have beautifully matured, adding to both the scenery and difficulty of the golf course. Robert Trent Jones, Sr. designed the course, crafting a challenging test that has been ranked as one of the most difficult golf courses in the country. You'll have to contend with 80 strategically placed sand bunkers and 17 different water hazards. While the course is not overly punishing, you'll have to be prepared to have every aspect of your game tested. Before tackling Timberlane''s golf course you may find it helpful to warm up using the club's all-grass driving range and you can use the large putting green to practice with putting, chipping, and sand play.

18th green! Sticking it close! Photo submitted by dahnguyen on 10/27/2015
We did NOT play. Golf now booked a tee time at a golf course that was closed. Timberlane Golf Club was closed for the July 4th holiday and we were unable to play. Golf Now would not acknowledge the golf course was closed even though the Timberlane website stated it was closed for the holiday and no one answered the phone at the golf course.
This is not the first time GolfNow has accepted tee times at a location that was closed or was not aware that Golf Now was booking tee times.

Awesome Pricing for this course
I have played multiple courses in Nola, and this course might possibly be the best bang for your buck in that area. Was very impressed by the condition of the course for what I paid. The greens weren’t great,, and they were repairing two of them, but overall, very pleased. I would say something about the pace of play being slow, but I was by myself and I’m sure it’s not the same guys out there everyday.
Trash . Go play Lakewood
The girl at the front counter needs to improve her attitude. The greens are garbage , the fairways are long and they let s group of 5 seniors out who don't let people play though. This place is a joke.
Bad time to raise the green fee.
I’ve played this course multiple times for the price $23-$35. The greens were really nice. In fact we stop playing a course not too far from here because the greens were terrible We had to pay today at $45 the greens were atrocious.
Greens and sand traps aren't ideal
Staff was friendly. But it is a course probably on its way out. Lay out is cool. But greens do have sandtraps and the actual sandtraps weren't sand.
Good Value
Played on Memorial Day, no starter so tee time was out the window. Fivesomes going off in front of us. Went out as a single when the rest of my group joined with another group to make another fivesome. Played in a little less than four hours after several groups let me play through.
The layout of the course is old school. The condition is middle of the road. Greens need help. Bunkers are shabby.
Timberlane
Beautiful course with all the old oak trees. Plenty of hazards. Greens a little rough due to recent aeration.
Great Greens
I played here a few years ago. The new greens are great, Good course that can play very long, Thank goodness for up tees. Course in very good shape . Will definitely play again. I don’t think you can find better greens anywhere.
good for the buck
Fairways need some works. It’s only spring and the fairways is already hard. I can’t imagine when summer comes how much harder it gets
The Greens
Man they have really gotten their greens together (WOW)
Good for the money
Good bargain, but pace of play was slow. No one out on the course to speed up play.
Great value for the money
I am certainly not a "regular" or even a "decent" golfer (happy if I break 120), so I have not been to many courses. But what a nice course this is! My friend and I got there about 40 minutes early, and although the chip/putt area was closed, we still were able to loosen up and get to the first tee early. I will admit I am not the fastest player, especially because I have no distance on my shots (yet), but the people behind us were patient (thanks guys!). This is February, so I wouldn't expect the grass to be in great condition. But I was surprised with the quality of the holes (especially the greens!), and had no problems at all with the condition of the course...especially the front nine. The back nine is long, so I know people behind us must have been a bit frustrated. My apologies for that. Also, the trees and the weather have torn up the cart path in a few places, and maybe those areas could be re-paved. Thanks for having an available and (mostly) clean bathroom on the back nine. Overall, I am looking forward to retuning to Timberlane. Thank you!
Greens and water hazards
The greens were in great shape. The water hazards could be marked more clearly, especially as to how far out they extend.
