Really needs work
CV Muni will never be confused with Torrey Pines, but my gosh it is really in bad shape. Greens are OK, some even pretty good, but the fairways and tee boxes are terrible. Cart paths are washed out with pot holes and mud on almost every hole. No idea why, no heavy rain lately. Half of the ball washers have no water and that's just a symptom of neglect. With a "hot deal" you can play for $20, but even that is not a good deal. Sorry to be so brutal, but this well layed out course deserves better.
More bare spots than grass
Please fix this course. It could be enjoyable to play, but, it's frustrating to about always be on hardpacked dirt.
Miserable condition
The course is in miserable conditions. Most fairways are lacking grass. A tee box on the back 9 was patchy grass. Also pace of play was frustrating, 3 hours to finish the front 9. At one there was a group on the tee box, 3 groups waiting and one chipping on the green behind us
DO NOT PLAY HERE
This is the worst golf course I have ever played at. The greens are slow and your ball bounces like it’s in a pinball machine when you putt. 4 of the fairways are mostly dirt and or mud. Tee boxes are terribly uneven and the pace of play was 3 hours for nine holes. If you rent a cart strap in because it’s a ROUGH ride due no cart paths besides in between tee boxes and greens and the hundreds of holes in the fairways and in the “rough”. Do not waste your money here.
Goat track alert
No aerification alert, but charging full price. I would avoid. Fairways are looking pretty bad. Greens are punched. This is the place everyone comes to get hammered. Expect a 5+ hour round.
Budget course but slow play
This course is a budget course. The course was about what you pay for. The tee boxes, fairways and bunkers were a little rough but the greens rolled true. I played at 9:30 on a Sunday and it was a 5:30 hr round. I think for the pace of play you can find a better course for the same rate.
No Marshalls telling people to pick up the pace or even a cart girl to make the time go by faster.
Overall it was fine. The budget makes it worth it but if you aren’t in the first couple of groups I would find another place.
Course flooded / closed till further notice
On01/26/2023 I booked a round at CVGC for 12:02 for $23. GN took the reservation and greens fee.(greens fee charged). But the course was closed due flooding and I never got to play. How do I recover the gem. Fees?
The Good & the Bad
We had gotten a good deal on the round through golf now,had that not been the case. The three stars for value, would've been lower.. When we walked up for our 11:46 tee time and saw the beverage cart driving around,we passed on purchasing drinks at the 19th hole.We were later disappointed to never see the beverage cart later on the course.
On to the course, the 1st hole fairway was being punched by a tractor, not a good sign, as all the fairways were pretty rough. The bright spot were the greens, which were in great condition. The sand bunkers were nice and soft,as I found myself in seven of them. The pace of play, was fine.
If they can bring back the fairways to good condition,we will happily come back
Course review
The clubhouse & grounds crew were friendly and helpful.
We never saw the beverage cart operating during our 11:45 - 3:15pm round
The fairways were in pretty poor condition, however the sand traps and greens were in very good condition.
Fortunately the weather was nice outside, otherwise with no inside 19th hole,we would've had to spend out money on drinks and snacks elsewhere.
NEVER AGAIN!!!!
6 hours to get through a round. Forget this course!!!!
The worst round I have ever played
The title says it all. 6+ hours to finish a round. This is the worst course in San Diego County. It took us 40 min to get through the first 2 holes because they stacked too many tee times. It was so bad, plus they don’t have a Marshall that comes around at all to tell groups to speed up. I will never play here again, even if it’s free.
The golf cart are suppose to be replaced October/November, much needed! Hole #3 is a muddy mess, but always has been! The course is in its best shape in months with what the have to work with. It’s in a river bottom and takes a beating when we get measurable rain. Overall, better than it’s been in a long time! Continue to improve. Staff is always great🤩
