Dolphin Head Golf Course

The only bad thing I can say is that I wish this course had been open to the public sooner. Wow! Immaculate conditions with fast greens, albeit a bit sandy. Wildlife aplenty. I will be back for sure.

I really enjoyed this course, especially for the GolfNow rate of $35! Greens were smooth and fast. Fairways were thick and weed free. Fair course with some generous landing areas. The course was packed and pace was slow. We waited on every shot on the back nine.

They had aerated/sanded all the greens the day before, so I didn't putt out any of the holes, once I hit the green I picked up. Fortunately, and to their credit, the adjusted the fee accordingly. Dolphin Head is a solid course and one of our favorites on the island. I hope to avoid the aeration schedule on our next visit.

Played this course for the first time ,was in great shape ,staff was very friendly.Greens were great ,rolled smooth and were very fast ,try to stay below the hole I was above the hole all day,down hill and very quick. Over all I would definitely play again and would recommend to friends.

Liked the layout and greens were in great condition. Will come back again..

Arrived 45 minutes before tee time, no buggies available at bag drop, till after booked tee time had passed, bag drop staff blamed pro shop, pro shop blamed, bag drop, starter said it happens all the time, other players with later tee times given buggies and sent out in front of us, ranger on course non existent, after 2nd hole, waited on every tee 5 - 10 minutes and on every second shot, for 16 holes. Amazed to keep head together to shoot under net par round, but won’t be returning to this course on our annual trip to Hilton Head, they could surely learn a lesson or two from their sister course Bear Creek.

One of my favorite courses on Hilton Head Island. The course layout is great and lots of fun. The greens were very nice (quick, smooth and fair. They ran true and had very few un-repaired ball marks). The greens have lots of humps, ridges and undulations. The staff on the other hand were rude and acted as if they were doing you a favor to let you play. The old guy in the pro shop acted as if he didn't want us there.
The practice facilities are very average. You can not hit your driver on the range because you can not hit any clubs over 225 yards.
If you can tolerate the unfriendly, rude staff, the course is great and lots of fun.

First time playing Dolphin Head. Very nice layout and very nice condtions. After playing Old South, I was equally impressed. The greens again were true and a little faster. They weren’t out of control, but extemely puttable (is that a word?). Never had a reason to stop in the restaurant/bar area, but the staff I came upon were very friendly and efficient. I would recommend this course if you are coming to the area.

Enjoyed everything about this course.... Staff...condition....value....layout.... Can't wait to play there again!!

Enjoyed the condition as well as the layout of the course. Can't wait to play again! Many of the courses have not been in very good shape..

Great course with good facilities. Pace was a bit slow today. But has been better in other visits

I arrived 30 min before my tee time. I wanted to loosen up before playing. I was looking forward to playing with someone else since I was a single. After checking in I head to the driving range with my $8.00 bag of range balls. As soon as I pull up the Starter calls my name and suggests I play with the threesome on the tee. I dropped my Head because I just paid for and wanted to loosen up. He said go ahead I will send them off. After hitting balls I go to the tee 5 min early and he says I have no one to put you with. I said I was to play with a twosome and he said he sent them off two groups ago without me because I wasn’t there yet. But I got there 30 min early! So I ended up playing alone waiting every shot.
The course was in great shape. The greens were firm and the putts rolled true. I love the layout and I will return the next time I have others with me but will not return as a single.

We played just after 3 p.m. and had booked our fees through an on-line site. The man behind the counter waived that off and gave us the twilight rate, cutting our green fees by $20 apiece. A layout that emphasizes accuracy off the tee with some good green complexes. Good course to get your first round in at Hilton Head if you haven't played in a while. 15-18 is a strong, fun finish.

Friendly staff, clear instructions from the starter helped to make our round enjoyable. The course is in excellent condition, very challenging, but fun. Greens were fast, fast. Lots of wildlife! We will be back.

Monday morning round, so not many people to contend with. Paired with another single and we got around in about 3.5 hours. The staff I encountered were very friendly and helpful. Range was just Ok, as you may only hit clubs up to 225yds. Greens and fairways in great shape but still “filling in” for the season. Most tee boxes needed some help and TLC. Overall, a good experience, but a little steep on the rate.

Favorite course of our trip! All 8 guys said this was their favorite course. Layout was awesome course and greens were very nice. The staff on the other hand were rude and acted as if they were doing you a favor. It started at the guard shack at the entrance to the community. The guy there was rude and very proud of the power he wields. There are no signs to help guide you were to go. Then you get to course and the kid in the pro shop was not friendly at all. This club used to be private and act like they don't want you there. The practice facilities are very average.

Great course and layout. Plenty of challenge. Best greens we played in HHI.

The course was in very good shape. The ranger was extremely rude... Anytime he drove up to our carts, he did nothing but complain about pace of play and scolded us... There was a group in front of us that were about one full hole out but they had golfers frequently picking up... The group behind us never waited on us... When we finally asked him how many minutes we were behind.. He "analyzed"all his papers and finally said 2 minutes... So the three times we encountered him he never gave us a how do you do or anything, just whined and complained... He needs to realize when he acts like this most people respond the opposite way...a very unhappy dude!
