Flying L Guest Ranch Golf Course
About
The majestic, rolling hills and towering oaks of the scenic Texas Hill Country serve as a backdrop to the Flying L Guest Ranch Golf Course & Resort. The course begins with a challenging front nine with numerous doglegs and uneven lies at every turn. The signature hole, the par-3 seventh, features a green that is surrounded by water on three sides and a spectacular view of the mountains. Flying L Guest Ranch Golf Course & Resort's back nine is less challenging than the front nine, but it has a few interesting surprises in store. It has a more classic and open layout than the front nine, but there are four holes with water and several strategically placed bunkers to watch out for. Flying L also features a two-tiered driving range with a chipping and putting green.

Peaceful - Cloudy day
Awesome course and worth the drive, arrived 30mins early & allowed to tee off.
Very decent
Course is in good shape. Very decently designed track for a "real estate" layout. Not crowded and pace of play good. Toughness is kind of deceiving ... not really difficult, but the bogeys can add up in a hurry.
Wide open fairways
The course is in great condition. Fairways and greens were both well kept. Not very many obstacles on the course, or around the greens. Very open terrain, you won't loose many balls, if any.
Course was fantastic
Wife and I played 18 holes was great saw lots of deer on course and was a great round of golf this course is worth getting to thanks guys you have a great course
Flying L
Course was in great shape compared to other courses that are dried out.
Great Course
This course is in great condition and not too crowded which allows you to enjoy a great round of golf. It is worth the drive from San Antonio, I will be back.
okay
Been playing the course for years and enjoy trying to go and shoot my lowest round every summer. Not many choices out here, but the course has always been well kept. It does tend to get a little burned out in the dog days of summer, but greens have always been good.
Always in good shape!
Very consistent and always a good experience. The facilities are always clean, the staff is always helpful and friendly and the course is usually in great shape considering the severity of the South Texas summers!
A bargain
A few challenging holes, area had a lot of rain, the usually fast greens were a bit slow. Still a nice course.
Hill Country fun
Played in a little over 3 hrs. Always enjoy the pace at Flyihg L. Greens were lightly sanded but had been notified earlier. Pro shop guys always friendly unlike other area courses and they get you off the tee promptly.
Can't see why it was highly rated.
What was not disclosed online when I booked was they just punched the back nine and the front nine was closed so "play the punched back nine twice". Also it was Cart Path only! I saw a lot of weeds and other grasses in the "Fairways" I am not a great golfer but for a 15 handicap to shoot 42, 41 for the 2 nines with 2 3 putts per side tells me it had to be a very easy course. Not many Bunkers, not much water. Best thing was I shot 83 and finished 18 holes in 2 hours and 5 minutes.
coures is looking good
i play here on a regularly always a new challenge. enjoy it everytime
Entirely satisfactory...
Entirely satisfactory round of golf. Reasonable green fees and above average friendly staff. Drawbacks: no course Marshall to regulate pace of play. Also, keep it in the fairway or risk gouging your irons on the many rocks just under the turf surface.
Awesome Coarse
The only complaint I have is when you book it on Golfnow. You might want to call in to make sure there are no scrambles or tournament 's starting at the time you tee off. 1st time I played, normal pace, great game. Next time, we were put in behind a 6 person scramble, with 2 people playing it was slow play all the way. And there were more 4 some's ahead of them. Terrible day. Bad game.
Hidden gem
Highly recommend!
Third time to Flying L...and we'll be back!
Fun course
Always enjoy playing here. Would like to see a Marshall at times but never just log jammed. Greens are a little behind other area courses but hopefully recent rains will help get it caught up. Good course.
Enjoyed playing this course.
The course and facilities are wonderful it's a pleasure going out there. The employees are doing a good job from course maintenance to the pro shop.
Great vacation
My family and I had a wonderful vacation at the flying L. The course was in good condition. The green were fast but in excellent shape. It was a great course for the whole family!!!!
Over rated
I played the course based on its ratings. I was a bit surprised it received such high ratings. Fairways were shoddy at best, and some of the holes were poorly laid out. The couple redeeming qualities was the location/scenery and the greens were decent, when there wasn't too much crab grass affecting the roll.
