Pinon Hills Golf Course
Our Favorite course in the Four Corners. Friendly staff, good rates and challenging course. Play about 20 times per year.
Best Golf Value...in the country
Pinon Hills is a fantastic golf course and is very challenging but at the price, I think it's the best golf value in the country. Come play!
Excellent day of Golf
The course was not crowded and we played a sub 4 hour round. Greens rolled great and the fairways were in good condition
Remarkable!
A beautiful course with acceptable challenges even for a high handicapper. Playing uphill on some holes a bit of a an ordeal but downhill very rewarding. Greens are immaculate as are the fairways. The staff was the friendliest I have ever met! Don't forget to eat at the grill. The cook is awesome! A++++
Awesome desert gem
This course is in great shape for summer time in a high desert region. Greens rolled great. Fairways are narrow on some holes but the turf is in great shape for your iron shots. We played Blue tees and loved it. The tips would allow for driver from the box, anything less than blue and you don't want to use the big stick on most holes. Very fun course and and views are awesome. I would r comm me to anyone in the 4 corners regions to give it a try.
Rained Out
First off - what else can be said about this course? It truly is a fantastic layout. I'm out of state but played on a crazy hot deal. Although I love the course I wouldn't play it for $60.
Review of course...
1) not a fan that the bunkers are hardened sand. Not sure the sand is wet when raked and dries up and gets crunchy. Not use to playing out of that so thought processes are racing trying to figure the bounce, trajectory, etc out of it.
2) what makes this course awesome is not just the layout but the opportunities to make it more challenging. Many courses lengthen it with tee boxes lined up straight back. PH tee grounds are off set in different locations on most holes so you get a different look and approach to your tee shot. So play a round from the whites then the next from the blues and you'll see. Also at elevation you are getting 10% or so added distance on clubs so even the tips make this 6500-6700 yd sea level yardage so play a round from the back as well.
3) where the true challenge comes on PH are the greens. When you find a straight/flat 10 footer...post the picture.
4) Light drizzle started on 10, picking up by 11th tee left tee shots in fwy and headed to clubhouse...and waited a LONG time. This wasn't typical summer t-storm that came through. It was spotty after a good 45m dumping, so finished 11...dumped, sat in cart on 12 for 20 minutes....lightened up, tee off 12...dumping by time I got to the green...stick a fork in me I'm done. Was last one out of the parking lot so my Washington state golf in rain attitude kept me there longer than the locals. They are better meteorologists than I am I guess.
Zack in clubhouse is good to talk to. He will help you out around the course getting where you need to be and commiserate about the stupid GHIN system if you engage him.
Already made another tee time for this week...hoping to finish a round this time.
My first round without the wind
This course is beautiful, we'll taken care of, very fair.....but when the New Mexico wind blows....it can be brutal. I've played it 6 times. The warm up facilities are great....the pro shop staff are great....the course is Awesome....but you add that wind.....OMG....You better have your A game....my favorite course within at least a hundred miles....
Worth the Drive
I first heard about this course 25 years ago.So on my way back from a recent trip I made a detour and it was worth it...
P.S. Only my opinion but if I go again, I'll leave the Driver in the car
Good course
This is a good track, a must play if your in the area. Course was in good shape and the greens were great. The staff was super nice and helpful and let me go off early. I would definitely play here again if I'm ever in Farmington again.
Pinon Hills Golf Course, Farmington NM
Pinon Hills is the areas best choice for price and enjoyment of playing golf. Great experience every time we go. Extremely friendly staff and course is in fine shape. Will play near 25 rounds of golf this year at Pinon.
Nice Course - great rate
Great course and can't beat the hot deal rate. The course is in pretty good shape but the cart paths need some attention.
Have played this course before. My wife and I always enjoy it. Nicely maintaned and price is so reasonable.
Remote NW New Mexico Treasure
Glad we took the time to travel to this jewel of a course. Have read about it for years, and it was well worth the effort to get there. Elevation changes, ravines to carry, some water and creeks. Played in back to back days, wind major factor first day, but still had fun.
Looking for an excuse to return.
Price difference
When making the reservation through Golfnow, the price mentioned was $37.00. But when checking in, I was charged $45.50. I mentioned about the $37 price when booking and he said that was in error.
Worth it.
Course was a little sunburned in a few fairways but still played well. Challenging greens. Would definitely play again.
Great course
Friendly staff and the course was in good shape! Pace of play was a bit slow, but overall a great experience. I was paired with others whom had played the course previously and it was a big help to hear before hand where the trouble locations for each hole were!
