Los Serranos..big bang 4 the buck

Played the South on 6/1/18...from tee to green the course was in great shape , not mention it only cost $45 @8:30am. POP was right at 4hrs. The Marshall was on it but not irritating. U can never go wrong at LS. The course can be challenging playing from the blues because it's long, the greens aren't difficult but they're huge so if u don't stick it close 3 putts are a given.....highly recommend....

What you come to expect at Los Serrano’s

Course is typically in good shape and my recent round was no exception. Fairways did have a few patches that weren’t to standard and could’ve used some paint to allow you to take a free drop. Other than that the greens were good and rolled true, who ever set the pins must have had a bad night cause they were tough to get too lol. Always what I expect for this place, love it and easily one of not the best course in the are.

Great test of golf

A very stiff test of golf. Although, the North Course in my opinion is the better layout, the South has its share of fun holes and is a good test of golf as well. My first time playing the South was a great experience. Lucky for me, I did not get to play the front nine into the wind prevalent around Los Serranos in the afternoon. The winds came later for me on the back nine and it aided most holes on the back nine. Favorite holes on the South were definitely number 7, 13, 16, 17, 18. Maybe the best three-hole stretch to end a golf course I have ever played. Would definitely go back and play.

No Aeration Warning

This is my second time playing Los Serranos South in the past 60 days. The first time was on my birthday for free (tip there if you're paying attention) and that day everything about the place was great except for one complaint I'll repeat below.

!. I could and would have played a course much closer to home if I had wanted to play on aerated greens. That course had the courtesy to have a warning posted so I chose to make the drive to Los Serranos instead. Unfortunately, both the greens and the majority of the fairways are being aerated and the greens are heavily sanded.

Many of the tee boxes were aerated as well and some were hard and a bit sparse grass-wise in addition to being uneven.

2. The yardage markers in the fairways are discolored and since it's a hilly course it's sometimes hard to tell how far out you are and if you don't see one of the discs in the fairway fugeddabowdit. There are no yardages on sprinkler heads, no upright stakes, no marker trees nothing.

If management wants to improve the pace of play (which wasn't bad but it was Wednesday) invest in some paint, and the lines on the cart paths are faded or non-existent as well. Would it kill you to jam 3 painted 4x4s into the ground on each hole? That's the repeat complaint.

3. There' are no water fountains on the course which is fine except that you're tormented over and over by coming up on 'Fresh Water' stations that have nothing in them. I learned that the hard way last trip and was prepared this time. It wasn't a repeat complaint because I should have had water with me. But I hate being teased.

I really like the course, it takes me back to my teens when I played several tournaments here. It's a challenging track when the wind comes up and if the management would just put some care into it they could win another award instead of having to trumpet the one from 2012.

Worst round in years!

Pace of play was ridiculous. Waiting for every single shot from the first hole. Played behind a 5some that couldn’t get off the tee and took 10-15mins on every green alone. Course should have closed down the tee sheet, it was way too crowded. Tee time was 12:15, teed off at 12:45 and finished the round at 6:15 in the dark. Crazy

Overbooked

Delayed to get the carts and teeoff for more than 30 minutes, Couldn't finish the 18 hole in 5 and half hours. Had to wait on tee boxes and fairways in every hole.
