Post renovation condition
I have played this course since the late 90's, and am not a huge fan of some of the renovations made. However, the course is currently in the best condition I have seen it since renovations were "completed" late last year. It was hot yesterday, and yet the course did not play hard and dry. If you miss fairways on a regular basis, you may have some issues hitting off of hard pan decomposed granite on some holes. The greens were in good shape, and if anything, were over watered. I hit my approach shot on #18 with a 9 iron and the ball plugged on the green (instead of rolling back towards the hole on a down slope). For me, the biggest disappointment is the bunkers. JC Golf has resources and should spend a little on some decent bunker sand. I got into two bunkers over 18 holes, so not a huge deal. And I got of each okay, but its like hitting out of the hard pan decomposed granite I mentioned earlier. Overall though, I was pleasantly surprised at the overall condition of the course. It is target golf for the most part and need to hit a club off the tee that you are confident will keep you in the fairway. As with most all of the JC facilities around town, the greens were in good to very good shape. Have fun!
Disappointing to say the least
It would appear as though the owners of this property are not concerned whatsoever with putting money back into the course. The golf course has been cut down to the point where there is no rough lining the fairways. Additionally, there is no sand in the bunkers. I play to a pretty low handicap and will offer this: hit a ball 2-5 yards off line... you probably won't find it. The run off from the fairways here (hard pan dirt) lends toward you ball rolling an additional 50 yards, possibly into someone's yard, and being lost. The bunkers do not qualify as bunkers, they are hard pan dirt. There is no evident sign of actual "golf course" sand being placed in them. The only saving grace about CMRGC is the greens were an 8 out of 10 condition.... although that didn't matter much considering a ball hit a few yards offline is probably lost. Lastly, I was eaten alive by mosquitoes in the swampy parts of the course... bring the "OFF".
Missed the mark!
Interesting day. Our T-time was delayed from 3 pm to 3:18. As 3:30 approached we expressed our frustration to the starter. He relayed our issue to the pro. The pro explained that they had issues with an earlier tournament and assured us he would make it right, and boy did he! He took us in the club and bought us a round of drinks, refunded our money, gave us certificates for 2 free future rounds each (4-some), and made arrangements for a free round with another local course so we were able to get a round in that afternoon! Over the top customer service! Highly recommend this course!
Good Golf Course
Good course, not excellent, but good. Lots of blind shots...course knowledge would have been very helpful.
Played on Easter Sunday, so no "extras" available. Restaurant was closed due to special event. Course is a bit rough, but green were super.
Difficult course for women... my girlfriend had issues!
Great Course
I have played Carmel Mountain a half dozen times. The staff is always friendly and the course it well maintained. I look forward to playing again.
The Starter!!!
Checked in about 50 minutes prior to reserved 9:27am tee time as a single. Pro Shop said I was grouped with a three-some and I had no problem with this. Met starter who let two four-some & a three-some go ahead and then I was paired with another single. the two of us finally tee'd off at 10:00am. Because of this starter, we waited on every hole about 10 to 15 minutes before teeing off.
aerification
There was no notice provided from golfnow, or this course about aerification.I looked again today and there is still nothing posted about aerification. This in my opinion is bad business. And because of this style of business i will not play at this course again.
Course good parking lot bad
Parking lot sits right off fairway and ball came smashing through my back window of my brand new SUV. -not great.
Perfektne, nadherne ihrisko
Krasna prirodna sceneria, clenitost, krasny zazitok a nadherny den s golfom
Worthwhile experience.
great rate due to punched & sanded greens. greens rolled fairly quick and true even with the current conditions. course has held up well considering the heavy rains recently in So. Cal. Fairways in great shape; no really bare areas encountered. course is maturing well since the redesign in the past year or so. still a challenging layout that makes you think twice before hitting driver on every hole; definitely you'll use every club in your bag.
Interesting layout
The course was in okay shape considering the recent deluge of rain but many of the pin placements made the greens unfair. My biggest complaint was the lack of drinking water available on the course!
Over-rated
The layout/routing can best be described as bizarre. The course conditions varied ... poor on the front and marginally better on the back. Most greens were nearly impossible to putt given the speed and undulations. Have zero interest in returning and would not recommend to others ... there are better options.
The course was a lot of fun to play. The pace was a little slow, but that was alright, it was a beautiful day out. However, there were so many employees driving around on carts and watching my group. I didn't pay $44 to be baby sat. It was pretty annoying. Other than that, it was a solid 5 out of 7.
Great value. Course in great shape
I've played it here a lot over the years. Less than $50 in the morning, it's great value. Course is in great shape.
Slow , slow, slow
It took 5 and 1/2 hours to play 18. No marshals, no control, no management.
