Lakewood Golf Club
About
Lakewood Golf Club is one of the South's premier golf destinations. Opened in 1961, the course has hosted the New Orleans Open 26 times over the years. Beautiful cypress and oak trees frame the golf course, providing a beautiful backdrop throughout the round. When Ron Garl renovated the course in 2009 he managed to obtain its original character while modernizing the layout with new fairways, tee boxes, and greens. Strategically placed bunkers and fairway contouring were also added. Lakewood Golf Club is owned by the New Orleans Firefighters Pension Fund and as a tribute to New Orleans Firefighters, the final hole was redesigned and renamed "Fire in the Hole." Called so because the traps are arranged in a set of flames against a backdrop of red sand. You won't find anything like the bunkering on this par 4.

Course has awesome greens
Course was in great shape even with a heavy rain the night before and a little rain that morining. Greens are always rolling fast and true. The course a well maintained cousre. I've play there several times a year. One of my favorites around the New Orleans area.
Course was in really good shape
Great price, good facilities, nice layout, nice place to play golf with friends
Nap
Very high quality and a great experience . Very friendly and helpful staff.
Nice Course in New Orleans
Nice people, Fairway pretty wide, fast green. A little expensive for the overall experience if you don't use Golfnow. Rentals are NIKE in good shape but not clean? Also ... NO balls sleeve with Rentals ( a first for me). A place to stop-by!
Great local course
Very nice course. It's nice to play a course where you can distinguish greens from fairways and rough.
Great test of golf ok practice facility
Great place to work on your short game but not many targets outside of 110 yards on the practice range. Course was set up great. Rough was cut fairly short so not to penal fairways were well maintained and greens were in great shape. Putts stayed on line and had consistent speed. More than enough staff for a wed afternoon round and pace of play was never and issue even with a back up on te first tee
Fantastic course for the money
While the gentleman behind the counter in the club house was extremely rude, the rest of the staff was overly pleasant. The course was in fantastic shape. This was my first visit and I will return again. The course offered the right amount of fun with the right amount of challenge; it really hit well on a "difficulty to enjoyment" scale.
Nice track off the beaten path
Nice public track in the NOLA area. Lakewood is in fine shape, greens are at a good speed. First timers better get a yardage book at the pro shop, alot of little ponds that come into play off the tee. Cart girl was not cordial at all. We didn't see her on the back nine at all and she keep my credit card. Once our round was done I had to go back and find her to get my card back. Unacceptable.
Great course
The course has been in good shape each time I've played it so no complaints from me whatsoever.
a great value and a very good course
the staff is very friendly. there is avery good practice range, that has all you need to work on your game. the course is in very good shape. i would play it again.
The artwork (wood sculptures from dead trees) adds to the course landscape.
The putting greens were in the process of reseeding, which made putting a challenge. I do appreciate the course superintendent's effort to maintain keep the course in great shape. The fairways are in excellent shape. I think this one of the better courses I have played near New Orleans.
Wonderful open layout, nice greens.
This course is worth a look and an excellent value for the money. Water comes into play on many of the holes. Distance from the tips is a good challenge. Greens fee includes cart and range balls. Look forward to playing here again.
The course has been redesigned and is great layout.
The only disappointment we had was all of the greens on the entire course were just aerated and sanded. I would not have played that course if they had told us that on the front end.
The course was in great shape.
if not for the lightning alert we would have finished a little earlier than 4 1/2 hours
Top value for money
Played thanks to GolfNow for under $40. Tees, fairways & greens all in great condition. Course wasn't very busy. Great value for money on such a nice course
Definitely worth the drive
I've been wanting to play this course for some time now, hearing several good things about it. Finally I got the opportunity to do so, and I'm glad I did. First of all, the course was in excellent condition, and nice and dry after a terrible downpour the night before. Fairways in some places were a little solid, but could still get a nice shot from it. Greens rolled nicely, traps were raked and in great condition. A few holes presented a challenge, such as the 17th island green.Marshall was very nice, welcoming, and a pleasure to deal with unlike at other courses I've played. I'll play again for sure.
Enjoyed this course, in great condition!!!
Took a vacation day to play round of golf with my brother who had came into town. Booked at Lakewood Country Club, and my brother told me I couldn't have picked a better place to play a round of golf here in the New Orleans area. We both enjoyed our day on a great manicured course!!!
Course is in great shape beutiful fairways and greens.
One of the finest coures in the greater New Orleans area and has to be on every golfers to play list !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fun Course - Great Staff!
I played this course twice and found it to be a great time. I played it from the member tees the first time and wasn't really challenged so I played it from the tips (I normally do not play the tips anywhere) and found it to be a little more fun.
The staff was extremely welcoming and the course was wide open so other than hearing "Fore!" a few times a good time was had by all because you can really let loose with your drives and not worry about where it lands.
