The golf course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club is a beautifully designed layout set against a desert landscape with rock formations, mesquite trees, and cacti. Pete and Perry Dye designed the course, combining both beauty and challenge. This championship course was built on rolling terrain and has large, sharply contoured greens and extensive mounding that is reinforced with railroad ties. There are not only deep sand bunkers but also grass bunkers protecting the greens. There are also four ponds on the course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club, but only three create water hazards that come into play on four holes. A notable hole on the course in which water comes into play is the sixth, a hole that has a peninsula green with water surrounding it along three sides.

Red Mountain Ranch

Overall a good course. Course conditions good. Pete Dye course with very extreme green complexes. Expect a lot of three putts. Otherwise a fun course. Played with another twosome who we were paired up with. Both were super friendly, one is a member and they helped us navigate the direction off the tee as there were a lot of doglegs. Only complaint of this course was pace of play was a bit slow 4 hours 49 minutes. But, for the price , Red Mountain Ranch is a good value and I’d not hesitate to return and play it again.

Challengeing course

This course is not for beginners. It has many challenging greens and a fair amount of bunkers. Many of the greens a raised which will make it difficult for beginners. If you’re looking for a challenging course this is a must play course.

good challenge

course was in good shape except for the greens which were slow and fuzzy. Too bad that they are not cutting and rolling to get the speed up.

Nice Dye Course / Friendly Staff

We played this course with a 2pm tee time and pace of play was excellent! Played in under 3 1/2 hours.

Typical Pete Dye course with deep bunkers, greens with false fronts, as well as turtle back greens, and lots of railroad ties. Fun & interesting round.

Only saw the beverage cart once in 18 holes - on the back nine and she was leaving for the day.

Most enjoyable

Nice layout although not difficult but in great shape and some interesting holes!
Enjoyed my round but was far too slow which was annoying and spoilt the occasion slightly.
Staff were super friendly.
Only downside was that they charge $10 for range balls which I think is unnecessary.

Meh...

In my opinion, not worth the drive from Phoenix/Scottsdale unless--and only unless it's a "Hot Deal" or "Deal Time." Fairways and greens were nice but waste areas were unkempt and ugly. Range was in terrible shape. Guy in pro shop was a minimalist on conversation(his prerogative I guess) and while I did take the outside ops guy up on his offer to clean my clubs(a service I always appreciate as I am happy to spread the tip money around and like clean clubs), but he was socially awkward.

Very hilly course

This is an excellent golf course. It’s just to hilly for me to play and enjoy myself.

That’s the only reason I wouldn’t recommend it.

Cool but Dated

Dye course has too much superfluous mounding .
Rotting railroad ties really date the course.
It’s different so it’s fun .
There is a lot of cleaning up to do just off the fairway and into the scrubby rough / desert.
Looks like it’s been years since any attention to detail .
I think the design of the last par 5 (17th)
green is ridiculous and contrived.

Everything about the course is excellent. The only negative was the golf carts were absolutely filthy!

Could’ve been better

Played here on a Saturday and surprisingly not too busy, possibly a sign. I’ve never left a review on golf now but this warrants it. Course condition was ok but several holes with tons of dirt and not well kept areas of the fairway. But the biggest issue was greens that seemed like concrete and very slow and then fast in places. The ball has no relief when chipping on because of how hard they are. There were several greens with giant lines in them seemed like someone messed up and just did nothing to fix it. On the back nine one of the pars three had a giant crane in the middle of it so we had to go up and play from the reds so we didn’t pelt the crane or operators. And then on the 18th we waited 10+ minutes for a random wedding party taking pictures on the fairway. The clubhouse was closed we received no help getting them to move. And it was 30 minutes before sunset. I would maybe play here again but definitely not for the price we payed or the current conditions.

Fun Day at Redmountain

Red Mountain is a challenging course. Most bunkers were well maintained. The greens were fast but well groomed. Many of the greens were elevated so you had to drop your shot on the front to keep it in play. Staff was friendly and helpful. The price like all courses has risen. Unfortunately for that reason I likely will not play very often. Overall, the course was challenging and fun to play.

Love most of the course

Pace of play is excellent. They aren't booking tee times on top of each other. This is a fun course. Challenging. A couple of goofy holes on the back 9 but over all very nice. I'd play it again.

Reasonable value, even at high seasonal price

Course was in reasonably good condition, and allowing us to drive carts in fairways was very helpful and appreciated. On-course marshal was a bit pushy & rude. Understand the desire to maintain reasonable pace of play, but his desire to "keep everyone under 4 hours" isn't as important as the players' enjoyment of the round they paid to play.
