Kino Springs Golf Course

Kino Springs could easily become a four or even five star course with a further infusion of capital. Beginning with much better signage around the clubhouse and on the course, a new fleet of golf carts with GPS, new cart paths, a revised scorecard that would indicate the direction of the next tee once you reach the green.

Admittedly, these are far more important for the first time visitor, and of little importance apparently to the regular. There is no disputing the superior value, so I suppose it’s a trade off. You definitely get what you pay for though.

Ok, some of the fairways were not very food so just roll the ball to some grass. And pay attention to the tips on the scorecard as there are a few holes where max distance off the tee is a bad idea. Somewhat surprisingly, the greens were pretty nice but had severe humps and ridges.

Since playing 45 days ago, the course is improving. Tee boxes and fairways are showing improvement in conditions, yet better than before. Greens are reasonably good, roll well, and somewhat speedy. Just wish players would repair ball marks on greens. Hopefully maintenance efforts will continue to upgrade course conditions.

I actually played this course over 30 years ago....remembered a few of the canyon holes.
The course just reopened 12/20 so there are still some rough spots but we played "winter rules" and enjoyed the layout. Some of the holes ie canyon are quite challenging but it evened out with the others. We loved the greens! Soft , even and consistent.
We considered this an adventure ...just north of the border, rustic, old school carts....and great staff. We were not disappointed.

Don’t expect a country club but overlook the age and roughness of the carts and paths and you can’t help but appreciate that this course still exists! Greens were outstanding and the traps better than most in this area. Best by far are seven holes with character that are hidden in the mountains. Am looking forward to playing them again now that the first time has passed. They twist and turn, rise up and fall down, have some forced and blind carries and have risk/reward choices that make every shot one to be contemplated vs just taking out the ‘right’ club for the distance.

Greens were true but somewhat dormant. Fairway grasses were patchy so the rye over-seeding could have been more uniform. The course has a nice layout with some challenging holes. Pace of play was great at just over 3 hours with a foursome, so that made the round enjoyable The gas golf carts were aging with no gps so bring yours for distancing..

Such a beautiful setting, glad to see it open again. Greens are in good condition, very smooth, a little slower than usual as they get them back up and running. As might be expected the fairways and tees are still a bit rough but the grounds crew is evident and the course shows promise of improvement.

Greens are a little slow but are in great condition. Fairways and tees need a lot of work - and it looks like they are trying to bring this course back after a near two year shutdown. We couldn't get on the canyon nine today because they we're laying down fertilizer. Disappointing since this is the real heart of this golf course

It was great to be back - this is a great track. We will book again in a few months when some of the work that needs to get done gets done.

Course has been closed for 15-16 months and recently reopened. Tee boxes, fairways, and grass around greens needs much improvement and direct maintenance. Greens were mostly in good shape. Will replay in a few months to see if course maintenance has improved. When the course is in good shape, it is one of the best to play with many challenges especially holes 5 thru 13.

This is not a course for the pampered golfer but it's a great playing course overall. The greens were smooth! I couldn't find an imperfection on any of them. They held well and the ball rolled true. You have to know where to place your tee shots on many of the middle holes as there is a ravine you need to hit along or over on many of them.
Yes, the carts are aged and the paths are horrendous ,and there are many hardpan areas but if you keep it in the middle you won't be disappointed.

I have played this course over the last twenty plus years, the layout hasn’t changed, but it needs water and maintenance. Still a fun course to play. The pace of play can slow if it’s the first time playing the layout can be confusing. Needs more direction signs, ie proshop, restrooms, etc.

Greens were the only thing that was acceptable for play. The fairways were in bad shape. The ladies bathroom on the course was not usable. The staff were amiable.
