Fantastic Value
This golf course is an amazing value. The tee times booked through Golf Now typically include a cart which is much appreciated. The cost is gorgeous and kept in pristine condition and the staff is helpful and friendly. The only complaint I would pose is the sink cart which only came around one in the course of our 18 holes. The food (especially the burgers) was fantastic. I would recommend this course to any golfer.
Expensive and only in fair condition
First my error...we were driving and didn't book through Golf Now...big mistake as we would have saved 35-45%...next time even book using your smartphone. At full price, way too expensive for the course conditions. We played on a Sunday but the grass hadn't been cut in at least 3-4 days. Mixed height grasses around the greens gave terrible bounce, greens were rough and rolled poorly. And every hole was mounded when it was drilled. Tons of mature clover on most fairways made it hard to find your ball amongst all the white flowers. Most tee boxes were chopped up. Just not what you expect for $90 per person. Suggestion... go elsewhere as there are lots of nicer courses at these prices. And yes, book through Golf Now and save (wish I did this time).
Nice Experience
I've played the courses at Rancho Canada many times and always enjoy the rounds I play there. Pace of play for yesterday's round was decent although I've seen lengthy back-ups due to the six-minute spacings on tee-times which is a joke . The course conditions were good considering California's drought struggles. On some fairways you've got to fight of fallen leaves -regardless of time of year- as well as clover. Staff friendliness is usually great but average yesterday. The food and beverage prices are decent but yesterday the beverage cart girl was out of sandwiches by 1PM and the snack shop at the turn had but one ham sandwich left. Improvements needed are in relation to service as food and beverage availability.
Older course
Price good. Get a cart with new battery. Played west side. Like many holes but some were gimmick holes. Too narrow with big trees in way. Lots of tree debris on course. Good for the price about 1/2 the cost of other courses.
Great Course, Saw Cows - Needs Breakfast Burrito
This course is great. My partner and I played 18 holes in three hours. There were Cows on the back 9 who talked a lot in my back swing
Only complaint is they don't make breakfast M-F. They advertise $8.00 for Breakfast Burrito and Coffee. My partner and I worked up an appetite for that combo deal but were disappointed when we were told they only have packaged snacks for breakfast.
nd couple
Course was very nice for the golfnow price. We are not used to greens fees.
Very enjoy able
Needs some regular maintenance
Like the course but needs some clean up. The lack of weed prevention, white flowered, and accumulation of leaves makes it difficult to locate balls. We lost balls just off the fairways that should have been easily found!
Nice course
we have recently played both the East and West courses here. I found the East course to be a little more difficult. Beware of the large black birds, as they will take food right from your cart. They stole my golf partners banana.
Great walking course !
Not only do you get 18 holes to golf but you get a great work out when you carry on this varying terrain!
Great value
A deal at any price. Will not be disappointed. Bring some extra balls.
Golfing experience
Too many leafs on the ground so spent most of our time trying to find our balls even though we hit in the middle of the fairway.
Should be more signs to guide golfers. Can be very confusing at times.
Too few bathrooms.
Rancho Canada East Course
Loved the course overall- but I realize we just had some storms so drainage wasn't that good. Some of the greens were completely puddled, a lot of debris when you get off the fairway so it was difficult to find your ball.
No scorecards at the starter box or in the carts, and no starter, so it was pretty much play on your own. We made our own card for the first 9, and wound up getting one on 10. Pace of play was good, price is worth it from Golf Now, but definitely not worth it to the general public, which was $79 plus $19 for a cart, which is way too high.
Wet
It had rained most of the week, but course could have been better. Lots of water on fairways . Any ball in sand was lost.
Course was in excellent condition
Despite all the rain over the past few days the course was very playable and in excellent condition. The staff was very friendly and well organized. I left a club on the course and didn't discover that until a week later. The pro shop located it and shipped it back to me the next day. We have played both courses a number of times while visiting Carmel and always enjoy our round. For the money, Rancho Canada is a real bargain.
Great par fours
I really enjoy Rancho West, it helped me become a true golfer during the mid 1990s. The long (for me) par-fours taught me to hit it straight off the Tee. All par-threes are old style 150 yard holes. The fun fourteenth has a straight tee shot then the second shot is across the Carmel River. We walked in less than four hours. I have reconstructed knees so I like to walk Rancho because, except for the finishing holes on both sides, the course is pretty flat.
Back 9 starter needed
I like playing this course....but they need to schedule those playing a twilight 9 hole rate better. After 9 holes the pace was very slow partially due to the 4 some in front of us and maybe they had not much space in front of them. But from the 10 th hole on it was an absolute crawl. We went straight to the 10 th hole and we were 3 groups deep because they let in 2 others (apparently playing only the back 9). In went from bad to worse and we were in the dark by the 16th hole. Not enjoyable. Please schedule better, guys.
The Best
The best pro shop staff of any golf course i have played.
Nice walking course
I'm from Lake Tahoe,to play in November and be that nice with great conditions, even if you did not have a great time playing good or bad.find a new sport. Thanks golf now for great times and fees.
Ok if you get the GolfNow price
If I paid full price of $70 for this course I would be very disappointed. Almost all greens are bumpy and do not provide any consistencies. Also during my game a groundsmen watches me approach a ball that I was about to chip onto the green, he proceeded to continue watering the green until a puddle appeared wich was directly in my line to the pin. During many tee offs groundsmen would continue to use the large leaf blower and other machines without pause, I know other golfers had the same experience. As I said for the $22 I would come back as I liked the layout of the course as it provides different challenges but I would never pay full price.
