Fantastic course
It is a shame this course is being replaced with more housing and commercial real estate. We are glad to have had the opportunity to play it while we still can. The staff was fantastic and we were paired up with Jon who we enjoyed golfing with.
Challenging layout, good condition. Play before it closes for good
Grande Pines has always been one of my favorite layouts to play in Orlando. The holes are very unique and greens always well guarded by slopes and bunkers. The condition of the course when we played today was great, greens rolled perfect.
Staff has always been friendly every time I visit. I am sad to hear about the course closing. Employee's told me the course will probably close around spring time next year to make way for single family homes.
I highly recommend playing this course before it closes for good.
Great Course
Booked as a single but was paired up with a couple of great Golfers. The course was in excellent condition and we played at a great pace.
Beautiful c]ourse,great condition
Sadly we were rained out after 4 holes. Will try again when I can return to Orlando area
A favorite!
Always play Grande Pines when visiting Florida....it is just a great golf course!
It is a shame
Closing this course is a sin. Layout and condition is great and great to play
Fun round in Orlando
Narrow fairways, elevated greens ,great condition ,helpful staff but slow play were all happening on May Day 2014.
Course is challenging but fair from all tees
Course was in great shape for the amount of play it receives. My wife and I played and were paired with two other players from the area. Course is a challenge from any of the tees but is fair as long as you pay attention to the suggestions on the carts GPS unit. ( Driver not always the proper club). Would highly recommend to all my friends.
Great Course Poorly Managed
The golf course was fantastic greens were perfect. There was no parking had to park off site, my tee time went off late because they ran out of carts, the staff didn't care about service. At 4PM on a hot day all the water coolers were empty and did not get filled, but they were happy to sell me a five dollar bottle of water. The details is the difference the course gets a vote of not going back. They need to either lower the rate or step up the service to meet the price of admission.
Fantastic course for the money
For anyone looking to play a round in Orlando, you cannot go wrong with any of the Marriott managed courses. Grand Pines is my favorite of them, with quick access to sea world, universal, and just around the corner from Disney. I recommend the club sandwich at the clubhouse. Jeffrey and the rest of the staff are fantastic. The only drawback, is need a few more carts. We had to wait until our tee time to get the cart.
grande pines
I have played this course many times and have occasionally had issues with slow play, this round took almost 5 hours, watching the group in front of us tee off on every shot. When asked by the bag guy at the end of the round how it went, I told him the pace of play was horrible and there was no ranger. His excuse was short staffed and setting up for a tourny the next day.
Nice Resort Course, depends what you pay to golf here.
Very nice course, I was able to obtain a $60 rate, which made it quite a good deal. If I would have been paying full rack rate, not nearly as good of a deal. It was in good shape, very well taken care of, nice facilities, and the staff was friendly and helpful. I would golf here again.
This course will be missed
Just what Orlando needs more timeshare resorts. Great course play it before its gone.
Putt-Putt Greens
I was really looking forward to playing Grande Pines for some time, but came away feeling a bit let down. The overall design is nice and certainly challenging, while the condition of the greens and fairways were above average for this time of year. However the tee boxes were in poor condition and many of the greens create unfair putting opportunities. One such green created a situation where leaving a putt six inches short resulted in the ball rolling 15 feet back down a hill. I expect that at Congo River-not at a championship golf course. The place is nice and the staff inviting, but your money is better squandered at many other courses in the area.
good tourist course
Glad it was a Golf Now Comp or I would have been really disapointed. @ $100 a round I expect much more then what it was. Greens were riddled with ball marks, traps unkeeped and the pace was very slow.
Grande Pines - not worth the cost
Slow play and no rangers moving players along resulted in a less than pleasant 6 Hr round that should have anyone ready to walk off the course. Except who wants to throw away the money. Call ahead and see if they have any large groups playing before booking this course!!!
Tough course if you don't place your ball
Need to play more than once you have to place your shots
Terrible Pace
It took almost 3 hours to complete nine holes. We were forced to wait on every shot. This pace ruined an otherwise excellent golf course. My threesome teed off about 1545 and we were unable to finish before dark because of slow play of those in front. As we returned to the club house we observed 2 fivesomes that seemed to be the main hold up. The course had rangers but they were not doing anything about the slow play. I would not return to this course without some assurances the rangers would address slow play and disallow fivesomes. The rangers should follow the rules for slow play clearly stated on the back of the scorecard.
