About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 09/2019.
Nestled at the base of Mount Diablo, Deer Ridge Golf Club wanders through rolling, oak-dappled hills. The course has several challenging holes but the hazards are balanced by more player-friendly elements like wide, forgiving fairways and generous greens. There is also plenty of room off the tees and at just over 6,300 yards it is a manageable length as well. Though it is gentle enough for beginners, the thoughtful routing and hilly terrain keep it interesting for low handicappers. Deer Ridge Golf Club's front nine is more open and slightly less difficult, but the back nine gets a little trickier with more trees and more dramatic elevation changes coming into play. The terrain gives each hole a unique character and different challenges. The wind can also be a major factor. Good course management will be well rewarded.

Great Course
I like this course the best in the Brentwood area. Good layout and challenging, but fair.
Shocking pace of play
Shocking pace of play. First 3 holes in 1 hr, front 9 in 3hrs. They sent someone out but all he did was drive past everyone and ignored the issue.
The issue being drunk idiots playing multiple shots a hole, putts on the green and all round slow play.
This is always an issue here, no one is ever speeding up play.
Nice Course
Deer Ridge is in good shape right now but starting to get soggy in some spots.
Conditions were great yesterday when it s briefly a short-sleeve weather.
Up to Par
Right up to par with the other course in this area.
Norman
Nov 11 golf.
I was over an hour late for my tee time due to an accident that closed down the road that I was on, for 2 hours.
I called the pro shop about 30 minutes before my tee time to let them know that I’d be really late. The pro shop staff was sympathetic and entirely accommodating.
As soon as I arrived, they set me up and got me right out on the course.
An entirely enjoyable round and other than for 1 rough fairway (# 10, I think), the fairways and greens were in excellent condition.
The only thing that I’d say was in need of work would be the bunkers- somewhat light on sand.
Like this course
Played here three times this year. Greens and fairways always in good shape, watered and mowed. Sand traps need more sand. #16 hole is pretty, but the left side trap has tall grass??
Sliding downhill
I have been playing this course for 12-14 years and the last year the course has not improved. Yes, there is sand in the bunkers but some fairways - notably #10 - are awful! The greens are good. The announced consolidation with Shadow Lakes to one 18-hole track could be good but with no on course cart service, and who knows what the practice facility will be - or not... hard to get excited about going here.
course is ok but no marshal to enforce speed of play
it was very very slow couldnot play more than6 holes
since there was a big group of high school kids ahead of us -many of them very beginners . had to forego the hot deal --and quit after few holes
A perfect Brentwood Golf Day
Great value, friendly staff and surprisingly really well groomed greens! It was a perfect October Golf day in Northern California, no wind, lazy sun and mid day golf with a well spaced flight of players. I had a great time, shot a respectable 86 from the blues (please, there are no mulligans in golf, nor do-overs for missed putts). I even kept the language down despite blatant robberies that cost me more than my share of three putts. Did I say that the greens were in really good shape? They were and legitimately challenging.
Course in great shape
I’ve played this course for 10 years and it’s in the best condition I’ve seen it
Need Improvement
Dear Ridge has always been a nice course, it has been longtime since I played last week, I was little disappointed there was no yardage sign at any all tee box, also only few holes have ball washer another thing is the 150yard marker are not noticeable.
with some of the course around Brentwood are closing
I feel Dear Ridge need to improve so it can attract all the customer around the area.
Poor conditions
Not only was the round extremely slow (5:45), but the conditions were not good. The greens hadn't been cut and were extremely slow.
Brentwood golf
This is the worst shape I've ever seen this course. Fairways are long and the same for the greens. Hole 10 hasn't seen a mower in about a week. No fairway just rough. Very sad to see. Might not play this course ever again.
Just OK due to Sand
They should inform players that they have sanded the greens. Most courses do that. Also, some courses offer additional discount when the greens have been sanded. Otherwise, I always enjoy playing Deer Ridge. I will miss the back nine when they combine with Shadow Lakes. Also, some of the "regulars" are a little pushy about hitting into forward groups. We finished in 4 hrs so we were moving along.
Buyer Beware !!!!
Booked a nice priced "hot deal" on Golf Now, but very disappointed to arrive and find 18 holes of sanded greens ! ( No aerification notice provided !)
The greens were unplayable.
Shame ! Shame ! Shame !
Greens were very nice and true, Course excellent.
And terrific staff and I enjoyed my round.
Overall, I'd recommend the course
