Cally Palace Hotel
About
The Cally Palace Hotel features a private golf course that is carved from the scenic parkland that surrounds the hotel. The course closely follows the natural contours of the landscape and utilizes the towering trees that dot the terrain. Golfers playing the course will have the opportunity to behold panoramic views of Cardoness Castle, Rutherford’s Monument, and the Fleet Estuary. In addition to the spectacular scenery, the layout offers a challenge for all skill levels with hidden burns and water hazards throughout provided by the Cally Lake. The Cally Palace Hotel also offers a practice area and putting green for golfers to use. Conveniently since the golf course has no members or competitions, it is rarely ever crowded.

Good game!
Beautiful location, and we were lucky to have a glorious summer day! The course was in good condition and not over crowded. Staff were very welcoming and prepared for our arrival.
Beautiful course in stunning parkland.
Not the easiest course to play but one you will enjoy playing again and again. Just have plenty of balls in your bag.
Tough but beautiful course
A wide range of holes and terrain awaits you at Cally Palace. Really good greens too. Amazingly beautiful if you like trees !
Back at Cally !
Always love playing this course, feel like you can always score fairly well but the par 5s are very challenging .
Par 4s all reachable in 2 and par 3s also not overly long.
Course very playable if slightly wet in a couple of places and greens still very decent for time of yr.
Love it !
Lovely Tuesday afternoon
Really enjoyed our round and weather conditions kind. Course layout is lovely, not too long or hilly. Only complaint is greenkeepers had cut grass on fairways when wet and left clumps everywhere.
Such a shame
Beautiful parkland course.
Played course this time after a dry 6 days. Just a couple of soft areas and slight water damage on a couple of greens. Course in great condition and greens nice and fast. Really enjoy this course when in this condition.
Great course let down by lack of maintenance
Iv played this course several times in the last 2 years and unfortunately it seems to be deteriorating more and more every time I play which is a huge shame because the layout and scenery around the course is excellent
Beware of par fives and the third.
Some heavy rain day before but only 3 and 4 boggy..The second par 5 should be abolished under the Geneva convention as this time I increased my score at it to 11. I hope I did nt hit a red squirrel with my errant drive. Fairway narrows to twenty yards and there are a few other holes with rather narrow fairways when you think they would want to encourage custom with an easier course. Good chance of hitting a tree on the 18 th but guess the squirrels will have learnt not to live there.
STAY AND PLAY
Played two rounds around a dbb deal at the hotel. The weather prior to our visit was very wet and therefore the couse was pretty heavy with a few drainage issues on some fairways and few greens. Fortunately the weather came good for the two days of our stay which allowed us to take in and admire the natural and built heritage of the Cally Estate..The course is set in mature woodland and has many picturesque and testing holes. The par 5's in particular were long and challenging. There are also a few water features and narrow fairways so make sure you throw a couple of extra balls in the bag, just in case! . Over all we enjoyed our golf but thought that the greens could do with a bit of investment and the fairways could have been closer cut, however we fully recognise recent wet conditions not to mention the operational challenges brought about by Covid.
All in we enjoyed the hotel and the course and we thought both represented good value for money. We will return!
GREAT COURSE WELL WORTH THE MONEY
I HAD THE PLEASURE OF STAYING AT THE CALLY PALACE FOR A FEW DAYS AND THOUGHT I WOULD GET A ROUND OF GOLF IN WHILST STAYING THERE.
I WAS TOLD IT WAS 35.00 TO PLAY IN THE MORNING AND 25.00 TO PLAY IN THE AFTERNOON, BUT ON DOING SOME RESEARCH, I MANAGED TO GET A DEAL ONLINE FOR 19.00.
THE GOLF COURSE IS LOVELY, SOME EASY HOLES, SOME CHALLENGING HOLES(13TH PAR 5 IN PARTICULAR) BUT A LOVELY GOLF COURSE WITH LOVELY VIEWS OF THE SURROUNDING HILLSIDE
IT WAS A LITTLE MUDDY IN PLACES
I WALKED IT WITH THE GOLF BAG ON MY SHOULDER, BUT WOULD ADVISE TAKING YOUR GOLF TROLLEY OR HIRING ONE OR A BUGGY FROM THE HOTEL.
I CERTAINLY ENJOYED A WELL DESERVED PINT IN THE BAR AREA, FOOD IS EXCELLENT AND VERY GOOD PRICE
Nice course
Thoroughly enjoyed the game. Course on great condition.
Great Course, Fair condition
A well laid lout course that would have been excellent if not for the greens that were just cut too long. But a beautiful setting and a very enjoyable course to play. Some easy short par 4's and very long par 5's
Beautiful layout
This golf course meanders through mature woodland in landscaped grounds of a once country estate.
Make sure you are on top of your game, especially off the tee. Take plenty of balls. You might well need them. Average loss 5 balls. Enjoy the round and the countryside.
The course was in great condition. The greens were in very good condition and receptive. The fairways were immaculate. Once again a really good experience.
Well Worth It
I got the impression this is more a hotel than a Golf Club/Course. There is no clubhouse as such, and no members, however the Hotel reception staff know there stuff when it comes to welcoming golfers. The course was in really good condition however there are a couple of long walks between greens and the next tee box, all of which are quite tranquil. That said we really enjoyed the layout, some short par 4's and a longer par 5, and the water hazards come in to play very well. The views of the property are enjoyed from several greens, and the natural beauty with all its wildlife are something I've not witnessed before in such abundance! Red Kites, Buzzards, and wild Deer all viewed very closely. There are some lovely trees on the property that also come in to play. There were only the green staff on the course when we played. I don't want to do the green staff injustice as they do a great job, I just feel if the Hotel/Owners really threw themselves behind the "golf course" they'd be on to a winner. We really enjoyed the round and for the price it's well worth a visit if you are in the area.
