The course greens and fairways were great compared to other courses have recently played. The greens were in good condition. and the pin locations made it a bit challenging.
great course for the $$$
what more can I say.excellent experiance!!!! very friendly staff.
Course is short, tight, with some challenging holes.
Strategically placed sand traps keep you honest. We enjoyed our round, and considering the extreme drought the county is experiencing, the course conditions were fairly good. The price was right and we will try it again next year when we are in FL.
Great Course for the Money
The city of Bartow , the course superintendant and employees always keep it in top shape. I've golfed there for may years and they are consistantly cordial
Nice course nice people
Had fun. Fairways were in good shape but could have used a little more water (Florida has been dry lately). Greens were nice with very few straight putts. Out of the way but I will play again.
Very old and very interesting
Was a piece of history since the course has been around since the 20's. Enjoyed the fact that they had orange tees which for an older golfer and female it made it a more pleasant experience. More courses should think of doing this. would certainly go back again even though it is over an hour from home.
GREAT GOLF COURSE AND STAFF.
COURSE IS IN GREAT CONDITION AND HAS A GREAT MIX OF HOLES THAT MAKE THE COURSE CHALLENGING AND FUN. MY FRIEND FROM OREGON IS HERE AND HE LOVED THE COURSE AND THE PRICE.
good course for the money
nice course. long round because we had 6 players in one group ahead of us and farther ahead there was a 9 SOME playing together!! there should be a marshal or ranger on the course so this does not happen!!
Worth the trip!
Make your money on the front nine because the back nine gets a little tricky. It is an easy drive so dont let the location scare you away.
Average course all around
The course condition was okay some not level tee boxes. Greens were fairly slow and not in the best condition. Fairways looked fine and bunkers were maintained by staff although clearly there were a few lazy players there who did not rake after themselves. There was some very bare spots in the rough with extremely hard ground with acorns and other debris in areas. If you play the ball as it lies out of the rough you are going to get some nasty lies if you are a casual player who does not mind moving the ball around a bit you would be fine. Overall I would say this course is pretty average.
Tough old geezer!
Pretty challenging course when dry. I was a bit disappointed in the course conditioning. Looks like since it is a Municipal course, they could give it a bit more TLC and lots of reclaimed water. Fairways had sparse grass and greens were a bit unkempt.
Greens are small and fast. If you like tight lies, you'll love this one.
Appreciate the course because it is very old and Donald Ross designed it. Setting is very Old Florida with big moss covered oaks.
Good Muni
Traveled about an hour south of home to try out Bartow Golf Club. The gentleman in the pro shop was very accommodating and the Grill had good food and cold beer at reasonable prices. The course is set on a large track of land with no houses on it and sizable fairways. The 6600+ yards are all us amateurs could handle, but there are 4 sets of tees to make an enjoyable round for anyone. The small quick greens were usually guarded by traps with plenty of sand. Fairways had lots of mature trees bordering them that, depending on your cut or pull, could cause havoc to an errant shot. You have to cross a street to reach about half the course and the back nine has some water hazards that can come into play.Beware! All in all , a good flat track with a nice practice area as well
True "Old Florida" course
This course has mostly wide and flat fairways lined with large oak trees. There are a few water hazards and some fairly deep bunkers. I would rate the condition of the greens as very good. The condition of the fairways is not so good (not a lot of grass) but it's usually easy to find your ball. The exception to that is holes 6 & 12 which border the driving range, which sometimes makes finding you ball amongst the range balls rather difficult, even on the fairway.
Great bang for the buck.
Well maintained. Some par 4's are a little long. Also has a very good restaurant for b'fast or lunch.
Easy to find your way around and it wasn't busy.
The bunkers were not maintained very well. The fairways need more grass on them. The greens had some bad places in them. For the price we paid, it wasn't bad.
Typical Florida Municipal style course
08:00 tee time w/ 2 buddies. Fairways plush. Roughs sparse but low enough to find errant shots quickly. Small postage stamp greens that roll medium paced & fairly true. Couple of greens bare & needing water bad but there is a drought. One of the ponds here is almost completely dry. Some tee boxes also bare. Otherwise a fun no frills course. Have played here often & will come back again. Carts are battery powered w/ windshield & rain cover in back.
good value for $$$$
Although we played in 3:30 min due to tee boxes & greens being so close we waited on every hole. GREAT walking course ( flat ) greens a challenge as they are all crested making it hard to hold the green on approach shots.
