Ron Jaworski's RiverWinds Golf & Tennis Club
About
Ron Jaworski’s Riverwinds Golf & Tennis Club is situated along a scenic stretch of grassland between the banks of the Woodbury Creek and the deep harbor marina on the Delaware River. Its location gives it the feel of traditional seaside links courses found in Scotland and Ireland, which is further enforced by the sod-wall bunkers that lurk near the greens. The layout features plenty of water and incorporates the surrounding wetlands as well. One unique feature of the golf course is that the routing winds across a mile-long twisting burn, creating a visually interesting setting. Riverwinds begins with a gentle, mostly flat front nine but the mounding becomes more aggressive as you move onto the back. All of the holes face a different direction, which means you’ll most likely be using all the clubs in your bag to tackle the crosswinds and rugged terrain.

Great experience!
Nice layout , good greens pace of play was fine. Staff was very friendly! Love the Bar and restaurant on site!
Nice Course
Played this course numerous times but not in the last 2 years. Changes on hole #1 and #9 have made the course easier. Once protected wet lands now playable surfaces. Still in good shape and can’t beat the views.
Nice course
I love this course.. being a woman it was easy to navigate the course. It was flat not too much obstacle around.. I would recommend this course to any woman beginners or advanced.. can’t wait to go back and play again
Almost made it....
We knew we were going to be working hard to get this round in but we faught our way through heavy rain at times as well as dodging lightning in the area. We made it to the 15th hole and the ranger told us to hold on finishing the round and give it 30 minutes to see what happens. What? We were shocked. 4 groups left on the course and they hold us up? After working all day to get the round in? We could have easily hustled the last 3 holes to complete the round. Stuffed by the course we carefully navigated all day to get it in. Very disappointed, no rain check or other offer to help us deal with 15 / 18 holes.
Great day
As a 2some we were paired with 2 locals. They were a delight and helpful with our shot selection. The course was in great condition with a fun and challenging back 9.
Riverwinds
I haven't played the course in many years because I was a member at a private club. The only hole I remembered was 17 and in my opinion it's still a great hole.
The overall conditions were better than I expected. The tee boxes were good and the condition of the greens were better than good. I was actually surprised with the speed of them. (somewhat fast). My only suggestion is that Jaw's invests in some divot repair tools and the pro shop should give each player one and a quick lesson on how to repair their divots. We probably fixed 5 per hole.
Saturday at RiverWinds
Great course, friendly staff. My rating is based on fairway conditions, they had a lot of divots, and tee box conditions, some were in rough shape.
This is a great course and with a little more care, will be worth the money for a round.
Nice Laout
The layout is great and allows you to hit driver on all holes except of course the par 3’s.
Play it from the back tees to truly enjoy it.
1st Timer
Yesterday was a great time. I am always nervous about checking out a new course. Usually when it's just Dad and I playing we like to be by ourselves and you never know who you're going to be playing with. You can't pick and that's understandable. (Being paired up was not a problem and you can never control who you pair people with... fellow golfers make note of that. You get what you get).
Well, wide open fairways that you could easily tell where the fairways and where the rough was located.
Great friendly staff. The girl Taylor that works your snack stand. She always had a smile on her face. Didn't catch her last name but, she was a big help. Had the food ready to go and all I had to do was place my order and I was on my way.
A bit out of my price range but, I found a hor deal on GolfNow that helped with making it am easier time to play.
Course is very well maintained. The only thing I would want to see is more cart paths being paved. As well as the distance to the putting green being shorter or making another where you go to pick up your cart.
Definitely recommend the course to anyone. I hate Philly however, you get some really nice views of the city and the course.
An Absolute Pleasure from First Tee to Last Putt
This course was an absolute pleasure to play. First, the rate on GolfNow was fantastic. Next, upon paying at the pro shop to finding our way to the first tee, everyone was friendly and inviting. The most important aspect, the course, was in great shape and has an awesome layout with great views. The fairways are fairly wide, the rough a great length, and the greens smooth and fast. A nice touch were the American flagsticks on every hole for Memorial Day. Cannot wait to play it again. Highly recommend. One of the best courses I’ve played in the Philly region.
Nice course
I like playing this course and highly recommend to all. I’ve had an experience with one of the starters but let it go but I can’t help but put it in words what happened today. I got to the course 25 before my tee time, checked in then got loaded on the cart. As I was ready to go to the putting green to practice few putts, one of the gentlemen told me I had to wait for a single that would be riding with me. I waited about 17 minutes for this single who hasn’t even checked in. I told the gentleman that he had me detained for no reason while he could’ve just send that person to the first tee. 4 minutes before my tee time he lets me go. Once I got to the first tee I learned that the single has checked in and is on his way. I ended up teeing off 12 minutes late. This was my first experience in the last 15 years playing. To make the matters worse that single was the most deliberate golfer I’ve ever played with. He was nice though but so damm deliberate as if he was playing the us open. I hope to never play with him again my head will explode. Course was in great condition, greens were fast.
good day with plenty of time to consider you next shot
The pace of play is normally 4 hours and 20 minutes. We played to 5 hours and 40 minutes.
The starter does a good job of letting you know the course rules and the way to pace you game. But someone playing perhaps 8 to 10 holes in front of us did not pay attention. The pace picked up after the 9th and 10th holes.
If hanging out with you group after the round for a beer is your thing this is not your place. It has a pro shop that is combined with the tennis club. The warm-up area is a net and AstroTurf tee boxs about 10 yards back. Nice green for putting while waiting for your start.
Pace of play held us back
Rough because they had high school golf match going on which held up pkay because some groups would not play through the students, ended up bouncing around holes. Course in good shape except for airrated greens
Good course shows a lot of play
The course has a links style layout. The winds off of the river gives it a links-ish feel. There is an “Island” green that extends into a boaters party cove that should add a nice finish.
The tee boxes need some TLC and the fairways need to come back. Should be in good shape for summer.
Good day for golf
Great day for golf, Ron time to spruce up the tee boxes.
in great shape for this early in season
you normally do not expect fast and well maintained greens at this time of year but Riverwinds is in terrific shape for this early in the season. The guys who maintain this course are doing a great job and the course itself is really a very challenging test. Go play here as its one of the best publics in this area
The best course in South Jersey
Played Riverwinds on Saturday (3/23) and Sunday (3/24). The course is always in great shape. Saturday was brutally windy so the course played much tougher than Sunday when conditions were sublime. I can't recommend this course enough although the price does get to be a little on the expensive side in the summer. Regardless, it's a fun course that can be challenging but can also provide low scores and always provides a wonderful set of finishing holes along the Delaware River.
