Course layout is good. Pretty course. Some good holes.
Tee boxes are pretty beat up. Fairways are in good shape. No one repairs ball marks on greens
Overall had a good time and enjoyed course. A little more work on course would improve experience.
Lakes and Meadows
2 fantastic 9's. Scenic holes of varying difficulty. A good test from the blue tees. Greens are BIG and undulating. Very fun golf course.
Great layout
This course never disappoints. Although, it’s usually out of my price range for a round I was able to score a deal on TeeOff which made this a complete steal. The only complain would be some of the tee boxes were either beat up or not mowed down enough. But everything else was a 9 or 10. I scored a couple more “deals” and can’t wait to go back.
Covid Collapse
I have played here many times but they are still now prepared for play. Gave us 1/2 a bucket of range balls for some reason. Wanted to charge us another $8 for more balls even though round cost us $135. Check in staff barely attentive and again hoarding range balls for warm up. Bunkers are a mess. Sand needed in most bunkers. Greens have seen better days. Greens had brown spot, tons of ball marks, and all seem to be different speeds since maintenance Crew is thin. Staff on course pretty rude also.
Generally one of the best in NY but not worth the fee in this condition.. hoping post Covid they get back to business.
Beautiful course. Nice conditions but prepare for very hilly terrain( albeit gorgeous course!).
A little slow play but very nice & professional staff. Nice patio & restaurant too!
Tale of 2 nines
Lakes 9 was beautiful and challenging while fairways was uninspiring and average.
Very Disappointing
most disappointed i've ever been in a course. total rip off for $140,. Great layout but course and greens are in terrible condition. Needs work
Just a little more love...
No complaints with layout and the piece of land is gorgeous. Lakes/meadows seems to be what they are offering these days which is a nice mix. Only real issues are tee boxes and fairways. Especially first to second cut to rough. You can hit great shots and show up to the ball with a very bad lie. Greens are great and roll nicely except for people not fixing their marks which has nothing do with management. Not sure troon wants to throw too much cash to this property, but if they did it could be special.
This course is a premier golf course. It is challenging. For an average golfer like myself it is worth playing centennial at least twice each season.
This course is just plain dangerous
I played the Lakes Course. The cart paths on 3 front nine holes are extremely dangerous and unfit for motorized travel. The course apparently think that putting up warning signs somehow insulates them from liability-t doesn't. There are some things so dangerous that no amount of warnings will transform a person's negligence into acceptable behavior with a few signs The public are not experts who have evaluated forensically the paths, their angle etc. The public relies upon you to look out for the safety of paying guests. Not only are the steep angles an unacceptable hazard , but these paths are slippery even when bone dry. Also, the paths are banked the wrong way, The sections I refer to need to be regraded and resurfaced -they are unsafe at any speed. The Lakes course is very difficult-at least the front nine in fact it may be unfairly difficult. On many holes you are surrounded by trouble and you need to be a long hitter to keep your score low. Fairways were in good shape as were the greens. Gas carts smelled of exhaust . Staff were very nice
Worth the drive from NYC
I booked at Centennial randomly based on the tee times available the night before the round. I could not have picked a better spot if I'd tried. The staff was friendly and grounds amazing. I didn't play my best golf but I had a blast. The only issue was the pace, we were behind a group that was playing slowly and therefore waited at some tee boxes. Typically I don't mind but the group behind us continued to hit into us and press at each hole, in the end that's bad golf karma for them. I will absolutely play Centennial again this season.
The course is very challenging. Long par 4's with a lot of hills. Water comes into play often. The fairways are moderately forgiving but the approach shots are not as forgiving. You have to be on your game to score well. Looking forward to coming back and playing.
Centennial Lake & Fairway Courses
Our foursome got to play both 9’s and found them to be a very challenging layout.
The fairways and tee boxes were in good shape-however the greens were slow.
The course is starting to show it’s age as the cart paths are in poor condition as are a number of stairs with rotting timbers etc.
