Golf Club At South Hampton
About
The Golf Club at South Hampton was designed to give every golfer appropriate risk-and-reward opportunities that supply both encouragement to beginners and challenges for more advanced players. The slope and contour of the course’s landscape is its trademark with strategic mounding and over 60 contoured bunkers that emphasize the terrain’s natural undulations. The course features rolling fairways and massive greens. There are also sixteen large lakes that come into play throughout. The signature hole is the tremendous par-5, 17th, which is a scenic hole that features a lake, fairway bunkers, and a breaking green. Although the course is a challenge, there are six sets of tees to accommodate all skill levels.

nice course for the $$$
other than the grass was dormant, the course overall was fine. Ball would roll like no tomorrow. the pace of play was fine.
Good day at SH
Good day today, paired with three nice guys. Greens could have been a bit better, looks like they have been getting a lot of playing time. Too much residual fertilizer on some greens, but overall the course was playing well and in good shape.
The good reviews you read here are all bogus.
There is absolutely nothing that is excellent about this golf course. The driving range and the putting green behind the clubhouse are cow pastures. The rest of the course is not much better. On the greens, your ball will bounce and wiggle the whole way to the hole. If you wind up in a sand trap and you are lucky, there will be a rake that is not broken. It is a shame because it is a Mark McCumber design. It used to be maintained very well. The current owners have really let it go downhill, but they charge premium prices.
Show your greenskeeper.
Hey, Southampton, this is how you replace an old hole!!!

It is too bad …
And it is also false advertising because the pictures you see of this course on Golf Now look nothing like the conditions that currently exist at this golf course.
Great Place - forget the range
I like this course and play it lot and am considering joining. The course layout can be challenging off some tees, but I like the overall layout. They have some really bad spots on the greens, that they are covering up with what I think is mud and green paint. After I putted thru this crap once, I kept moving my ball to avoid it.
The practice area is great - bunker/green, chipping green, numerous putting greens and a driving range
Avoid the range - it is mud with some grass somewhere - I couldn't find it and it doesnt look like they are doing anything to improve the areas you CANT hit front. The members range in the back looks like Augusta. I paid $25 for 2 buckets of balls to hit off terrrible turf conditions, Do Better
I don't get the hype
Not sure I get the hype. Slow play, only got in 13 holes over 3.5 hours, painted green greens with a lot of sand and bare spots. Fairways were ok, but anything just off was a crapshoot as far as grass. No course markers, outside of the 150 and no tech in the carts. No hole maps / signs on the course, etc. Julington Creek and Cimmaron always get and deserve a bad wrap, but I'm not sure this was any better. $50 to play @ 2pm I guess makes it better (I guess?), but I don't think I'll go back.
PS: sounds like you have not played Cimarrone in a while. It is under new ownership and the difference is like night and day. You won’t be moving your ball on the greens over there to avoid bad spots. Give it another try.
BINGO! My observations over the past two years exactly!! Overpriced and underwhelming.
This is a fun course with a t box for everyone.
Played the course with my wife and we both had a great time.A lot of sand and I found enough of it. We both found the course to be fair.. we will play it agai on our next trip to the area.
The two owners just don’t seem to care ..
I am told that daddy bought the course for them. I am told they spend their time in Ponte Vedra drinking FuFu drinks at one of the courses. The driving range and the practice putting green behind the clubhouse are cow pastures. The rest of the course is not much better. It is a true shame because it is a Mark McCumber design and used to be in really good condition all the time. Play Cimarrone across the highway for a much better value and experience.
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
EXCELLENT ABOUT THIS GOLF COURSE OR IT’S AMENITIES. IMHO. I REFUSE TO PLAY THERE DURING THEIR CURRENT PRICIE STRUCTURE. .
Great course, even better service and friendliness
Fun agreeable layout. Diverse set of golf holes that are generous off the tee with very fast and firm large greens. The course drains really well since it was much drier than other courses in the area after lots of rain. All the personal were professional and friendly. They have all the amenities you could want: range, short game area, patio and small pro shop. Would definitely come back anytime!
Great Course
Had a great round despite the weather not being so good. Course seemed to be in great condition overall. Highly recommended
You are blowing smoke! Why do you have two comments in here for February 1 and they are all excellent? There is absolutely nothing excellent about this golf course.
