Second Time Playing in One Week
This course reminded me of some of the courses I played growing up. Enjoyed the rustic feel of a wooded course and the wild animals that watched as I played though. While the course is under some major maintenance the course is in very good condition. I look forward to going back for another round.
A very challenging track.
So very sorry to see this great course reach such a bad condition. This has always been a great place to play but it is evident the owners have tried to take short cut and try to save money. The tees were even in bad condition...
Under Maintenance but in Great Condition
This course reminded me of some of the courses I played growing up. Enjoyed the rustic feel of a wooded course and the wild animals that watched as I played though. While the course is under some major maintenance the course is in very good condition. I look forward to going back for another round.
Construction on hole 10
Construction around hole 10 has the tee box moved up. Making the turn gets a bit confusing you have to go way around or drive on the street for a block or so. A few of the greens were a bit rough needing some attention. All in all a nice course with plenty of deer, wild turkey, etc.
Even with construction!
So, I have played Alaqua before the construction started and the only thing different now is the #10 par 5 is now a par 4. there is some noise to contend with but if you play golf to play and not for asthetics then you should do fine. The course was tough as it can be for a shorter track, but fun, beautiful and well groomed. The greens had air holes, typical maintenance this time of year, so putting was difficult sometimes. Give yourself a couple strokes and go play this one cause for the price it is worth it, even with construction.
At present the course has changes on the 10 hole and you start there playing the back 9 first because the construction going on.
Apart from losing the par 5 10th (now par 3, 210 yards) due to construction by the driving range (gone too) apart from that course is fine. Oh now you don't have the luxury of stopping for a break at the club house between 9"s any more due to construction.
Watch out for the wildlife!
The course had just been aerated so the greens were quite sandy. However when you play along side deer, turkeys, hawks and gators you tend to have a great time. I have played this course before and will play it again. The layout is great and not to many people on the course.
Take advantage of the construction
The range and part of the first hole are currently under construction but that didn't really bother me at all. When the construction is complete the prices will probably go up significantly so take advantage of the cheap greens fee while its there. Fun and challenging layout and the fairways were beautifully maintained. Greens were just getting over being aerified but were still rolling true and can only be getting better.
After 3 days of rain, it was very wet. But overall course was in good condition concerning the rain!
Course was wet but still in great condition.
Lots of construction going on makes restroom facilities difficult. bathroom code didn't work :-( hole one is shortened but still okay.
physically beautiful course with lots of wildlife present
Set amongst one of the most upscale housing developments of central Floirda, the course is well maintained, beuatiful and demanding. Lots of water and elevated tees. The staff is friendly and helpful. A tremendous number of docile wild critters, incluing alligators, deer an turkey are seen on nearly every hole.
Loved the course
Course was way better than i though it would be by reading other reviews. Beautiful course, and alot of fun to play, with all the water
and narrow fairways. It was in excellent condition and the construction didn't bother me a bit. I look forward playing it again.
Great layout, slow pace and construction that I didn't know about
I'm a huge fan of this course layout. Lots of water without being too penal, lots of wildlife, greens and fairways all in good shape. Only detractors were the pace of play, we waited on every shot, tee to green, and the range and 1st holes were closed due to construction, I wish this had been on their site so I wouldn't have arrived so early.
Beautiful course
Nicest course I've played in Orlando. I would recommend highly
Pick the right tees or bring lots of golfballs!
Alaqua is an enjoyable trip through a beautifully landscaped community of massive villas. Conditions except where construction is going on are very very good - greens are well maintained (#6 is due to be repalced and needs it) but not at all fast when I played. Many holes involve forced carries over water (and gators) so pick the right tees or be prepared to lay up from time to time. Most holes ask for some kind of shape from the tee, and a few have very limited landing areas. 13 is an island green which is 177 from the back but there are other holes just as tough. I'd play it again with pleasure. Golfnow price is an excellent value.
I LOVE THIS COURSE! FRIENDLY STAFF, GREAT GREENS, SOME CONSTRUCTION ONGOING, ONCE PASSED, ALL ELSE EXCELLENT. ABOUNDS WITH WILDLIFE AND FORREST.
WONDERFUL COURSE. ONE OF FLORIDA'S BEST. VERY FRIENDLY STAFF, GREAT LAYOUT, CHALLENGING AND FAIR, A MUST PLAY BEFORE IT GOES 100% PRIVATE AGAIN.
I wiil give this course 4 stars
great golf course the staff is very friendly one of the best in this area. I M looking to play some rounds with my friends.
Great course, beautiful estate
This is a beautiful course which wends its way through a gated community with some stunning properties to admire. Water features quite heavily, making many of the holes visually appealing as well as challenging at times. Course overall was well maintained, greens in good condition, but building work means that the 18th hole has been dramatically reduced and a temporary green put in, which was a rather sad end to an otherwise great round. Also a shame that such a peaceful course has noisy and sluggish petrol golf carts. Also remember to ask for the code for the toilet block, as we didn't know it so couldn't use the on-course toilets.
Will definitely play again, great value for money.
great value for the price
Played early and was amazed at the variety of wildlife we encountered. Deer, gators, osprey all within 20 feet of our group. Where golf and nature meet is not just a marketing ploy it is a fact. The course was a bit challanging for a high handicaper like me, but the asthetics of the course, the variety of holes, and overall experience made it very worthwhile.
Good layout / needs some attention
I played this course with a teenager, 2 experienced golfers and a 70 year old senior. The course has a nice design with lots of water. Challenging for good golfers and could be frustrating for non-experienced golfers. Greens were in good shape however fairways and rough need attention.
Still great, even during construction.
I've played here several times and it's always a challenging but enjoyable round. The staff is now challenged to get you off to a good start despite the confusing configuration. New home construction now has you starting on #10, a hole that has been chopped from a par 5 to a driveable par 4. After that, enjoy yourself. Even though there are plenty of ways to lose balls, there is plenty of wildlife to see. Deer, osprey and even an eagle came to visit during our round.
