Reviews
Seedy Greens
I enjoyed the course, except the greens were Very Seedy & a little bumpy on a few holes. The pro shop worker was very nice & the coffee/donuts were a nice treat, as it was chilly when we played. I lost several balls, but it was a good day of golf.
Hi there,
Thank you for your review! We're glad you overall had a good experience here. We hope to host you again!
Worth playing
Fun course, staff was attentive to our needs, greens were not playable, needs improvement
Hi Fairfax3024,
Thanks for your review. We appreciate that coming to our attention and we will try our best to improve. We hope to see you out here again!
Not a bad course but probably won’t go back
The course is very short, par 65, no par fives and no sand traps. There was probably 5-6 par threes. The design was good and made it challenging even though it was short. Tight fairways that required you to move the ball if you wanted to hit driver off the box. Easy to get into trouble with water or trees if you were not hitting it straight. My major issue with the course was that there is currently no driving range or chipping/putting area right now. I didn’t feel warmed up until hope 5 so it’s kind of hard to get out there and really start off strong.
Hi rholcomb620,
Thank you for your review. We appreciate your honest feedback and will take that into account when looking at the course. We hope to see you back here one day!
Great for value
If you want to practice your driver, woods and irons you picked a good course. The greens were horrendous though. All the reviews I read said they fixed he greens but maybe that was a while ago because they were bad. Overall the course is really nice and love the improvements they have made here. Would def recommend just don’t expect to sink putts.
Hi tejas0510,
Thank you for your review. We appreciate your honest feed back and will take that into account when looking at the course. We hope you still enjoyed your time here and hope to see you again in the future!
Fun iron play
First do not map directions to course through golf now. Golf now has course pinned incorrectly so maps took me 7 miles away from course. Almost made me miss my tee time. Golf now needs to fix this.
The course is a great course to sharpen your iron game. I only needed 4 iron - sand wedge. As a first timer the angles off the tee boxes will put you directly hitting at a hazard. Take your range finder so you can map out your landing area off the tee and trust the angle off the tee to hit your spot. Make a mistake and hit it long or short expect to add a stroke. Was a fun course to walk. Only issue I had was the hot deal tee time only allowed 1 hr and 25 min to play the front nine before the kid squad took it over to play their scramble. I only made it through 6 before I had to vacate to back 9 so shorted me 3 holes of play. Greens were a little bumpy but better then most this time of year. All around a fun course. I will play again in the future. I will not trust golf mows mapping skills anymore. This is the second course they had pinned incorrectly.
Hi MARRGP,
Thank you for your review! We appreciate the feedback you have for us. While we do not operate under Golf Now we hope to have this situation fixed and thank you for bringing it to our attention. We hope to see you back!
It was a bit rainy so the course was very soggy! Greens looked like they had been previously flooded and had debris on them. I’ve played here before and I’m sure to be back. It’s cheap and pace of play is fast.
Hi Grant5028074,
Thank you for playing at Heron Lakes. We genuinely appreciate you taking the time to give feedback, and we apologize that the conditions of the greens were not satisfactory for you. We hope you come back soon and see the better conditions for yourself.
No warm up area
Course is very narrow and there is no warm up area.if you can’t keep it straight don’t even bother you’ll end up hitting a house or car. Not worth more than $10
Hi u494368284. We appreciate your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your experience with us. We hope that in the future you are able to give us another chance!
Thanks for your review!
Thanks for your review of our course!
Short course 4 iron practice
Greens were good with a few bad spots here and there, but nothing to really complain about.
Same with the fairways . Its a short course I come to put my long irons in play with.
Staff is always friendly
If you play on the weekend, (fri-sun) they'll start you off on No. 10
Bottom line, it's fairly priced for a nice short course.
Thanks for your review Cesar2013! We appreciate the feedback. We can't wait to have you back again soon!
no practice free or driving range
no range, should provide practicing putting green at least so i can worm up before tee off.
otherwise money worth, cute course, narrow lots of water pond, no par 5, lots of par 3.
fast pace, friendly staffs, do not go to restaurant, though.
Thanks Joosangbai for the review! We are glad to hear you enjoyed your time with us! Hopefully we will see you back on the greens with us again soon!
Great Course
Enjoyed playing Heron Lakes. The owners have made great improvements on the course over the last several years. It is a tight course where an average, “flail away McDuff” player can do well.
Thanks Michael5893275 for the review! We are happy to hear that you enjoy your time with us out on the greens! Hope to see you back again soon!
Flail away McDuff I really doubt that you cannot do good on this course if you flail away, the course is the tightest course in Houston voted by golfer Digest true not very long therefore you can use your irons and possibly score decent if not good but greens are fast so you have to putt well to score well, just saying
Short Course
Tight and narrow Fairways leave the driver at home playing from the tips does have a lot of legitimately challenging par 3's but you can make up for those by teeing off with a 4 iron or hybrid and still have a 150 or less in on most par 4's ; greens were not the prettiest but firm and fast excellent value will definitely come back and play again
Thanks dvera111 for the review! We appreciate the time you took to let us know about your experience! We can't wait to see you back out here soon!
Thanks for the review!
Fantastic course
Heron Lakes is short but sweet. Lots of Par 3's and a few Par 4's will get you working on your irons and short game. The greens are well kept and the the staff is incredibly friendly! Love every chance I get to play here and will be doing it again soon.
Thanks u332563903 for the kind review! We are thrilled to hear you had a great time with us out on the course! Hope to see you out here more often in 2018!
Ok practice for position off the tee box
leave your driver at home if you hit it more than 250 yards. Used mine twice and do to narrow landing areas and OB not worth going for green in one. Greens were fantastic rolled true and made more 10+ footers as long as you started them online you had a chance. Fast but true. Better off practicing long irons or hybrids off the tee boxes. Played with the wife and from the forward tee,s was fun for her as she was able to drive and have a chance to hit on the green on almost every par 4. Pace of play little slow but there was a junior tournament going on in parallel with us. Would play again but probably at a discounted rate. Beer cart on weeekend was by about every 4 holes. staff was friendly. From the tips some challenging par 3’s
Thanks John7374658 for the review and all the tips! We hope to see you and your wife out on the course again very soon!
