Rawls Rocks!
If you haven't yet played the Rawls Course--do it!
On a 65 degree day with no wind, I was able to play by myself and finish in 3 hours.
Course was much more defenseless without the customary winds.
Great way to spend an afternoon in Lubbock!

Rawls
The only down side to Rawls is pace. I heard counter person explain on the phone they were short handed. Play was stacked by people jumping out of line at the turn. There were three groups waiting on 10 when we turned. We did not stop and the group we had been following stopped, went to their car,and the bar, added a player and then demanded they get back into the line in front of us. To save stress we allowed it. Then they stepped up hit 3 out of 4 balls into the water and then all hit second shots not from the drop but from the tee. Would suggest they NEED pro active marshall at several spots on the back. We had a marshall ask us to pick up play and WE had been waiting until one from our group hit an errant tee shot and we took some time to find it we moved quickly back and waited on the group in front of us and experienced another very long wiat at the 17th tee . I LOVE this course but 5.5 hours is a very long round in the heat.
Fun Play and Layout
I enjoyed the course and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Fairways and greens were in pristine condition.
Only suggestion would be for the course to provide better directions between some of the holes. First time players might get turned around like I did.
Nonetheless, the course is a must play if you are in the area.
Great time
My wife and I played late afternoon and couldn’t ask for a better time. FYI shot a 79
Best course in town!!
Best fairways, greens and, tee boxes in the city!! Friendly staff. Great food.
Hot Day
100 degrees but still with it. Beautiful course and friendly staff.
Rawls
The best golf course to play in Lubbock. Can’t go wrong. Working on the greens now. Great staff.
Solid West Texas Golf At its Finest
I am a Freshman at Texas Tech and a member of the Texas Tech Club Golf Team. I take my golf very seriously and this course caters to that need. Pace of play can vary day to day as do most courses but most of the members and especially the staff know how to keep a club healthy. overall the grass is mostly dead due to cold temperatures but still plays wonderful. I look forward to a great season on a live and healthy version of the Rawls. The staff is very nice and will make sure you have a good experience. the only thing I would like different would be less days that the high schoolers come to practice because they are pretty loud and obnoxious and take up every inch of the practice facility in a couple early afternoons during the week but it is what it is. Only course in west Texas to know how to run a golf course.
Had played this course two years ago in a morning round. Played this time on a Friday afternoon. Pace of play was much slower, made worse by a five-some with one walker two groups ahead of us. My opinion, five-somes should not be allowed anytime when the course is busy.
Unique in Lubbock
This links style course has wide fairways, healthy grass and is always in great shape. The greens are a fair speed with lots of undulation. The rough is impossible to play from if you're fortunate to find an errant shot. Be ready to hit provisionals if you think you off course. The rough can cause pace issues if groups start spraying it. Really a fun course the front nine usually is considered the easier side. The staff is terrific, always friendly and helpful. Worth the visit if you are in Lubbock.
Game Day Fun
Thanks to the front desk for allowing me to go out a little earlier so I could get to go yo the Texas Tech football game. I still had time to use the practice range. Nice perk. Paired up with another family who came in to see their daughter (Meg was a good player!). Fairways are in good shape for mid September. Greens are gentle enough to hit from outside 150. Bunkers we'll maintained, but stay out I always book a tee time before I get into town. Worth $60.
