course conditions
This use to be my favorite course, however since the change in the management there it has gone down hill. The course itself is in awful condition, starting with the greens, which are a wreck, compared to before the change, I believe in part due o laying off of help. The inside people are different, always seem to be new faces, not the same friendly , well informed staff. Just not the same, well groomed and maintained course, player friendly place I had come to enjoy so much. Still love the lay-out.
this course has completely fallen off. Do not waste your time or money
Played here 4 times in the last year. It was good in the spring but is now the absolute worst course I have ever played. The green are ruined except the 3 Bermuda greens. The bunkers are unplayable and the fairways are just pasture. They should never charge full price
OUCH!!!! Very disappointing!!! Goat Track!!!
One of the worst course conditions ever I've played. What a rip off for the money. The majority of the greens were eaten away The threesome in front of me, a single, would not let me play through and they were teaching one of their players how to play golf. HMMMMMM :-( Really on a Sunday morning!!!!
Great layout.
I've been wanting to play this course for a while and finally made it out there. Loved the layout of the course. The greens were suffering a bit from the hot weather we've been having but still rolled pretty good. The bunkers were notrocious but luckily only found them once and it was on the first hole so it didn't effect my play. I'm not a long hitter but we played it from the blue tees and still managed to score a decent score. I would definitely go back and play it and do recommend this track to anyone who hasn't played it.
what was everyone else playing?
The fairways were crispy, the greens mushy (well to be fair there were 2 greens on the front in decent shape, but really slow) and the bunkers were not maintained. Only redeeming factor was the pace of play because nobody was out there on a beautiful day because I guess they've learned that the reviews on this site are a joke if that course gets a 4.2/5. I'll give it a 2 because the layout was decent and it was cheap but all the comments about it being worth the drive and a hidden gem are delusional.
Very Impressed
Went in expecting a typical muni type course. Was VERY surprised. The course is in great shape interesting layout Greens were firm but rolled true. Even decide to join there players club because of this round
great day on the course
course is in great condition, greens are super soft.
Fun track
I have played here 6 or 7 times now and have yet to be disappointed. I love this track. With all of the rain we have gotten in North Texas recently, the course should stay in great shape this summer. The staff is always helpful and nice, as well as the folks who play here. It is definitely worth the drive out to Sherman.
Great value for the money!
This course is in great shape! The greens are soft and roll very true. Best value for the Sherman area by far
Great day of golf!
Beautiful day and hardly anyone on the course. The greens are in spectacular condition. Fairways good. I play this course when I visit Texas as it is scenic, challenging, and enjoyable.
Stone Creek Course Review
This course is one of the best in the area. With the course elevation changes and the course layout you end up with a very challenging round of golf. The views from the clubhouse and a couple of the tee boxes offer some spectacular views of the area. We played as a twosome this day and I expected some wait time with a couple of foursomes in front of us, but it still took us 2 1/2 hours to complete the first 9 holes. Both foursomes were playing extremely slow, but the foursome directly in front of us finally let us play thru on hole 14 and we completed the round in just under 5 hours.
Worth the drive
25 mins from 380 and 75. Well worth the short drive. Diamond in the rough. This is a fantastic course. Beautiful layout. Played as a foursome in exactly 4 hours. Once you're off the first hole all you hear is the sounds of birds and the sounds of a club hitting a golf ball. Glad I found this hidden treasure. Wil be back again very soon.
Challenging
I found this course in good condition considering the time of year. Lots of creeks and trees to challenge any level of player. In summation I had a good time playing this course and look forward to playing it again when it warms up a bit.
Good course - great value
The greens were great - the fairways & tees were good - definitely a course to play again. Played as a twosome - the 4some ahead of us waved us through on their own without prompting,
A great feature of this course is after you leave the 1st green, you will NOT hear another auto, just birds singing and the wind whistling through the trees - a very relaxing day on the course.
Pretty course with some challenges
It's reasonably maintained overall. The first thing I found was the slow greens, and it took a while for me to adjust to them. The reason could be the heavy rain the night before, but I think the height of the grass also looked tall. Some fairways are too hard on the surface and not much grass on them, but it did not bother me much. The scenery is beautiful. There are definitely some difficult holes that can get you quickly, frustrate you and possibly ruin your day. Overall, this is a good course especially if you enjoy the surroundings of the golf courses and have a little bit of course management skills.
Good course and great service
Very nice course with some very good risk-reward holes. Several holes that you can cut some yards off with well placed tee shots. Stay in the fairways, there are quite a few well placed sand traps and trouble just outside of fairways. Pro shop employees, Bartender and Marshals are very helpful and friendly.
Above Average golf experience.
We play a lot we will travel up to 50 miles to play on any Saturday or Sunday. This course is new to GolfNow so we picked it, Our Home course closed this summer and we think we could play here because of the distance and the condition of this course compared to others in our area.
Great layout but fairways little rough
If they can get the fairways and greens in better condition this course would be great to play. Even if you hit the fairway you're not promised good grass to hit off of. Also the greens were in pretty good condition although most of them had some areas burnt up. Again I love the layout just get fairways in better condition.
Great course
I played the night after a 4 inch downpour of rain and the course was in awesome shape. New management really taking care of this course. Best it's looked in the last 4 years.
