Great condition and beautiful views
The course is very challenging fro all tees. The views are outstanding. The staffing seemed to be light, but that is probably due to the number of golfers on the course....well worth the forty minute drive!
Not the same place it used to be
I've been making the drive up here for several years. The course was recommended by a friend years ago as a great course to play at a bargain price. I even once considered buying a membership here.
Yesterday I went up for first time in several months (injury). The staff in the pro shop gave me a friendly greeting until I told them my tee time and then their attitude changed. "Going to hit range balls today, son?" (They are all stacked up there at the range for free hitting and it had been that way for years). After telling him I had planned on it (I was there an hour early). "Well, see we don't make any revenue on these golf now tee times, so you gotta pay $10 if you want to use the range." I declined mostly out of principle (it did have member for a day icon on the tee time) and went to the putting range.
It is the end of October, but the course wasn't in as great of shape as it used to be. The greens were sandy and the teeboxes thin, but overall it's still a great course. Even the awesome sandwiches they have in the clubhouse have gone up in price, so overall I think I will probably be playing here a whole lot less. I can find plenty of other courses a lot closer to home for comparable price and and a lot less attitude.
A thinking golfer's golf course cut through the North GA hills.
Unlimited range balls are available at an extra cost. Front, middle and back yardages are on all the sprinkler heads but a range finder is recommended to better assist you with charting your shots around the trouble. The course is uniquely designed to allow multiple options as to how to play a given hole or shot, thus suited for many different styles and levels of play exclusive of the truely novice or beginner golfer. All four par threes are gimmies, probably to make up for the difficulties of some of the other holes. There's a good mix of long, middle and short holes with hills, trees, bunkers and lateral and water hazards abound. You'll have many risk/reward opportunities. Choose the right ones, play to your strengths and you should score well. Regardless of the outcome one thing is for certain, you'll be glad you chose this course to play
Great Course. Only issue was that the greens had been punched recently and were difficult.
Beautiful mountain course with many wide fairways but some very challenging holes. It would be nice to have visible yard markers as all markers are in the ground. Greens are generous in most cases but they had recently punched so a little rough. But, still enjoyable.
Play this course, you will enjoy it!
I wish i could play here 3 times a week. The greens were fantastic, rolling about a 10 and very smooth. There is a nice flow to the layout, very scenic. It wasnt crowded at all so pace of play was quick. Best of all was the $21.00 green fee, a real bargain!
the course is NOT pristine!!
I like playing this course it has good variety flat holes and elevated holes. The guys in the pro shop obviously hate golfnow every time they are kinda rude once they see its a golfnow round. Tee to green course is good greens are thin and bumpy not pristine. Still a fun course
GREAT ALL AROUND
Just wrapped up a nice round and the course was in excellent condition and staff could not of been nicer. We were allowed to tee off later then our scheduled time without any attitude, etc. that I sometimes hear about from staff at other courses.
Free range balls is always nice and the course was in great condition.
It was challenging but fair.
Definitely worth the drive north.
Great course.
Always a treat to play CF, tee it forward or tee it back it will challenge you. Worth the drive and the great prices.
Good range, putting green, great staff, very welcoming..... be a good course to be a member, good value.
Very challenging
Excellent course. Open fairways but lots of doglegs and blind shots, bring your "A" game. Greens were in good shape and rolled true. Fairways in very good shape as well. Love the course, I will be back.
Great course
The course is very challenging. You need to play it a couple of times to know where to place your shots. I was lucky enough to play with a member who was nice enough to guide me around this track. the greens were slow and bumpy. I was told I missed the sweet spot that 3 weeks ago the greens were rolling fantastic. When the weather gets cooler I will play it again.
Great value in the mid-afternoon.
Teed off mid-afternoon; almost had the course to myself and played in 3 hours. Course in very good shape. Bent greens rolled very well; fairways in very good shape, especially considering all of the rain. It's a little far (35-45 min N of Alpharetta), but worth the drive
Good challenge
Course was in very good condition especially considering all the rain we have had. Greens were just topdressed but still ran true.
Very fair, not overly demanding, in great condition.
First time I played Crystal Falls, Staff was friendly at check in. Course has reachable par 5s, a couple of long par 4s. It is fairly wide, so inexperienced players can enjoy it as well. My only criticism is that the scorecard does not give a hole layout for first time players. There are several blind/dogleg holes where you could not immediately tell where to play your tee shot, or how long. If you are in the Dawsonville area, this is a good course to try out.
very nice course. some of the par 4 are very challenging.
very nice course. some of the par 4's are very challenging.
terrific layout from start to finish
Never boring. Never the same lie twice Goes up, down, and bends both ways. Stunning..
Quick Round on a Rainy Day
Took advantage of a Hot Deal and had a great experience. I played as a single and didn't have any trouble getting out and around the course. Everyone was very nice and the course was in great condition, except for being a little soggy due to several days of rain prior. The course is a little bit out of the way, but it's worth a drive if you're in the northern suburbs of Atlanta!
This is a great course and very enjoyable to play.
I must say that this is an outstanding course. This was my second time to play it since my father-in-law is a member and I will be back, often. The greens and fairways are in great shape and the backdrop of the mountains and lake is incredible. From the time you get out of your car, it is an excellent experience. While it is out in the middle of nowhere, it's well worth the drive. I took a friend and his son who is currently a member of another club and he has decided to let his membership expire so he can join Crystal Falls.
This course was in great shape. It has wonderful practice facilities. It was a great value.
Greens were great. Overall course in good shape. It was nice to play a course with no houses on it. Can't wait to play this one again.
Great Greens
Greens were very fast and smooth and I like them that way.
Great course, but I want to second what uskrums made note of. Don't expect to get the range when you book a hot deal. We were very disappointed to hear that when my group arrived there last week. GN, you need to step up, and give them some of the revenue on these "hot deals", so we don't get hit with a $10 range fee.
