It's Fall Golf
I would have rated the course as excellent if not for the leaves... but that is fall golf. The leaves and sun made finding your balls a little more difficult, as thus slowed down the round. I though the conditions of the course were excellent, greens in good shape (players do need to fix their ball marks!!)
Staff
Great staff at this golf club. Everyone is so friendly. The staff in pro shop are really good group.
What a course!
One of the most beautiful courses I have ever played.
I liked that much, that I decided to play it again next day.
Beautiful, Challenging, very well maintained. A gem!
It's a shame hearing from the people I was playing with, that in about 2 years 9 holes are going to end up in new houses.............. What a shame!
Value for the money
Lionhead is a favourite of mine. A combination of layout, pace of play and condition combined. Hard to beat the value in the city!
Worth playing
First nine easier than back nine. Some good challenges, with strategic bunkers being a factor. Got held up on back nine, but pace was OK. Liked no. 16 and back nine overall.
Conditions were excellent
Entire course was in terrific shape. For $70 with cart you can't get better.
Good value through GolfNow
Overall terrific day. Was able to get a good deal through GolfNow and we all enjoyed the value, course & weather.
Lionhead is highly recommended for facilities, course layout and staff attentiveness.
Very good, only with a good deal
I had never considered playing Lionhead simply due to the overinflated rates. We found a great deal for an early morning round (Masters course) and decided to give it a try. Staff couldn't have been nicer and the conditions of the course are very good, though cart path only after some rain the previous day was a bit surprising. Greens were very nice but maybe it's the typical clientele here...seems most can't be bothered to repair ball marks.
This course is typical of other Kaneff courses with several cramped tees next to greens - I expected better at their flagship course. Numerous crossover points could be confusing but signage is helpful.
We did find that the yardage is very far off on many tees - especially the numerous dog legs. My GPS is very accurate for distance points and does not straighten out the dog leg, yet some holes were off by 40 or 50 yds. Why?? Padding the length of this relatively short course?
Would definitely play again ( at the right price) but not at their usual rates.
Poorly managed
Guys in the club house and marshalls don't know what they are doing. Played on a Monday had to leave after 7 holes, rate of play was extremely slow and our round was on pace for 6 hours for a twosome. People in front kept teeing up more shots like it was a driving range. Marshalls didn't do anything, guy in clubhouse only offered 9 hole voucher even though we only played 7 in 2.5 hours. Course was very backed up for a Monday. I enjoy this course but the staff have to step it up.
Sunday Too Slow
Nice course, tough layout. Busy on weekend. Too many golfers that are not experienced enough to handle a challenging course like this-slowed everybody down. Might be better on a weedkay.
Wish I played better
The course was in good condition as always. I even got to meet Mr and Mrs Kaneff. They were roaming around holes 3 4 and 5. I don't think they realized that I knew who they were. But they were nice and polite. I had a good time but had a mental breakdown on 6. The shot calls for a draw to put you in great position to get home in 2. I used to hit draws in my sleep but developed a bit of a hook. Got a couple of lessons fixed the problem but lost my draw. And on that hole I couldn't hit my shot. To shorten the story it took me 6 tries and a broken driver then 2 more tries with the 3 wood to finally hit the shot. I had to put down a 20 for that hole and finish the last 12 holes without a driver. But I still had a great time with friends on a beautiful course. Even though I shot a 108 from golds
A great day!
This was the first time playing the Masters and it was a great experience. The course is in excellent shape, everything was very well organized and the staff were cheerful and helpful (with the exception of the halfway house server who needs a refresher on customer service basics) I definitely would go back again.
Not a $175 round of golf
I recently played lion head masters course and was not impressed. The bunkers were not edged, the fairways and tee decks were not cut that morning, the greens were covered in ball marks that had not been fixed or marks that people have poorly fixed. Just the overall condition of the course gives you the impression that it is not maintained the way you would expect a course like lion head to be maintained. Especially with how expensive it is. The pace of play was horrible as the group ahead was very slow and there was not 1 marshal or even a starter. Luckily we booked through golf now and only payed $70 but still, knowing what I know now, I wouldn't pay more then $40 to play this course again. What really disturbs me is that the weekend rate with a cart is $175...... I'll end this review with that insane price of information.
nice track
Great course. Very challenging especially 16th. Front staff a little slow, beverage cart girl was non existent on the front 9. Had to chase her down to get a drink on a day with Temps around 30 degrees.
Too many tournaments, capable of much more
This layout is very nice and challenging. There's always an issue with the front staff. They aren't friendly at all. The couse has so much potential. The greens are slow and could be much faster. Pace of play is 5hrs no matter how you slice it.
Great little Gem !!
Course was in magnificent shape. Best greens in the GTA. Love both courses at this site. Hadn't played this in 10 years. Really love the course. Only knock i have is the customer service is not what it once used to be. Love the new restaurant !! Great facility at good value through Golf Now!!
Overall very nice
Club selection is important due to the number of dog legs. Greens maintenance could be better, but players should fix their ball marks more often!!!!! Overall a very nice course!
Can't get their act together
We were scheduled to play about 4 pm, but we were delayed by over an hour because a tournament was "late". They decided to send the late afternoon tee times as a shotgun start. This was a good approach but the execution was horrible. If they had taken the time to organize the remaining players as they would a shotgun tournament, it would have been fine. Instead they told players where they would start, which led to several groups ending up on the same tee. This in turn forced players to drive around to find an empty tee box. The response of the staff was "not my problem". This course used to have very good service, but it has slipped significantly so lower your expectations.
