One hpur late.
Tee time was 11:04. Didn't get to tee off until 12:10. The foursome ahead of us had music blasting from the cart. Very distracting when they tee off deside your green. Marshal didn't seem to care. Not a good outing.
pay attention to little things
Cups were well worn: which I presume is from lack of staff hou, priority or direction. Since enjoyment comes from success on a fair test, worn cups is an irritant and adds an unnecessary layerto a happy round. Move the cups as often as possible, guys!
Interesting course
found this course well maintained and interesting to play. Hills and long holes, it was never boring.
Long Course
I found the course long and difficult for the following reasons. The course had a bad distribution of par 5's and par 3's. On the back 9, 13 is a par 4, 14, 15, 16 are long par 5's and 17 is a par 4. If you are not skilled in the use of fairway woods you will find these holes extremely long. The fairway grass was long on the day we played which prevented the ball from rolling after it landed. There are 4 holes, hole 1, 9, 10 and 18 where you are required to tee off from astro-turf tee boxes. I don't think I will play this course again.
Memory Lane
My spouse golfed here in his adolesence. Lots of happy memories. Checked in early at the pro shop. Greeted by a very friendly, cheerful staff member. Actually we were able to tee off a little prior to our booked time.
Fantastic value$$$. Followed three junior golfers. Did not press them as we want to encourage more youth to enjoy golf.
Play was very slow the front nine.
Found the course in good shape. Greens were slower than we are accustomed to. A little treacherous crossing over a very busy highway. I am not a fan of teeing off the artificial turf.
Overall a fantastic, enjoyable round of golf with my spouse. We will return.
Make sure you get a power cart
Nice course, fun to play. Lots of par 5's so walking 18 holes is a chore. No sand bunkers, but many ditches come into play. Amazing 19th hole. No marshals pushing
Quirky layout
This course has a quirky layout with back-to-back-to-back par 3s and again same with par 5s, and several t decks hitting off artificial mat. Crossing a busy highway 4 times can be difficult with lots of summer traffic in a beach town.
Course was in good shape and greens, although slow, also in good condition. Price was right via Golfnow, but rack rate would be a little high for the experience.
Great experience
Love playing this course, very close to summer home and the staff is one big family
Wonderful day golfing
First time playing Oakwood after years of driving by the course on highway 21. Surprising good looks and condition beyond the highway and on the south side of the road. A good mix of par 4's and 3's. Really appreciated the four tee boxes- those par 5's were a little shorter as a result for this senior and his wife. Definitely will return to Oakwood again.
This Course has some strange tee boxes
The course was challenging. I did not like teeing off from astro-turf on 4 holes. The grass on the fairways was a little too long. All in all it was an enjoyable round with extremely challenging par 3 holes. There are some long par 5 holes and they are 3 in a row with no relief. This was my first time playing here and due to a lack of directions had trouble finding the next hole on several occasions. We had to cross highway 21, 4 times which I found a little dangerous. They could use lights or a bridge with the traffic as heavy as it is on a long weekend.
Great time
It was great can't wait to play there again
Great value and fast play
We got an outstanding price on Golfnow to play this course. I used to play often here about 20 years ago and I was pleases to see Oakwood has remained much as I remember it. The oddball layout with only four par 4s makes it a change from the courses we normally play. We played on the last day of a long weekend in the midafternoon and it seems like we were the only people out there. Total playing time was 2hrs and 50 minutes. The only negative of the day was that the pro shop attendant held us to our start time and wouldn't let us off sooner even though there were many other openings to tee off. We'll try to get back again if we can get the same deal on Golfnow ( $11 plus tax and booking fee)
Great Day
Our foursome had a great day and enjoy the course. No waiting to play at each hole. We found the greens slow but very fair ball rolled well. All the greens where in great condtion.
The long and short of it.
Course was in good condition. They have some very long holes and some very short holes so you get a good variety.
